ActionScript 3.0 :: Create A Function Which Will Search The Cuepoints For A Specific Time?

I have the following XML file structure:

<CuePoints>[code]....
And I am trying to create a function which will search the cuepoints for a specific time, I'd also like the function to be re-useable, so I could just feed it a xml tree path and a search term then it would return a reference to the matching node.So far I have only managed to return what is in the node:

I am having some issues creating reactions to CuePoints when using NetStream();. I can get what I want to work when the video is embedded directly onto the stage by using the following code:

The trace statement is returning the name of the CuePoint correctly, but 4 times like this:

Which I assume is why the if statement isn't picking it up.

The data is not dynamic....and it is not server/web based....

I used After Effects to create a flv file thats got multiple event cuepoints. When i try to use these cuepoints in Flash, it says :
[Code]...
81.88 is the first position where two Cuepoints are set on the same point of time. I named them 81.88a and 81.88b in After Effects but it wont make a difference. Each of these points has some important parameters (cornerpoint data) so that i need them all.

I'm trying to run a function when after a specific amount of time of the mouse being idle a movieclip plays, then when the mouse becomes active again a different movieclip plays. I have gotten my code work for the most part, but the last function runs over and over as the mouse is moving. I want it to run once, so the movieclip plays once.

I've started a project a while ago, so far it is almost done but there is something that I seem not to be able to do alone... I would like to add a search function which I don't know how to do.It will not be a normal search function so I am going to try to beak it down with an easy example:
Let's say I did a project that is embeded somewhere in a normal html page with a main menu from where you can get to different city maps (e.g. New York, Paris, Berlin). The maps are seperate swfs. On all those maps there are several buttons for historical sites (or whatever) with a mousover function and a link to a page with more information about that specific site (on html).the names of the buttons are always a letter and a number (New York: "N1","N2","N3"...; Paris: "P1","P2","P2"... instance name for P1 is p1_btn)
What I need now is a search field in the main menu where you can search for those buttons. Meaning if I type in "N2" and hit search it will take me to the New York swf and show me button "N2".
I know this might not make much sense like this but the actual version is quite different and more complicated context-wise. Therefore if possible I would like to leave it that way with the main menu, the linked swfs and the buttons.

I have the problem with creating multiply functions. I want to create onRelease function for every item in array that will navigate to specific URL from xml.Here is the code:

The problem is that the trace for url will work if I put nodes[0] for example instead of [i].

I've got a flash movie that reads in an XML file and has an input text box. When you type something in the input box, I want to search through the XML and return the names of the elements that match whatever is currently in the input box, even if its only partially complete.The input box has an event listener of type Event.CHANGE on it and it runs the following function.

I want to be able to do site specific searches for a online group on Black Planet but they have so many restrictions on coding my only option is to use Flash. I tried some of the search box stuff on this site but they all seem to just do a web search, not site specific searches. I would like to have something that would search the group threads only. I need to do 2 things: I have a rotator piece I'm working on where I need to be able to go to a specific named frame (promotions) if the XML I search for [URL] has the tag <promo>. I also need to be able to have a button on that frame link to a URL that is pulled from a tag in the same XML, called <promoURL>.

I have a table in the database:
name Opinion
Tim Tim has an opinion
John other random text
Dan Dan's random text
Al Al says something else
I call this data and get it back in
getRecords.lastResult
To access John's opinion, I could use:
getRecords.lastResult[1].opinion
But that's only because I know that John is the second record (record 1), but this may change. So the right way is to search through the results to first find the record index for John, then access his opinion.
I need some sort of a loop? Is there an easier way to search for John directly without a loop?

Well, I am working on motion detection in AS3.

- Having only one source to detect the color "WHITE". But having multiple "getColorBoundsRect" detecting white on that ONE source but on DIFFERENT regions.
Lets say this M1(colorboundsrect) will only detect the first part of the source) and M2 will be detecting on another region of SAME source.
1 source, but multiple getColorBoundsRect on different regions of that 1 source

my objective is:
1.Read in a text file. e.g containing text like this, teacher/student/1/sn/2/3/4/5/9/f/tn/02/
2.pass it to a string.
3.then beable to extract different parts of the string and place them in different arrays.
The bit I dont know how to do is the extracting specific parts of the string? Is it possible to search for / and to treat what comes after it as a specific peice of information until the next / is read? Or perhaps there is a more efficient approach?

I am trying to create a search bar within flash which will generate links to frames within my flash project based off of given text. I have found a flash project online which does almost exactly what I need, but it only allows for searching a single word rarther than a full term or sentence. It also gives no error message when no word match is found. I am not very good at actionscript or I would be able to midify myself.

I'm trying to create a search box in a flash website. The search box will display contain a search text entry field and a search button. When information is entered into the field and the Search button is clicked, a movie clip containing a Datagrid will display resulting the Page name (clickable) and a few lines of text in the page.
I'm building this against a WP database using Flash8 / PHP / MySQL.
I'm experienced at developing Flash / PHP / MySQL websites (not using XML) that display MySQL results so I'm not a newby in this area, however, I'm new to having Flash input information and retreive results in a DataGrid
I already have a PHP script displaying the results from a search that works and now I need to complete the Flash frontend

I'm trying to create a simple xml search function that searches an xml file for a string, and if that string is found in the xml, display the node which contains that string in a text box.I have the simple search function working, but what I can't do is return the specific node. Right now, the function is returning all the xml data instead. If someone could take a look and possibly lend some guidance as to how to return the specific daya, I would be much oblidged. I've got this simple GUI that has a search box and a couple result fields for "Word" and "Definition"...I've also got an XML file with about 800 or so terms and definitions.Currently the flash works just fine, it reads in the XML glossary, splits it into a word array and definition array and when I search through it, it creates a List filled with terms that match the string that I search for. We wanted it to update the list of possible matching terms each time you changed the search term: a, ap, app, appl, apple... etc.
Everything works, its just incredibly slow when you throw 800 terms at it to search through.I was wondering if anyone could either optimize my search somehow, show me another way of doing it.Here is the code pulled from the whole GUI.
