Nov 18, 2010I'm trying to create a search box in a flash website. The search box will display contain a search text entry field and a search button. When information is entered into the field and the Search button is clicked, a movie clip containing a Datagrid will display resulting the Page name (clickable) and a few lines of text in the page.
I'm building this against a WP database using Flash8 / PHP / MySQL.
I'm experienced at developing Flash / PHP / MySQL websites (not using XML) that display MySQL results so I'm not a newby in this area, however, I'm new to having Flash input information and retreive results in a DataGrid
I already have a PHP script displaying the results from a search that works and now I need to complete the Flash frontend

Nov 13, 2011I am working on a portfolio site to display images. I have 2 frames, the first contains a progress bar and this code:

The second frame has the content and different action script that is related to it.
My problem is that the whole site works fine in Flash when i "test movie" and "simulate download" but as soon as i "publish preview" in either flash or html the progress bar doesn't work, it just freezes on that frame.I am really new at this and have just pieced together the code i have from various tutorials on the net but this is really testing my patience. So frustrating because the site took me ages and it looks great in flash, just need to get past this little hitch.

Jul 15, 2009I'm trying to create a search function or find one on the web to purchase for a flash based website, and I've been trying to find some different tutorials on how to do this. I found a search program from CoffeeCup Flash Website Search that looked promising, however the big problem that I've been running into is that the website does not have an http:// address because it is running on an internal company network so it's file extension is like this:\File01MyDepartmentIndex.html so the CoffeeCup Flash Website Search can't do a search for all text found on my site. I'd like to have someone be able to search my site for text found on any of the different pages (All created with seperate swfs) and there are datagrids on most of them with xml data being loaded into them

Apr 12, 2011I'm trying to emulate the transition effect from the site venuliving.com (I'd post the link but I don't have enough posts).
When you click through the various sections, coloured bars expand and move across the site, they hold while subtly moving and then shrink out once the section has loaded.
how this sort of thing is achieved? I've been considering creating the whole thing using coloured rectangles and TweenMax but I'm wondering if this was created dynamically in AS3? Or if it's a customization of some existing transition?
CS3 Creating A Workable Fla Form From Swf Decompile Files
Apr 20, 2009My mission here (and I'll try not to convolute it too much!) is to edit a flash based form from a decompiled SWF. The form's main purpose is to record user information in text fields, attach a file and email both to an external address using a few PHP scripts (I'm presuming) to dictate how the information is delivered. My problem is that SO THINK decompiler does not attach ACTIONSCRIPT to the layers and frame in the timeline, instead it exports each Action-script as a seperate .AC file. I have not yet been able to export an FLA that allows me to edit the scripts effectively, and am wondering if there is a more effective way to use a decompiler in this case, or if there is another solution to the problem.

I have found a flash project online which does almost exactly what I need, but it only allows for searching a single word rarther than a full term or sentence. It also gives no error message when no word match is found. I am not very good at actionscript or I would be able to midify myself.

Aug 19, 2009I'm trying to create a sort of search relevancy within flash and actionscript 3. The goal is to have a person's search return results that match the most user input search terms. For example, if a person searches for "apple pie", I don't want pictures of just apples, and just pies to show up first. I have, what I believe is a good system so far. I basically go through each item in an XMLList (consider it to be all the items that will be searched), and see how many of the terms return true. I add this number to a variable I called "relevance", and then push it to an array.
So now I have my XMLList and matching relevancy array. My big question: Is there a way to sort my relevancy array numerically, and have the XMLList(or a temporary copy of it) sort to match the relevancy array? In other words, when my relevance array sorts itself, I want the xml list to copy the resorting.
