I have a situation where I needed to embed certain glyphs (uppercase, lowercase and numerals) of ALL fonts in the system (preferably using AS3) to given dynamic text field. I have made a similar but different post earlier and someone answered it but that somehow is gone.
View 2 RepliesI like to know is "where, exactly, are you drawing that glyph?" The TextField class provides the methods getBounds and getCharBoundaries, but these methods return rectangles that extend far beyond the actual bounds of the whole text object or the individual character, respectively.

View 1 RepliesI save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.

I am importing a picture in flash and i found out that there is a difference between importing to the stage, and importing to the library... [URL] I've placed both picture close of each other and if you look closely, you'll notice that one of them is losing some resolution. Both picture come from the same file, a png. The picture imported to the stage is sharper than the one imported to the library. is there a way to import that picture to the library without losing any resolution?

Right I can upload the font to the server.But the only examples I can find - require registerFont(Verdana);Which means I'll need to create a new SWF with the new font embedded and reupload to the server. I need an automated way of doing this or perhaps something different altogether?

The button is isolated in its own FLA and SWF file(s). The plan was to import the common button, add a text label, and position it appropriately on the page. View 1 RepliesI've run into this incredibly annoying problem today. I have numerous dynamic textfields in my movie that embed the font Gill Sans MT. Some of them are normal/regualar, some of them are bold. But, in the published swf all bold text fields are displayed as normal/regular! I've investigated this for hours, and the only way I can get the bold font to display properly is to NOT use the regular one anywhere in the movie.
I also tried making a new flash movie containing two text fields, one that embeds Gill Sans Normal, and one that embeds Gill Sans Bold and that worked fine. So my suspicion now is that my original .fla has somehow gone corrupt so that the bold font data is overwritten with the normal font data. Is this a known issue?
I want to find a way to list all the fonts in my FLA files. I want to see that the developers get the fonts they need before the problems crop up - wild idea, I know. Using the edit/font mapping option seems to only show fonts which are missing or have been re-mapped. How do I get the FLA to give me the name of every font it's holding?

View 1 RepliesI have a number of .ttf fonts installed on my system (located in Win7/Windows/Fonts folder) which do not appear in Flash or other Adobe applications such as InDesign. I did try putting them in the Fonts folder of these programs instead of the default Windows location but that didn't work! The fonts are available in the font menu in Microsoft Word 2010. The fonts all have a dot before the file name, see below. So could that be the problem? I am using some of them to type Vietnamese characters.

I've always been able to import dwg/dwx files into Illustrator, edit out layers I dont need, export to swf, and import into Flash MX. I just got some new CAD files that wont open in Illustrator and am kinda stuck without a solution. Purchasing new software is no big deal I just want to be sure that it will open these new files and be able to export to Flash in a usable format.

First I have flv file no1 it contains buttons, animations, imported sounds and fonts, lot of layers, preloader and its all mixed on stage (its a kind of meny for a web page). Now Im working on flv no2 in which all the elements contained in flv no1 are represented as a small picture (button) which should call (make it visable like zooming that object) some mc that contains all the elements from flv no1 and working as they do in flv no1. how to pack all the elements in flv no1 in a form of movie clip and import it to flv no2 and preserve all the functionality.
View 1 RepliesI've masked out the backgrounds around some photos (of people) in Photoshop, and I'm importing them into Flash CS3 (Mac). When I import them in, they appear to have a color shift...they look lighter, more washed out than they did in Photoshop. My color space in Photoshop is sRGB, and I've tried importing the images as PSD and as PNG files, but no difference.

I am unable to do this so far and wondering if it is in fact possible to do this.. if so, does anyone know of any decent .avi to .mp4 conversion software that will allow the mp4 to be imported to flash as the ones I have tried so far are not allowing the mp4 to be imported.

I have posted this same question on the Captivate forum and have not received a response. The swf file seems to be playing fine, however, when I import it into Captivate the sound will not play anymore.

However when I export my swf, the video doesn't appear. I have been successful in the past doing this but for some reason it doesn't appear. I have looked at the publish settings and compared files and everything seems to be ok.

View 2 Replieslove the way CS4 has a nice media converter so you can instanly import FLV files but what I have recently found is that the voice of my videos all go out of sync when inputted into flash but are fine if I play then direct from my hard drive. If I import the file in CS3 and convert them directly in CS3 then the voices are all fine. Because i'm using many transparent .png images I have to use CS4 because CS3 adds a nice jagged edge when these are rotated.
