I have been trying to connect an animation I have created which plays upon clicking a button, to link to a url after the animation has played. I have Flash CS4 and am using AS3.0. I have searched all over the internet and tried many different options, but none seem to work. Below is the code and the error messages. (I did code check and it found no errors, but when I go to test the movie, it comes up with errors in the compiler panel).[code]

Each room I have made on seperate scenes, some rooms are on more than one scene (diff view points) and some room have a panoramic effect (these are the ones causing the problems). To accheive the panoramic scrolling I have made the room as a mC. Inside the mC I have buttons which should link to other scenes... 'enter the problem'. how do I link to another scene from in there? I have tried :

With the options I haev tried I keep getting different error mistakes and I can't really figure out whats wrong. I have been trying for a week and a half and I'm just not getting any positive results.

So I have 3 buttons. One button links to an animation, the second button links to a different animation, and the third one shows the links. The first button works properly, but when I click on the second button, it goes back to the animation that is shown at the first button. How do I fix this? Here is my code for the first button:

I have made sure that the button's instance name is button2, and that the scene name is "random".

I've converted a graphic that i imported into a button. And put this action script on it to go to a certain scene.

This button should make the movie go to scene 2, frame 1, but its just not workinBackground info:The first scene is jsut a short intro where a couple buttons finally come up in a keyframe. In the keyframe itself, I have a stop action so the main scene doesnt loop. And on each button I have the action that i wrote above, to go to certain scenes depending on which button i click. Am i totally setting this up wrong structurally? Do i need to put any kind of "Reset" action if i want to go back to a previous scene. Also, in each scene, I have a mouse hide and replace action, could this have anything to do with it?
I do have a mc with a dynamic text box in it, this dynamic text box is linked to an texternal text file where I have the text I wanted to be shown in my mc when I publish the movie.
When you see the text in the movie I want to be able to use part of the text as a button to redirect the timeline to another scene and exact frame. For the moment I try everything I could but no luck.
This is the script I have in the text file for the monent and is redirecting to frame 11 in the same mc.

I've got a dropdown menu in which i need to link to another scene on my site. The actionscript on the button i'm using is working if i put the link on the button on the main timeline, but when i nest the button inside the movieclip dropdown menu the actionscript on the button doesn't seem to work.url...The dropdown menu is on the left side, (actually a drop right menu,lol).And, also, the rest of the site still needs a lot of work so please don't comment on that.

I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:

I've recently made a simple standalone SWF in a projector format. It contains a button which links to a PDF ..

On PC this works fine (although it does open in a web browser rather than Acrobat). On Mac this link does nothing except open Firefox which refuses to open the PDF. The PDF themselves are fine and if clicked on at the source just fire up Acrobat (in Mac and PC).it's possible to force a file to open in a certain App?
I have a button object that I need to scale to align with the variable width of an array of images.However, when I set the width in code, the button does not actually become that width. Tracing out the width gives me the correct value, but on screen.. it's off.
I've proved it to myself by scaling the same button object manually in the properties pane and visually comparing. Both of the buttons below have a width of 410.

The buttons in the flash movie also link to movie frames in the flash and external html pages. Once movie plays and stops, all links work fine, the links to the anchors and the links to the other html pages, however when I try and link back to the flash movie from an external html page, to specific frames in the flash movie, the html link will link back to flash movie frame fine, however once your back in the flash movie, none of the buttons in the movie work anymore.I have embedded the flash movie in an HTML and published it with anchors,"home, about, events etc.used this code for several buttons in the flash linking to frame anchors in the movie:

I put an actionscript to make a "matrix effect" on the timeline, but it won't stop playing. It's just repeating over and over again. Even when I'm going to a next frame. Is there a way to stop the script from playing?

Check out what happens after percentage loaded. It just goes to Frame 1 of next scene but doesn't play it.... although if you right click and click PLAY it will indeed play it.. How to get it to start upon 100% loaded?? I SHOULD NOTE that the scene that won't play has an embedded FLV in timeline
I am using the following code to load .md2 model in a scene using Papervision3D 2.1.932.

I have an ordinary button and I have a little movie of an axe crashing down on the button when it is released. Once released what I want it to do is FINISH the axe chopping down THEN start the specified scene. the problem? the movie of the axe doesn't complete before the selected scene starts.

I am just testing out how to place a button to go to a scene.I have 2 scenes named, one and two and 2 buttons...One on each scene to get them back to the other scene.The instance names on the buttons are scen1_btn and scene2_btn.My Functions are just called scene1 and scene 2.The code I have below is what I wrote, and I thought would work, but isn't.[code]
View 5 RepliesI setup a movie as 5 different scenes. The first scene is the loading animation that sends the user to scene 2 when it's loaded, and then scenes 2-5 can be switched between with 4 buttons in each scene. These for buttons are on the root timeline and they work fine switching between scenes. But, I have a different button inside a mc on the root timeline that I want coded to load the next scene, but it won't work. I tried nextScene();, gotoAndStop("the_scene_name",1);, _root.nextScene();, and other combinations, all to no avail. But, if I put that same code in a button on the root timeline, works perfect. What am I doing wrong? I'm sure it's simple, but I couldn't find a solution in Help or the manual. Also, is it better to setup something like this as different scenes, or as separate movies?
View 1 Repliesive made a button in the scene 1 which i have managed to navigate to scene 2 but when i click the button it goes to scene 2 but displays everthing that is in scene 1 in scene 2, how can sort this out so upon the button click in scene 1 it goes to scene 2 and only display content in scene2.

in the first frame, first scene. Shouldn't that be where I but the include? (the buttons do work in scene) The buttons that are defined in external.as work in the first scene, but not in the other scenes. When I do an "include" in every scene, I get errors, no buttons work (makes sense....that should throw errors).

i have a button instance, within a movie clip within a scene. i can not get the gotoAndStop on a frame label within the scene to work. I CAN however get the gotoAndPlay code to work (which defeats the purpose).

I have a swf that is pretty complicated, you can interact with the page and go to different keyframes and it stops and/or starts depending on buttons, but I want to put it in a fla or something so I can put other swfs next to it and build it up and put several of them together as one.
I don't care about making it too complicated, I just want one interactive swf to go to the next compiled swf when that movie ends, but when I try importing it or loading it it just runs straight through without stopping or paying any attention to the scripting.
I am trying to more between frames using the data returned from a node n_EventID in an xml, when the node returns "1408" I want to move to frame 1 but if it returns anything else I want to move to frame 2. The part where the code moves to frame 2 seems to work perfectly but I can't seem to move to frame 1 when "1408" is returned.
