ActionScript 3.0 :: Implement A Feature From A Game Called 'Tanks'?

I have been trying to implement a feature from a game called 'Tanks' (can be found at: mathsisfun.com/games/tanks) into one of my games. This is where upon shooting and destroying the dirt with explosives, all the dirt above it, where the explosives didn't reach, falls down.I have been trying for a while to get this effect to work, but with no success. My best attempt is atta hard to explain!). Even though the particles of dirt are so much bigger, it still lags like there is no tomorrow.

I am going to create an application in that i have to implement an Undo and Redo feature. In the application there will be multiple objects located on stage and user can customize the position of the objects. But when user clicks on Undo the object go back to their default position and after clicking on redo object will move on the new position. So my question is how can I apply these feature in my application? Is there any library or any third party classes?

I need to finish this code, the remove child works and removes the character mc, but I want to remove a fair few event listeners, so I can implement a drag and drop feature. My problem is would I need to list all the listeners to stop them on this frame? And this should only effect the listed listeners and not the new code for the drag and drop?

I'm creating a game like "Tanks" but my battlefields are not coming out very well. They look very jagged and not sloping like the game tanks. To give an idea what I am going for... tanks looks like this: [URL]I thought I could do a process like...Create turbidity. The slope may not be higher than this value (positive or negative.)Increase or decrease the slope based on a value between 0 and "turbidity."Somehow stop the terrain from being too high or negative I don't want the terrain to just say, "I'm too high." And snap back. I want a gradual sloping... which I'm not sure how to achieve. While keeping it constrained.Be able to have a symmetrical terrain with gradual slopingIt went well until I get to points 3 and 4. I can't stop my terrain from being too high or driving itself into the ground without it looking terrible. And I can't get a symmetrical terrain without a sharp point in the middle due to a high slope.

I want to load an external swf called 'signs.swf' into an empty mc called 'signholder'.

signholder.addChild(loadit2);
Everything works. Cool. But, I now want to target something within the signs.swf. How do I do it though? What is the path? Do I have to give the child of signholder an instance name? Everything I try fails.
If I wanted the root timeline of the external swf to gotoAndPlay(2) for example,...would i say...
signholder.loadit2.gotoAndPlay(2) ???

I am having issues with startDrag(). I have a movie clip called circle. Inside circle, I have a movie clip called circleFill and another called circleOutline.onEnterFrame, this movieClip is duplicated 4 times.
When I use this:
private function onPressNow(event:MouseEvent):void

startDrag();
}
IT DRAGS ALL 4 MOVIECLIPS.

how can I make it drag my movieClip called circle? (meaning both circleFill and outlineFill)

i have a box called infoBox that contains a text field called caption. infoBox expands on mouse-over. When it does so, I do not want the text in caption to scale up - I want it to stay at 11 pt. So far my code to prevent this from happening is not working:How do I fix this?[URL]..

I have a wordpress based site that stores information about an image in a database field called "background" in a table called "wp_postmeta".The 'loader' gets an url such as "/thisImage/background.swf"The "background.swf" should somehow display "background.jpg" instead but since I've changed the field name in the database (from background to temp_background) it doesn't work.I pass variables to the "loader" swf and they are correct based on the new field name but it still isn't working.I need to know if there is anything in the .fla's (and therefore the .swfs) that is pointing to somewhere in the database hard-coded. Basically I need someone to look at them and tell me how they are working.

I have a XML file which I am trying to integrate a search feature. I have attached a zipped folder of my working example.In this XML file is a collection of modules: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc...
Each module is broken down further:
1.1has: 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3
1.2has: 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.4 etc...
I have a search feature that is searching the XML, then outputting the content if found.Now this is working OK for a specific module listed above, for example, in my zipped example, I can get it to search 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3 etc...
What I can�t seem to get working is how to search all of the modules sections: eg: 1.1: 1.1.1-1.1.x, 1.2: 1.2.1 � 1.2.x and so on depending on how much content is sorted in my XML.

I'm making a map with Adobe Flash Professional CS5, using Actionscript 1 & 2, and I'm trying to add the ability to drag and pan while zoomed in. For the zooming, I put a button in either corner: a zoom out icon, and a zoom in icon. For the zoom-in icon, I used the code on (rollOver){ setProperty ("BG", _xscale, "200"); setProperty ("BG", _yscale, "200");} (BG being the name of the instance used for the background of the map, which is a movie clip.) Now, this zooms me in well to one corner, but then i want to be able to drag and pan to be able to see more of the map. I've found some good examples, but the code is way over my newbie head, and I can't get any examples of code I find to work, no matter what I've tried.

do you know how to use the embed fonts feature and css? or anti-alias the text that is styled using css? i have tried to set:
titlefield.embedFonts = true;
titlefield.stylesheet = sheet;
but it does not work. if i comment out the embedFonts the css works fine but the text is very aliased. but as3 does not support the embed font property within css.

I'm working on building a personal portfolio site right now. I wanted to add a scroll feature to one the pages. I wasn't sure how to build it, so I down loaded one off here [URL] and just plugged my own graphics into it. It scrolls up and down just fine, but when I try to put a mask over it, it doesn't work. In the content the author wrote for his movie he says "Note: If you want to have a mask over the content: copy MC:frame and make it a mask for MC:Page. If you do so, notice that "non-anti-alias text" is not possible anymore. This is a common thing in a Flash Movie. I keep trying that and it just blocks everything out all together. So what am I doing wrong?

I have recently received a copy of the Adobe eLearning suite, in particular I hope to use Flash for the majority of my elearning projects.I have been having trouble using the learning interactions that come ready to use with Flash. For example,I placed the drag and drop interaction onto the stage area, but when pressing F12 to preview and use this feature it would not work (could not drag the movie objects), the same goes for all the other features I can select radio buttons etc but when pressing the 'cheack answer' button nothing happens.Even though these interactions come with instructions which i have followed, it still does not seem to work. I do not wish for them to be scored, I just want the user to receive correct or incorrect feedback.

how to output the error messages I'm seeing in my output screen in the IDE to a text area, so I can see if such errors are occurring in production What I found is that the forum search feature is not working at all. I received no results for the words "error", "movie", "flash" and "text", items which are obviously ones which should return SOME results.I couldn't find any way to contact Adobe about this, so I am hoping someone who works for Adobe and watches the forums will pass this along.

My wish for future versions of Flash is that it should have this option to print entered ActionScript code in the colors. The purpose it that if I would like to analyse the code e.g. on a plane, anyway away from my pc, then I would have it pretty colored on paper, unlike if I would print it black/white via copy/paste into some text editor in order to print.

I started an animation in flash recently and the autosave feature was turned on. I had a good animation, but decided to play around with it a bit. After a little while, I decided to call it a night and exited the program making sure NOT to save my work. Upon opening that file the next time, I come to find out that Flash has autosaved my file while I was playing around. Now I have a worthless animation, and have to start from scratch. Is there any way to revert to a previous save, or autosave at this point, or am I about to do a lot of work again?
