ActionScript 3.0 :: Keyboard Events (movie Clip Moves Via Keyboard Control) And Scenes

Nov 7, 2009

I have 2 scenes. In both scenes, I have a movie clip that moves via keyboard control. If the goto next scene is triggered by the movie clip in the first scene the keyboard control works in the second. However, if I use a button to move to the next scene then there isn't any control over the movieclip in that scene. I've traced the keyCode in the second scene and it is picked up but the switch statement doesn't run. I'm migrating to Actionscript 3.0 and updating something I created in 2.0. I would like to do it without writing a class.

Send Keyboard And Mouse Events To Flash Movie?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Controlling Multiple Movie Clips With 1 Set Of Code On The Main Timeline?

Jul 19, 2011

So I have been trying to figure out a way to control multiple clips using the same "on press" & "on release" statements located on 1st frame of main timeline. A variable is being set to a value that correlates to the name of each movie clip as an interaction occurs.Ex: user clicks from a selection of buttons & depending on the button clicked it sets clipNum = "1" through "21".What I want is to have something like the following code that will give the user the ability to click and drag the clip with code on the main timeline similar to the following:

_root["drag_" + clipNum].onPress = function () {
startDrag (_root["drag_" + clipNum]);
};

ActionScript 2.0 :: Controlling Multiple Movie Clip Location Using Single Function?

Sep 20, 2007

I need to write a function which should fix the location of the movie clip on the stage.

public function setCoOrdinates(xpos:Number,ypos:Number,movieName:S tring):Void
{
eval(movieName)._x=xpos;
eval(movieName)._y=ypos;
}

My function is as above. While I use this function in flash I only see the last movieclip on the stage which was passed. Movieclips passed earlier seem to have disappeared from the screen.

setCoOrdinates(20,200,"bButton_mc");
setCoOrdinates(530,100,"fButton_mc");

I see only "fButton_mc" on the stage. Even though I set different xpos and yposs for the movie clip.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Movie Clips With Multiple Mouse Events?

Apr 17, 2011

I have a project in AS2, and my question for that was posted in AS2 thread. But in the meantime, I was considering switching the project entirely to AS3 because AS2 is giving me a headache.

Basically what I need to have is this:

When you rollover the btn "learn how" a toggle window expands and a countdown movie clip starts. When you roll off the btn, the window and movie clip will both disappear. That works perfect. The next part is what is tricky for me. (to better make sense of it, the countdown is there as prep to a graphic movie clip. So if the user sees the countdown and decides they dont want to see the graphic movie, they can simply rollout with the mouse and the clip will go away.

Now...if the countdown plays all the way through... I need the second movie clip to start. The tricky part, is that when that movie clip starts.. it should no longer have the rollout mouse function. I need it to stay there unless the user clicks an Exit out button.. which I haven't done yet, because I have no idea if I can even get that far.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Mouse Events Are Not Being Disabled On Movie Clips With Multiple Threads?

Oct 18, 2009

I am able to disable mouse events on a movie clip with a single frame using the mouseEnable property and setting it to false.However if the movie clip contains multiple frames setting the property to false does not disable the mouse events.Do I need to disable for each frame of the clip? Or is this outside the box for movie clips.I have tried .enable and .mouseChildren to false also.I have alternatives to what I am trying to do so I am trying to determine if I am missing something.this is basically my code, this code will ignore events if I change the movie clip to a single frame.The multiple frame movie clip is made up of 5 frames of bitmap symbols and functions properly.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Keyboard Event And Controlling Timeline

Nov 4, 2010

I am very new to AS3. I have not wanted to migrate to it, but have been forced to do it for a current project which uses AS3 components. I am creating a slideshow (full screen) and will be creating each slide as a separate SWF file. I have been successful in loading and unloading the slides (SWF's). I need to use the arrow keys to move through the slides. I have that working, but want to load the slides without hard coding everything in each frame of the main timeline. I am using a var to get the currentFrame value. All is well exept that if the left arrow key is pressed and the main timeline is on FRAME 1, the playhead seems to think it can go backward to frame zero and then into negative numbers with each press of the left arrow key. I need to be able to stop the timeline from advancing backward at frame one. I have tried several methods that either do nothing or cause the right arrow key to work unpredictably and keep returning to FRAME 1 no matter what if statement and evaluation I perform. Here's the current code on.[code]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Keyboard Events Being Ignored?

Oct 1, 2009

I'm trying to write a simple counter. UP or Space increments a number and DOWN decrements. It's just one big number in the middle of the screen. A bell rings on an increment and I have added code to go full screen on mouse click.

Test mode works fine ( except for full screen of course).

Seems to work fine on the local machine using Safari 3.2.3

However if I try to run it locally using firefox it does not work.I need it to run on a laptop but it does not always acknowledge the keyboard events and while in full screen it never responds to the keyboard events.Laptop is running Safari 3.2.1

I was looking at this game called "Tsunami Fighter" (if you google it, it'll be the first thing that pops upI can't post links sadly) which is a keyboard mashing game. Basically you have to mash a certain keyboard button as fast as possible to stop the rage bar from reaching the top. I tried some things that I thought would work,

How would I script the keyboard mashing part of this game (The part where you have to keep a greater keyboardclicks/second than the rising bar You'll know what im talking about if you play the game. I'm not really concerned at the score or the graphics just the keyboard event thing.

Professional :: Keyboard Events Being Intercepted?

Apr 1, 2010

I created an E-learning project for a customer that has pages that require the user to make keyboard entries. When the user enters a specific letter, the page progresses. The pages work as expected until the customer places the project in a 'wrapper' that controls the navigation. When this is done, the user can make the keyboard entries, but now the page will not progress to the next section. It seems that the wrapper is stopping the system from detecting that the specific letter is pressed.

Flex :: AIR - Keyboard Events Only Sometimes Working?

Mar 12, 2010

I am adding a key listener to my AIR application like so:

<mx:WindowedApplication
xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
keyDown="onKeyDown(event)">

Yet only sometimes when I press keys does it actually invoke. I have no clue why, I thought maybe something else has focus. Well I cannot add key listeners to NativeWindow or NativeApplication, and I would assume if it is on the WindowedApplication which is the root element, that as long as my application has focus the key presses should invoke the listener.

ActionScript 3.0 :: DispatchEvent To Send Keyboard Events?

Mar 19, 2010

I am trying to create an on-screen keyboard for a touch-screen kiosk. Does anyone know how to send a keyboard event to a text input component from a button click event? For example, the user will push the on-screen buttons to enter their name, press tab to go to the next field, and so on.

I believe that I somehow need to use dispatchEvent but have not been able to get it to work. For example, pressing the on-screen A keyboard button will fire a CLICK event and call a handler to place an A in the currently focused text input component. The handler needs to be able to dispatch a keyboard event (with the correct keycode) to that text input field and that is where I am stuck.
