I need to display a word passed to the flash movie through flashvars. My objective is to display this word centered inside a black rectangle which length adapts to the word length. The box should be on top of everything, aligned with the right margin of the Flash Movie and 100px from the top margin.

I am getting questions from the database (just text) and then passing them to flash via flash vars.I want one question to be displayed then the user will answer (text) and click a button and then the next question will be displayed for them to answer and so on.I am not hoping for overly specific advice but as I am very new to flash/actionscript am just looking for broad advice (or links ?) on how to approach this. Can I do it all from one frame just using actionscript?I think what I am really after (assuming I am not way off track) is if all the questions should be handled at once which I guess will require some kind of loop that listens for some buttonclick event to move to the next question ..... or be 'reloading' the flash movie and dealing with only 1 question at a time.

The number of questions is not set and depends on how many questions the asker has created, these are passed through flashvars from the backend database.
So can I just do this in the one frame with a loop or something going through each param in flashvar ? Or would a better way be reload the page (it's going on a website) after each question answered passing the flash a single question.
I'm trying to create an application that receives variables passed through FlashVars and makes use of the new TLFTextField. I have run into an issue with accessing the FlashVars after declaring a TLFTextField variable.
The code I have is as follows:

The HTML file is passing a FlashVars value of "title=ThisIsTheTitle" If I run the code, the tf TextField is empty. If I comment out the last line that creates the TLFTextField, the FlashVars come through fine and the tf TextField displays the "title" variable that was passed through FlashVars.If I change the last line to read:

It works fine (the "title" variable from FlashVars is show in the tf TextField). I don't understand why delcaring a TLFTextField prevents the FlashVars from being accessed.

I have researched flash vars and the like and didnt really get far.[code]I was able to get the URL into Flash!So flash now has a variable called "section" that holds a string like this.url...My question is; how do i get the values held in each of these days, weeks, years, etc into a format that can be used with in the flash movie. Ideally into seperate variables where the values can be returned in a textbox.

The problem is this if in the embed in the HTML document I put in wmode="transparent" for the flash movie the parameter I am passing to the flash movie never gets passed ... I don't see how wmode can do such a thing but then again this is really my first time working with wmode in general.I tested it numerous times to make sure it really does come down to wmode and it does.Here is the code I currently have I hope there is someone out there that could explain to me why it's doing this.

Update: I have isolated the problem to a single browser which is Firefox. I've tested it with IE8, Safari and Chrome and they all work without any issues except for Firefox.
I make a dynamic textfield, specify it's instance, then assign it a string or variable with AC, but often the dynamic text will not display all the text or variables. For example, I say
warning.text = "Please do not enter more info than necessary.";
Yet what appears onscreen, is:
"lease do not enter more ino tan neesary."
This happens no matter how big I make the text area, or how small I make the text, so I don't get why it's not all viewed. (Btw When I copy from the textfield I do get all the text)

I am now trying to enhance some of the features.I would like to see if I can display one letter of each word so the Player has a hint. Think of this as a beginners level.The words are random from a text list. Either I can make the letters invisible and the game starts without a hint or I am able to select a letter using charAt() or creating a new variable substring()from the word which is the displayed repeatedly on the stage(not what I want) I have not been able to find a way to display one letter and display it in the correct order within the word and keep the remaining letters invisible.

I am doing drag-the-word quiz. When you match the word with correct part, the message pop out, saying Bingo! If the word is matched with wrong part, the "Sorry. Try Again" message pops out, says "Sorry. Try Again". I managed to make the "Sorry. Try Again" message disappear. However it dun work anymore after that. Sometimes it is quite funny. When I play it, the "Sorry. Try Again" message dun pop out at all.
Another problem - I am not sure how to make the word fit into the white box. I only know how to make the word drop on the white box. Can you tell me how to do it? I will be adding voiceovers to the quiz when the word is matched with the part. For e.g it will say "bingo" or "Sorry. Try Again". How to attach the voiceovers to it?

View 4 RepliesI found this seamingly usefull mini tutorial on Actionscripts.org on how to use the FLASHVARS value in the 'HTML' to controll which part of the Flash movie is shown. But I can't get it to work, the AS gives loads of errors in Flash. The value is set, as I have got a textbox showing it the values. here is the AS I did as an experement,It's just supposed to move the playhead to a different named frame depending which page loads the Flash.the FlashVars value in the html pages is page=one and page=two.

I have a fla file that i am using on my page, i want the twitter object to be embedded inside my fla but there is no direct link to the file. The twitter site will give me a code to paste, but the code has a general link and some flashvars info. How would i be able to embed into my fla if there is no direct link? If i use divs to place the object on top of my flash it blinks and sometimes will not show at all.

I have a flash banner on every page in my site. I want it to continue playing rather than reloading when users change pages. Ive read that this can be achieved using flashvars.
I have this on frame 1 of my fla file now:

View 10 RepliesI have a flash file that I am trying to debug. It loads a second flash file which it passes data to, and then that data is sent to a server. Unfortunately the data isnt coming out how it should.
I would like to know if anyone knows of a way to see what data is being passed to the embeded flash file from the original flash file. I need to make sure the data going to it is correct.

It need to be able to move the slider back and forth to move the flash movies timeline back and forth. It almost needs to look and act like the Timeline in the flash editor.
JPG file sometime can be loaded into flash MC, sometime cannot from a server.for example XML Gallery/SlideShow .there is no problem if all the image file are loading locally, but if I loading image from a server, by MC.loadMovie(http:url....)the flash movie display nothing sometimes, but occasionally it displays the picture.
