how does pagination work? Is that I just need to create several Movieclips for each page and then add the contents into pages seperately?? Or is there any available tutorials??

Also, how would I link the navigational buttons on the left to each frame?
One other thing, the content box on the right, how can I make that scrollable?
I have attached a zip file which has a main.fla and a folder pages which contains 2 fla's p1.fla and p2.fla.The main page loads the first page which is p1 and as the main page has 2 buttons i am using _level script to know which page to load, actually i wanted to create 3 buttons. Since i have already created 2 buttons the first page automatically loads but when i click on the 2nd button it does'nt the p1 page goes but it comes back again.In the main there is a movie clip which has an instance name of page_mc and the code inside it is:

I just found the "famous" pageflip and encouterd a problem. I need to load each page seperatley.. cause loading the pageflip takes a while (its 1 mb) example:[URL] I tried putting this on every pageMC: _root.mymovieclip.loadMovie("page1.swf") followed by a preloader script, but that didnt work the pageflip can be downloaded here: [URL]

I seem to be able to increase the number in the variable, this creates more pages when I preview the project, but brings up some errors. Even when the pages are created, they are blank I'm not sure where i create the content for them? in their own movie? then where do i drop them?

I want to let people change the color of tiles to what they want from a list of colors, so how can I let them change the color of a tile dinamicly with actionscript so that it changes a tile's color while preserving changes of "shadows"? I mean I have let's say a cube and to make it look 3D I need to change each face to make a feeling of 3D and not a flat one.
View 1 RepliesI have run across a strange problem. When I load products2.swf by itself, I can call the two "copy" files and everything works. When I open 0342.swf (the index page), I can switch between the home and products2 pages, but I can't view the "copy" pages.I'm guessing there may be some sort of conflict with variable names, but I have been messing with it for most of today.I have uploaded all of the FLA files to here:[url]....
If you make an swf file out of each of the attached items, and open the 0342 file, you will see what is supposed to be happening.

I have several different clips in one movie that have scrolling content. When I click a button to move to a different clip that doesn't have a certain scroll, it gives me this error. You can see the site I am working on: [URL].

with each section having a few mc's each the navigation works by just loading a new mc for each page.. eg: each time you press next it loads the next MC
however i want to add the checkbox to the contents so if section 3 is unticked, the mc's in it will cease to exist or be inaccessible or something, and will be skipped when navigating through the rest of the sections

View 1 RepliesIn my main .fla file I have a movie clip onstage called "square". The movieclip is empty. Below that are five buttons (black, red, blue, green, remove) which, depending on the color button clicked, would load into the empty "square" clip either a movie called "black_square.swf", "red_square.swf", "blue_square.swf" or "green_square.swf". Only one such movie at a time is loaded into the clip. Clicking the "remove" button empties the clip. I've also got a "submit" button, which, when I click it, I'd want to submit the name of whatever .swf file happens to be loaded to a database. If nothing is loaded I want the record created to show the "square" movieclip was empty.
I've been able to make an application that has a central movie clip containing 20-something other clips. The application lets people create their own design of a particular item, choosing the colors of every component to this item (each of which is loaded into its own component-specific movie clip). One of the movie clips can be populated by a .jpg or .png file a user himself uploads. Once finished, people can print or save this design by choosing the appropriate button on this app. What I'm trying to do is find a way to also pass this design, created from multiple movie clips into a central clip, into a database as well.
The movie clips are "driven" by 21 color chip buttons each which has an instance name of a color, i.e. "black", "brown", "dark_green", etc. By a series of switch/case statements, when one clicks a "component" button (there are approximately 13-15 components) they load into the clips a movie named "(model)_(view)_(component)_(color (event.target.name)).swf". There are many "models" to choose from but within the stage only one "model" is selected at a time, so that wouldn't change here.
The design can be viewed from front, back, left or right, so that's what the "view" is - the colored components that are the same save for the view (i.e., an object which can be seen from either the front or left view) are loaded into movie clips that are either visible or invisible depending on which view one selects. Is there a way I can attach a variable name to a movie clip which is selected (bearing in mind that the application viewer can change the color of each component (and therefore the clip loaded) at will) to be read by the database? Or would the name of whatever movie clip itself that happens to be loaded be sufficient? "populating a database from contents of a movie clip".
I'm making a menu system that uses sliding movie clips instead of separate pages - [URL]. But when you click on the 'study at UWS' button, the nested slider kind of goes nuts, until you press on of the side buttons.

I would like to have some dynamic content on the pages... I want to use it for a website. The problem is, when you click anywhere on the page, it reacts. I tried putting an MC over it to override it, I tried removing the Mouse listener temporarily... I'm not too advanced with AS, but I thought I'd give it a try... Well I just can't figure it out.
Is there any way that I could make it so that when the mouse is in a certain area and is clicked, the pages do not react like they should? With the dynamic content I'm going to need scrollbars and stuff and that just isn't going to work unless I can do this.
what i am trying to do is open a new page, but at the same time open a another new page inside the 2nd pages iframe. look at code and i think you will understand better.

For example, if a site has multiple pages in a section, and you want to send them to the next page that has new images and text, how would you do it? Use dynamic text? Movie clips? Or just send them to anoter frame?
View 7 RepliesI have a large Group which contains two rulers and labels for distances, and a varied amount of smaller groups consisting of images and labels. Now my task is to print the large group on a page with a header and a footer. The large group extends outside the edge of the page and pushes the footer off the page. If I was printing just the Group, I could use
printJob.addObject(myView, FlexPrintJobScaleType.SHOW_ALL);
to fit it all on one page, but that would scale the header and footer as well, which I don't want - I'll be printing more pages and want the header and footer sizes to stay the same.
Is there a way to scale only the group and its contents automatically before printing?
So I'm trying to create this website in which the first page is made in Flash and the rest are made in Dreamweaver. how to actually connect them so that works? I know how to put something made from Flash into a Dreamweaver page; should i just do the same thing?

I am planning to create a photo/video gallery secured by a pin. So i plan to have 4 pages, Login, Menu, Image Page and Video View. Login would be a simple textbox where i check the pin. The Menu would show all picture albums and videos in a list i create with clickable sprites or buttons or something like that. And a video view where a video will be shown if i click on a video link on the menu page.
I tried to prepare the scene in flash cs5, so i decided to create 4 frames. ALl pages have their own layer. The first will be the login, second the menu, third the image view (incl. thumbnail show and fullscreen view popup) and a video view. On each keyframe i put a rectangle converting it into a MovieClip acting as the main container where all the stuff will come into.
Now i tried to initialize all these MovieClips by resizing them everytime the stage is resized. For this i get errors, that some of the MovieClips are null. This is because the MovieClips exist only keyframe 2 for the menu or keyframe 3 for the image page and keyframe 4 for the video view. So i have to put them all into keyframe 1 to be able to access. But i created 4 keyframes because i want to jump to them by using "gotoAndStop( n)", where n stands for keyframe 2, 3 or 4.
I dont get it, how does Flash interpret the code and how is the visibility of these MovieClips. Can i only access the MovieClip from keyframe 2 because i added it on keyframe 2 only? What is the best solution to have a simple 4 page app where on page 1 (menu) i click on video link which holds some sort of ID of the video, then i jump to keyframe 4 for the video view providing it with that ID, but how to do that when Actionscript doesnt even know there is a video container MovieClip. To get Actioscript to know all of them, i have to move them to keyframe 1, but then how to do the paging stuff.
So I'm working on a new flash site project for my boss. I've not done a flash site before so am learning as I go.
What I wanted to get advice on is the best way to build the set of pages. As you see from the homepage, there are 8 buttons there in total.
Obviously, when one is clicked, it will take you to that page *collections, profile, etc etc....). I am in the process of creating these pages but want to know what's the ideal way to set up the fla.
Is it best to create each page as internal movie clips inside the actual site.fla and then using the attachmovie command attach them to a main container_mc? Or is it best making them separately and loading them externally, loadmovie to a container_mc?Or do I set each page at a different frame on the main timeline and get the button to jump to that frame, which then plays the movie via one of the methids above?
I'm building a site in flash using as3. I implemented an xml slideshow on the home page but it wont disappear when changing pages. Anyone could tell me how to remove it on other pages?

What I need to happen is if the user has ever clicked the mouse during the animation, don't run the code on the individual pages. How I have it now, it still executes when it gets to page 1,2, or 10.
I'm creating flash site which will have different backgrounds for each page. I'll load the individual pages with "MovieClipLoader." My understanding about MovieClipLoaders is that, it doesn't matter the background of your mc, the page to which you are loading will maintain it's background.
