i am making a Picture Gallery for a personal Project...
The code all works fine, although is probably quite messy, in the test movie environment within flash but when i publish or export the movie it doesn't load my images?
I am using Flash CS3 with AS 2.0
I will upload the fla, you can use any picture to test if you want.
Is flash (actionscript 2.0) secure enough to use for a website that holds personal info, password, restricted areas, ect. How can I make it secure enough if it's possible.

The gallery has thumbnails along the side and when ever you click on one the corresponding image slides in to the center stage. If you are familiar with the Halo games, I am trying to create my cortana.What this project is, is a flash game that has certain features used for personal assistance in my work. Incorporated in that is going to be a few things that I need help with creating:
A chatbot part with custom responses
an RSS reader
a password protected parta reminder thing where in game (preferably but it doesn't have to be in game) I can type in a time, date, and message and it will remind me at that time with my message.A way for it to start up programs and open files for me
So I have this project I'm working on and I'm trying to build the website part of my project. I have experience with Flash AS3, but not so much or none with JavaScript. My co-workers are telling me that they are almost the same and you can just build the site in JavaScript. But people can have JavaScript turned off, and not everyone uses Flash.
I'm having difficulty knowing what to use to build my website...by the way, this website is generally an application. It's going to have a menu with features and stuff. I figured I can probably do HTML and PHP, but there's some features I need that will be dynamic. I really want this site to be available to as many people as possible.
I am looking to design and add an interactive flash part to our company's website. Since we do a lot of business planning and consulting, we have come up with a great idea, but unfortunately, none of us really know how to create it. Basically from what I have researched, I will need to incorporate animated buttons in a flash movie. I have attached a quick sketch of what the website will look like. The part I need to work with is the middle section with the boxes.
What I need to do is this:
The 5 gray boxes need to be buttons that link to their related pages. When the page loads, I want the animation to draw the first box, create the line, draw the second box, draw the next line, etc. until all the boxes and lines are drawn. This is a process map and since we do a lot of these for our work, we thought it would be nice for us to incorporate this into our website. Furthermore, it would be ideal if these boxes were links to different pages on the site as well.
So my question is this:
-What do I need to create in order to have this animation work
-Where is a good place to start looking in regards to creating something like this
-Is this even possible
I am wondering where I should start with using Flash to create a video chat.
I have experience in HTML, PHP, C++, and SQL... not sure if that helps. But basically I am new to flash and wanna learn how to get a video chat going on my website.
I'm just beginning to wrap my head around design patterns. I'm in the process of rebuilding a slideshow using MVC and it's coming along nicely. I'm considering using a design pattern for the whole site and am wondering if there are certain patterns that people usually apply to sites.

It works fine on the first screen but once you hit any button and go to the next and then try to go back, the code breaks and I am not sure why. Ive tried multiple things to get it to work but nothing seems to help. The code I am using is

i'm trying to create an online brochure that users design with products/images they've selected. users will be able to drag a thumbnail to a pre-designed area, then swap them around to their liking. currently i'm in the beginning stages and just learning the power of actionscript.
i've attached two sample .fla files i've been working with. the first sample i have two thumbnails drag to a target and enlarge to a defined size. the second sample i used a tutorial from flashkit --- drag drop swap. it works but the as is not up-to-date. i'm trying to incorporate the two ideas together but get bizarre effects. most of the examples i find are close but no cigar.

View 4 RepliesI am trying to make a Image Gallery for my website, I have a limited space to work with.
I am looking at doing it in Javascript but thought I could do the same thing in Flash. (maybe :P)
This is the Javascript idea.
Basically I would want it to be the same as this but the size i want instead of a small one like that.
As I have a limited space I dont want small thumbnails for people to click on and then have the larger view updated.
I would also want the controls and description to be viable all the time minus the play / pause button.
Is this possible? If so how can I do it? Is their already something out that will do this?
If possible I would like to have it database driven (the images and the description) to make it easier so I dont have to keep manually updating the flash.
Also can it be friendly to both Portrait and Landscape images?
and last but not least (and not necessary) can the images then beable to be clicked on and open up to full size ...

View 2 RepliesI have built a website for a photo gallery and have added the deep link architecture only after the website is built, so the whole site is kind of cripple... The path to each photo is by clicking buttons in the following order Menu->Submenu->Photo I have designate a link for each photo. The site works properly if I try to reach the photo by clicking button in the above order. However, if I try to access a photo by typing the direct link to it, the photo cannot be displayed coz the swf of the menu and submenu, which are triggered by a button click, is not loaded yet.
The current architecture of my site is that when ever the menu button is clicked a new submenu class will be initiated, so the loading of the submenu class only happens when the menu button is clicked. The following site is an example the way I want to make my site to be : [URL] I could access any image on my site by typing a direct link and the swf could be loaded.
I made a flash website for a non-profit organization and it needs to have a photo gallery inside of it. It needs to have 3 categories with about 20 pictures in each category; the pictures are of different sizes.
I'd like to make a gallery like this one: [URL] but I'm not sure how to do so while also having it be inside the main flash website also.
I'm trying to build a personal flash site. Just wondering what is the common practice to judge what dimension the swf should be. Because right now, my swf is of a fixed size or is there ways to have a fluid dimension that goes according to the user's resolution.

The site is self-contained (no scrolbars) and I want the frame work of the gallery to draw itself in as the page loads. The frame work is just simple lines and drawing objects on the maintimeline. Do i combine the lines (the "frame work") into a mc and then somehow use the deco tool? How can I acheive this in action script?
