I ask because I have two buttons in my settings: turn music on/off and sound on/off. turning music on and off is really easy because it uses a specific sound channel. But How do you turn off the volume the sound only (e.g. music is still playing but not the sound of the game)?
When I mute the sound via SoundMixer.soundtransform you can't hear anything so that's not what I wanted to have. In my game all sounds are thrown into an array. My first idea was that I go through all sounds listed in the array and turn off the volume but that's not working.

Nov 30, 2003I have an animation that plays a couple of different sound effects (depending on what button is pushed). I have a checkbox that I would like to use to turn on/off the sound effects. I have read somewhere that it is possible to set up sort of a global sound that if stopped, stops all sound effects. I have tried to set this sort of thing up but no success . When I test getValue() of my checkbox it seems to work (defaulted to true) but nothing happens when I uncheck the box. What am I doing wrong? p.s. In what forum would I make the suggestion to have a new category for just sound problems? Does anyone else think it would be a good thing to sequester sound issues in their own category?

They have to be done as separate requests because IE had a limit on the length of a single request, and fails silently if that limit is passed.
When ever this happens, if the user has their sound turned on there is a barrage of "click click click".

Oct 7, 2011I'll start off by saying I'm a newbie, just putting that out there. How do you make a turn by turn multiplayer flash game? I don't know if an engine is made in AS3, PHP, Javascript, or whatever,I made my game already, it's just that it isn'tmultiplayer yet. Basically, there are lines, and each player crosses out a number of lines, and the last player to cross out a line is the loser. I want it where one user crosses out some lines, then presses End Turn, then the other does their turn and then presses End Turn to allow the other player to move his cursor. But how can I get both players to see the same frame and only have one player have the ability to move the cursor during a turn? Is there some easily adaptable multiplayer engine for flash for newbies out there

Apr 16, 2011I am triggering short sounds dynamically from the library for a game (Specifically Air for Android). When the user clicks a button the sound can take up to 600ms to actually play. I have set it for any silence before the actual sound by calling the sound like so:

All return the same results. I know there are threads here that talk about this but none have offered a real solution that I can find. Is there no way to cache the sound or store it in a buffer?

Nov 18, 2010I have a XML file which I am trying to integrate a search feature. I have attached a zipped folder of my working example.In this XML file is a collection of modules: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc...
Each module is broken down further:
1.1has: 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3
1.2has: 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.4 etc...
I have a search feature that is searching the XML, then outputting the content if found.Now this is working OK for a specific module listed above, for example, in my zipped example, I can get it to search 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.1.3 etc...
What I can�t seem to get working is how to search all of the modules sections: eg: 1.1: 1.1.1-1.1.x, 1.2: 1.2.1 � 1.2.x and so on depending on how much content is sorted in my XML.

Aug 12, 2010I'm making a map with Adobe Flash Professional CS5, using Actionscript 1 & 2, and I'm trying to add the ability to drag and pan while zoomed in. For the zooming, I put a button in either corner: a zoom out icon, and a zoom in icon. For the zoom-in icon, I used the code on (rollOver){ setProperty ("BG", _xscale, "200"); setProperty ("BG", _yscale, "200");} (BG being the name of the instance used for the background of the map, which is a movie clip.) Now, this zooms me in well to one corner, but then i want to be able to drag and pan to be able to see more of the map. I've found some good examples, but the code is way over my newbie head, and I can't get any examples of code I find to work, no matter what I've tried.

but it does not work. if i comment out the embedFonts the css works fine but the text is very aliased. but as3 does not support the embed font property within css.

How To Add Scroll Feature To One Of Page On Portfolio Site
Jun 16, 2009I'm working on building a personal portfolio site right now. I wanted to add a scroll feature to one the pages. I wasn't sure how to build it, so I down loaded one off here [URL] and just plugged my own graphics into it. It scrolls up and down just fine, but when I try to put a mask over it, it doesn't work. In the content the author wrote for his movie he says "Note: If you want to have a mask over the content: copy MC:frame and make it a mask for MC:Page. If you do so, notice that "non-anti-alias text" is not possible anymore. This is a common thing in a Flash Movie. I keep trying that and it just blocks everything out all together. So what am I doing wrong?

Flash :: Pressing F12 To Preview And Use This Feature It Would Not Work ?
Jul 23, 2009I have recently received a copy of the Adobe eLearning suite, in particular I hope to use Flash for the majority of my elearning projects.I have been having trouble using the learning interactions that come ready to use with Flash. For example,I placed the drag and drop interaction onto the stage area, but when pressing F12 to preview and use this feature it would not work (could not drag the movie objects), the same goes for all the other features I can select radio buttons etc but when pressing the 'cheack answer' button nothing happens.Even though these interactions come with instructions which i have followed, it still does not seem to work. I do not wish for them to be scored, I just want the user to receive correct or incorrect feedback.
