ActionScript 3.0 :: Multiple PM's To Take Place In Their Own Individual "windows"?

I'm trying to make a chat room that basically has a static background but it also allows for multiple PM's to take place in their own individual "windows" that can be dragged around the screen...
I think I can manage the basics but how do I create a template for the PM windows and how to I use them?
I've been trying to find some information on it, but the queries I've come up with have pretty generic terms and is therefore not returning any helpful results.

I'm trying to figure out how contentLoaderInfo works; I'm trying to display 5 images on stage and place them horizontally based on their individual widths. Everything works fine except inside displayImage i remains at 5. Each width traces out correctly, but i stays at 5. What is it about contentLoaderInfo that I'm not understanding?

Scenario: Up to 50 instances of a display object are arbitrarily positioned on the stage.Is it better to create listeners for each individual instance or create one single global listener and then somehow find out which instance triggered the listener? If the latter is preferred,Will event.currentTarget tell which instance it was? And should I register the listener to the stage?

I have a project where I've been asked to allow a user to choose between multple color themes of a character. This object is complex in that it has multiple colors and that each color needs to change differently based on the theme's color scheme.
Is there a way to take a movieclip with multiple colors and apply process to it that will detect different colors and transform them accordingly without taking each individual color, making a movie clip from it, then modifying the movieclip's colors? Each character has a pretty limited color pallette, so this process would only have to find and then change maybe 3 or 4 colors. But the character in question is hand animated and has a LOT of frames, so I'm hoping there's a chance that I can handle this programmatically rather than doing it all by hand with a few hundred extra movieclips to make color changes to.

The code works fine, but I am getting unexpected results; the array seems to be shared across multiple instances of the same class? I've coded an example to highlight what is happening:

I have 5 text files that contain a list of 50 items in each file.
I want to bring that information into a datagrid; 1 column per text file. I'd also like to extend the code to add more columns when new files are created.
I was able to bring in one column, but maybe an approach with xml, an xml connector and dataset would be better.

I've gotten as far as getting a listbox with a list of articles to display the articles in a dynamic text box, only i can only get it to work if i use one huge external text file that contains all the articles. what i want is to have each item on the list open up its own external text file, i.e. for each item on the list, there exists a separate text file. I'm about ready to put my fist through the monitor, and that would suck because this is a really nice monitor

I've been looking for a JSFL command that might do this, but haven't come across anything even remotely similar to what I'm trying to achieve. Perhaps there is another solution besides JSFL that someone might know of.Question: Is there a way that I can select multiple symbols (either in a single frame or across multiple frames) and apply a scale transform that will adhere to each symbol's registration point?
Scenario:In an animation sequence, a movieclip of a tall rectangle is tweened on the timeline using "classic" tween. There are 20keyframes, where the mc changes position and rotation.In a duplicate of that animation sequence, I want to change the height of all instances of the mc in the animation, but keep the position and rotation. The rectangle should stay a rectangle, only shorter.I go to a keyframe, select the mc, and enter the desired scale percentage for the height in the transform pane. Then I repeat this for the other 19 keyframes. Imagine the pain and suffering I go through when this is done for several sequences!
Ideally,I would want to use the "edit multiple frame" mode in the timeline, select all instances of the mc across all 20 keyframes, and apply the height transform to all mcs via JSFL or dark magic.Flash's default behavior transforms multiple objects as a group,so not only will it squash and shear the different mc instances(creating diamonds),it will also shrink the distances between the different positions(changing the path of the tweens).I'm looking for a way to apply the transform so that each instance scales to their own registration point,preserving their position and respective of their rotation.

This post might belong to the As3 forum, but i think i might fit in here too..I am trying to get 2 "windows" or swf to to connect together (one sending event and the other receiving them, one way.) for a desktop application offline. First i thought I should use the localConnection, but it doesnt really work offline, i get errors and sandbox violations Now i am considering the nativewindow with a AIR app. All this using Flash CS5 (not flex). What is the best way to proceed?

I did open 4 windows of the library. I can close these library windows one by one but when I chose to show my library again all 4 windows open. I tried to reset it with chosing my standard workspace but it still happens allways when I open my library window again again.

I used the pop up window tute from this site and it uses javascript which I know very little about.Basically the tute opens a customised url window from the swf file but only one at a time.I need to open two or more at the same time.What would I have to change so I could open more than one at a time?here is the script ....

I've searched the web and first it seemed that it was impossible, but I've found something about the invoke event. I have a swf file with 5 buttons each button goes to a different url, so lets say i have 5 buttons, button 1 goes to preloader1 button 2 goes to preloader2 and so on.the problem is if i click on button 1 and open preloader1, then click on button 2 it opens preloader2 in the same window as preloader1, how would i do it so it opens a different window,here is the as3 code

I've searched the web and first it seemed that it was impossible, but I've found something about the invoke event. Pretty much all I've found was for flex and I just use plain flash cs5 so it's of no good to me. So far I have this function that I think is supposed so be called every time the app is launched:

I want a single online web page for my bookmarks. The page should include small windows which opens the following pages:
Fizy, Facebook, Guardian.

I am trying to launch 2 different JavaScript Centered Pop-Up Windows within a Flash movie. There is a main movie, then 2 other movies that load into the main. The main movie resides in the index page and all of the JavaScript is in the header. I need one pop-up to load an FLV (movie.html) with NO SCROLL BARS......and the other to load a results.php page (results.php) WITH A VERTICAL SCROLL BAR only. I have been referring to the a tutorial on the Kirupa Website [ [URL] ] but I'm not totally clear how to write with the properties in the Java Script to talk to these windows individually.

I am working on a puzzle has four different eyes, nose, and mouth. These can be placed on a blank head. I want to be able to place all of the same parts of the face, and have a response that says "Beauty" if the mix up the pieces from different faces, it will say "Beast." I'm developing a flex application to view charts and statistic data about real-time stock price. The requirement is that 1 user can view multiple windows (or panel, or canvas) of multiple stock symbols at the same time. I want to have 1 button, when I click at that button, a new panel will be pop up in a new WebBrowser tab. 1 user can open 5 or more panels like that in 5 more webbrowser tab to see 5 different stocks. And all 5 panels must be managed by the main Application. So that the Application can send stock price data to those 5 panels.

Does anyone know of a flash projector 'project' or 'framework' that uses a new flashPlayer for each window?We've used mProjector, which works well to a point, but I'm very disappointed in the fileIO patterns they use. It is very buggy with regard to reading and writing files.
mdm zinc uses multiple windows, but it is all sits on one flashPlayer 'session'. The same applies for AIR. It is great, but there isn't a way to make each window run on a seperate flashPlayer... extreme number crunching on one window will lock up all other windows.
edit - Just to clarify my needs (since I'm adding a little bounty), the app is an ERP application, built on Flex 3.x, and the size and scope of the project == huge.
tl;dr -- I need an exe wrapper (for windows), similar to AIR, that can have multiple windows, running each window on a seperate flashPlayer instance, and when a window is closed, it blows-away that flashPlayer instance / stage / etc.

I have a timer in my application. For every 30 min, it will hit the web services and fetch the data and updates the UI. The application was working fine till yesterday. Suddenly, because of some issue, the web services were not available for some time. During that period, Application displayed the RPC Error multiple times(More than 100 alert boxes) in alert window. Because of this alert boxes, my application was hanged and i was not able to do anything.
I have tried several approaches, but nothing worked.Finally, I have tried to use a flag. In all the approaches, this looked promising. so i have implemented it.Basically, in this approach whenever we open an alert we will set a flag.While opening and closing alert we will reset this flag.
