Actionscript 3.0 :: Getting Widths For Various Images- Left To Right Slider

I'm currently working on a project for a simple scroller left to right gallery, images get loaded from an xml file, but the width of my images variate, therefore i need to find a way to vary the attribute else I get black blocks before images.. here is my source code for the main comp..

looking to create an image/mc slider that moves form right to left via user clicks of a left and right button.I would assume I would create an array to hold a series of mc's in (my images) and then tell the left and right buttons CLICK events to move linearly through the array (displaying next in line and previous etc.
I'm trying to figure out how contentLoaderInfo works; I'm trying to display 5 images on stage and place them horizontally based on their individual widths. Everything works fine except inside displayImage i remains at 5. Each width traces out correctly, but i stays at 5. What is it about contentLoaderInfo that I'm not understanding?
I have downloaded this slideshow but cannot for the life of me figure out how to center the images. The slideshow calls the images from an XML.I have edited the width of the slide show just fine but the images are still justified to the left.
I am a complete newbie at flash(it took me 10 minutes just to figure out where to put actionscript code lol). Anyway I'm trying to make a flash where you can cycle through images using a slider bar. They are images of a persons face from 13 angles starting from looking 90 degress left, to center, to 90 degrees right. I want to be able to rotate the face using the slider. What I'm trying to do is similar to another thread I was reading(though not exactly the same goal) so I took the code from there just to start myself off. Currently when I test the movie the face is moving back and forth(in loop play) and the slider bar does not interact with the images/frames at all. This is the code I have in Layer 1 Frame 1. I'm aware this code might be completely wrong for what I want to do since I pulled it from someone elses project.

i want to create a slider that controls 2 images and when you move the slider to half 50% it will have to show 50% of one image and 50% of another image . when i'm at 70% i want to show 70% of one image 30 of the other.the problem is that i coudn't find a way to show just half of image , i don't want to move the image to the left and animate it , simply i want to cut the image in half.

I have loaded 11 pictures through an array and a loop and then tweenlite'd them so them come on the screen from the right and move across 'til the middle picture is in the middle of the screen.Now, I am trying to figure out how to make it so I can move them to the right or left by a press of a button, (bntLeft and btnRight).Three pictures show on the screen at one time. So if btnRight is clicked then the 3 pictures which are off the screen to the right would come on and center in the screen. And if btnRight was clicked again then the pictures would move to the left and the last picture would come on.I don't know if that is going to make sense to anyone but me so I have created a picture to show what I mean.I also attached a snippet of the code I am using in case you need to see it. I have a flash gallery which works fine, the images for the gallery are determined by .xml files. Problem is when the image is not exactly the same size as the area defined in the .fla it defaults against the top and left, not the center of the space.
I'm making a Image slider. When the mouse is rolled over, It'll slide to one direction. Just like a normal image slider.The problem is, the images that I want to be inside this slider are in a folder and I want them to dynamically load into flash and into the slider.
For example, Lets say there are 5 images in the folder. I want flash to get all the 5 images and load them into the slider and do the normal scroll thing. When the 5th image is reached, I want the slider to display the first image. (in a continuous loop). If a new image is put into the folder, flash should now have 6 images in the slider.I've manged to get the Number of files in the folder to flash.How can I make a slider where images are loaded dynamically?
I'm working on a gallery with slider control that must display several thousand images.
1) The images must load dynamically just before they appear on stage and remove images / listeners as they leave the stage.
2) Have the images slide left / right with the slider.
best ways to dynamically load the images? I considered adding placeholder mcs on the stage, performing a check to see if the mc was within bounds and then loading it, but the player will definitely chug with several thousand mcs on stage.
My swf is 600px wide, and most of the pictures does not exceed that. However, some of the pictures needs to be presented in a larger width. url... solves the problem in a great way, by scrolling the images to the left automatically. (for example, check the second picture in Knut Bry's portfolio) My problem is that I can't figure out how on earth I'm gonna do that. Can anybody help me? I am trying to create a slider that will move a series of images in a movie clip based on the location of the slider. The problem I have is that when you click and drag the scroller it will move the images once but after that the images will not move. I am guessing that the problem is with my code. I want to move the _x of the images movie clip based on the _x of the slider. Here is the code I am using which is placed in frame one of the "timelineSlider" MC:

I am working on a gallery: the slider rotates the container with the images using Tweener class and easeOutCubic transition. There are 45+ images around the center of the container The movement is not smooth, especially when comparing to the way it would be with a small container. Also, and most important - A rough "snap" appears randomly in the end of the motion.
1. container1-->bitmap image with bitmapData. 2. container2-->bitmap image with bitmapdata. 3. im using the latest tweenmax 4. have correctly added a 2 seperate scrollrects to container1 and container2 that takes the width and height of the stage. 5. tweenmax is only moving the rectangles.
I get the effect i want, however, it still lags a choppy animation. Anyone know how come?
I have a DataGrid and I am manually setting the widths of the columns and they are working when i test through the flash application but in the browsers my column widths are not being set at all?
I have 3 textfields. they're in a sprite container. 1. date 2. pipe_mc movieclip 3. title field. I need to set it so that the textfield/mc/textfield;s x property changes dynamically when a shorter or longer date gets added into the field, via XML.
I need to create a horizontal menu with adding textfields with different widths dynamically on x axis. I have been doing this manually arranging the textfields on stage and get the x co-ordinate. I would really like to be able to do this with scripts, so in the future if I need to add/delete/change the numbers and positions, I can do it easily by just changing the scripts, But my maths knowledge is limited.
Has anyone coded a datagrid component so that the column widths adjust to match the length of the longest element in each one? I know how to set the width of a column to a specific pixel value, but how to go about calculating the width required for each cell? Obviously this depends on font choice and the number of characters I'm trying to display.
I am trying to get a bunch of attached movie clips have a different widths for certain clips var words_list = [["a"], ["a", "-", "b", "ou","-" "t"],["we","-","jk"-"h"] I am attaching each letter into a separate movie clip. i have a dilemma. i want to create dynamic buttons that arrange itself spaced horizontally and im having a hard time getting it to read the width of the text inside the button.For example, each of those buttons are being referenced in the library and its text placed dynamically. http:[url]....In my opinion, the way in which the photographs on this website scale, is perfect.I know how to load an image, dynamically, and add it as a child and in fact scale it.What I don't know, is how to scale it in the way the designer has in the example above. The code I use to scale the Child (the image) at the moment is this:

The designer appears to have used minHeight and minWidth commands to ensure the image doesn't scale beyond certain height and widths.
I have done some research and am unable to find anyone who has any sample code on how to apply consistent spacing between movie clips that are different widths. Below is the code I have so far. I have set the inital x position to be the same as another object on the stage. What am I missing? I need another pair of eyes. I am disappointed that we can't access clips the same way as we did in ActionScript 2.0 where we could refer to the previous clip's x position or y position and adjust them accordingly. I'm loading several thumbs of a XML gallery in sequence, one after another, in the _x coordinates. The problem is that the thumbs do no have all the same _width, so they create some empty spaces between them if I set a distance. how can I set a distance of 5 pixels between the thumbs, no mather the width they have?
I have a simple width and height I am pulling from an xml file, when I trace it out, it shows correctly, but when I tween the width and height it doesn't quite stop at the correct widths and heights. The width and heights from the xml are 800 and 600.

When the tweens stop, the widths and heights are off by anywhere from 5 - 10 pixels.
