ActionScript 3.0 :: If / Else Statement To Check Whether Or Not External Swf Is Loaded
Oct 24, 2011
Just starting to delve into as3. I have made a flash website with four navigation buttons (home, products, about, contact). When user clicks on "products", an external movie clip is loaded and everything works fine. User clicks any button after that, and myLoader.unloadAndStop, the swf is removed when you navigate away from "products". However, if the "home", "about", or "contact" buttons are clicked first (before the external swf has been loaded), it of course, throws the 1009 error.I need some sort of if/else statement to check whether or not the external swf is loaded, remove it if it is, and if not, just navigate to the "page" clicked.[code]
I'm loading an external .swf via typing the swf name into an input text field and hitting a submit button.
The swf loads fine, but I'm trying to incorporate updating a status text field on a successful load or if there is an error during loading.
I can't find my mistake in the code - to me it should be making load_status_txt display "ok", but the swf just loads with no status update. All the text fileds are fine, because if I code load_status_txt.text = "hello" straight after addChild(loader); - load_status_txt displays "hello"[code]...
I am loading a stack of external swfs using the loader class, How should I determine if a swf has already been loaded, 'downloaded'. I have been looking for a function like ' isLoaded('externalSWF') .
I´m loading some MP3 from an external URL. I need to wait to completely load the mp3 and then start to play it. Do you know how can I check when mp3 loads completely? This is my code:
var s:Sound = new Sound(new URLRequest("url.com/file.mp3")); var channel:SoundChannel = new SoundChannel(); channel = s.play();
I am trying to use a mouseevent.startdrag to move a particular movieclip, but I don't know how to go about checking the object in question. The code below doesn't seem to work with either ==Object(MCsquare) or just ==MCsquare.
function onStartDrag(evt:MouseEvent):void { trace(evt.target);
[Code]....
How can I run a check to see if the target object is MCsquare?
i am trying to find out if it is possible to check on more than one variable in an if statement at a time as i am usure how, so is it possible in as2 to check on more than one varialble if answer is equal to the number 1 and answer is to the number two and also the number three perform a function
var answer1:Number =1; var answer2:Number =2; var answer3:Number =3; if(answer == 1 ) and answer == 2 and answer ==3); if(answer == 1 and answer == 2)
The user needs to submit a dollar amount answer. They could write is several ways. I'm trying to accomodate it with the code below. It always evaluates it as the wrong answer (the else).
The first vid node contains a path to a logo graphic, I then need to check in my ActionScript if there is a logo there or not, and to do something if there is(display the logo) I can trace out the logo path so I thought I could run a simple if/else to check if there is anything in that node and if so to do something:
private function thumbOver(e:MouseEvent = null):void { trace(" ");
[code]....
Now I've tried everything, but it will always trace out "Does have a logo" no matter what I do. I tried:
if (tabData[tabID].video[e.target.id].@logo == "") if (tabData[tabID].video[e.target.id].@logo == null)
I'm trying to check to see if an object exists by using a simple if statement.
if (object.name) { //Do this }
However, if the object doesn't exist, I get this error, "Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties" - which I understand is because the object doesn't exist. Is there a better way to check to see if an object exists?
In a setup like this is it possible to check the cumulative status of all onLoadInit?
for(var i:Number = 0; i < limit; i++) { var mcLoader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); var mclListener:Object = new Object(); mclListener.onLoadInit = function(mc:MovieClip) {
[Code]....
Initially I was thinking that I could pass an array of Boolean's, but I'm not really sure where to add that checkpoint, because a flash frame doesn't keep looping. Would I have to add it to an onEnterFrame()?
I have the same swf externally loaded over multiple frames. I am hoping to be able to check to see if the swf is loaded, if not then load it into the container movieclip or else don't load the swf.
I am initiating loading a swf file, "bg1.swf". I have a button that, when clicked, is suppose to check to see if "bg1.swf" is loaded.I cant figure out how to write the conditional "if" part. Currently, instead of checking to see if my statement is actually true, it executes loading bg1Req? Here is the code .
var bgLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var bg1Req = new URLRequest("bg1.swf"); var bg2Req = new URLRequest("bg2.swf");
i'm trying to use if statements but can't get this thing to work i want to check if another button is visible on release of a button to determine what action to be taken.the 'gotoAndPlay("firstscene",1)' is just there as an outcome, will be changed later. anyway this is the code i've got on the button i'm pressing. blobyellow2 is an instance of a button blobyellow is it because it's an instance that it's not working?
[Code]...
edit: sorry forgot to put what's wrong with the code. it acts as though the statement is correct no matter if it is or isn't.
i have "roll over" event listener and i would like to that works only with MovieClips (without textfields etc.). I would like to write something like that:
if(event.target == MovieClip){ do something } else { do something else}
This doesn`t work properly.
How to check type of event.target in "if" statement?
Trying to get a MovieClipLoader to work for me... This code is taken pretty much right from Macromedia's Help file. I get no error messages (yay), but I also get no trace statement (boo) or loaded clip (boo2). There *is* a clip named audioplayer.swf in the same directory as my file.
I don't know if I'm using the correctly terminology but I've made a movie rater in flash for MySpace. The problem is it doesn't allow script access. The music players on MySpace load xml files through the embed statment.
Now, I've done the same thing using this:
[URL]
I know how to read xml files in actionscript (variable=moviedata.xml.firstchild.firstchild.node value; ) and all that good stuff. The problem is, I don't know how to read an xml file that has been loaded this way with out the actual load commands being in the swf itself.
I have 'Sound On' and 'Sound Off' buttons on mutiple scenes and I am playing the music loop in my flash movie by loading an external swf. When I move to the next scene the sound reloads which I do not want. How do I use an if-statement that checks whether or not the music.swf, that needs to be loaded is found and when it is found, go to a frame?
What I'm trying to do is: When this button is pressed, whatever is in the current news_Clip movieclip goes to frame 71 and plays till it reaches the end of the outro animation which is frame 101. When it reaches frame 101, I want to load a new swf into news_Clip. Using the above code, the contents of news_Clip does its outro animation but the new SWF is not loaded into it after reaching the end. I've been screwing around with this for the past 7 hours and can't figure out what I'm not doing or doing wrong.
I've got a little script that scales a video to the stage. The scaleing function has a switch statement to indicate what kind of scaling to apply.If I declare the case value of the switch statement internally all is fine. However if I load this value from an XML doc, even though the trace indicated the value has loaded, the switch never fires.
Code: /stage variables var sH:Number; var sW:Number; var _contentHolder = new Sprite();
is there a way to create an if statement that would load a movie clip after a different movieclip is loaded.i have text_mc and scroll_mc. I dont want scroll_mc to load unless the content is loaded into the text_mc.I tryed to make an if statement sort of like a something used for a preloader but I must have been off just a bit because it was not working. I dont even know if it possible.
I have a main swf file that is loading multiple external SWF file when a menu button is clicked. Now I want to target a specific swf file to add an extra child from library or from another swf when that specific swf file is loaded. How should I do that? What should I put within the if statement?
var newswf:URLRequest= new URLRequest("./swfs/"+ event.target.name +".swf"); loader.load(newswf); addChild(loader); //loading swfs dynamically
There are 50 movies loaded sequentially. From Q1 thru Q29 I want to attach a particular title (mc) to the main movie and then for Q30 thru Q40 another and so on. The file is on an Learning Management Sytem so I'm using SCORM [code]...
I an running a website in flash and whenever the user comes onto the page, if he clicks a button before the SWF has loaded the file acts strange sending them to the wrong page. I am almost certain that the solution to this would be to halt my actionscript until the entire file has loaded in the browser.
i know this has proberbly been covered before, but how do i do this:i want my script to run a function only after an image has loaded using loadMovie is that possible?
I am building a website in which the nav bar has an animation on the "home" frame and not on the others. It works all nice until I come back to "home" and then my nav bar bugs. So I am thinking the best way to "refresh" the nav bar would be to removeChild(); and then add it again... but then when I go to the other frames (pages) it disappears. If I run addChild(); to every pages.. then it duplicates it and becomes buggy. Is there a way to run an if() function that would check if the nav bar is already there and addChild only if it is not there?
