ActionScript 3.0 :: Load A Full Directory Of Images?

ok so on my stage (blank) when i load up the swf i want it to load up a directory of images from the hard drive/server and place them randomly on the stage within a border.then to go one further and have them clickable and open up bigger to be able to see it.im having trouble getting it to load a full directory of images in let alone have them selectable.

Anyway what im trying to achieve is - AS reads a directory on a server lets say, it contains 10 images, this would create movie clips for each one and assign them to array "pockets"(im not sure if you can do this in AS, you can in PHP and JS so I'd expect so) then I'd use a repetitive function to manipulate each one of those images.

I need to load multiple images from ZIP archive and do some actions after all files from ZIP archive have been loaded. I use FZip library to manipulate with ZIP files. My problem is that sometimes the loading of all files are not going.In this code I starting loading process:

i wrote a bit of actionscript to dynamically create an image gallery based on how many images are in a given directory. as of now, i've got it to display thumbnails in rows. my next step would be to get these thumbnails to link to the fullsize images, but i cant figure out how to do that. my code is as follows:

Is it possible for flash to access data from outside of the root directory of the server it resides.i.e.
Root directory = /var/www/httpdocs

When I have a class linked to a MovieClip in my library and that class takes an argument in its constructor method. That class will compile properly ONLY when it's located in my top-level directory (same dir as the .fla and Document.as files). If I move that class to a deeper directory, say com.place, and update the package statement and symbol link appropriately, the compiler will generate error "1136: Incorrect number of arguments. Expected 0."Create flash project and put a rectangle on the stage. Covert it to symbol and assign it to class TestPanel - or whatever you choose. Also configure the fla so that is uses a Document (Main) class.Create Main.as and TestPanel.as in the same folder. In the Main class, instantiate a instance of TestPanel and add it to the stage. Flash will, predictably, add the rectangle symbol and everything is fine.Now modify TestPanel so that its constructor method takes a Number and have Main.as pass some number to TestPanel.[code]You now get the error: 1136: Incorrect number of arguments.Expected 0.When I move the TestPanel.as into a deeper directory, Flash somehow is looking elsewhere for the base class for Symbol, even though I'm mapping that Symbol to com.place.TestPanel.

I have this function that loads an specific .log file:

The logNum variable gets its value, writing it by hand in a separate text file, avoiding to open and editing the .fla each time the new .log has a different name:
logNumLoader.load(new URLRequest("/Users/Me/trackLogNum.txt"));
Some application creates in each session a new .log file with this file name pattern: 127.0.0.1,NUMBER.log // Being NUMBER the 5 digit changing part of the name, each time a new .log file is created. The newer the file, the higher this value is. how to make this script to autoload the last .log file, as it has the highest value in its name.

I've looked at FileReferenceList and see how to get a list of files from the user's computer. This should work OK for my needs, but what I'd really like to do is have the user drag a directory from their desktop onto the app and iterate through the files. Is this possible or is FileReferenceList the best/only option?

I would like to select a specific xml file to load from a local directory. The file name is composed of "Title" + "number sequence". I know the Title (in this case its XLink07), but I need to select the latest number sequence or the latest by date stamp.
For example, the local directory has the following files:
XLink01[36735298100].xml
XLink02[36735298100].xml
XLink02[36735298101].xml
XLink07[36735298100].xml
XLink07[36735298101].xml
In this example I need to select file XLink07[XXXXXXXXXXX].xml where XXXXXXXXXXX is the highest number within the XLink07[XXXXXXXXXXX].xml files. Title is Xlink07 and function should return Number sequence [36735298101]. Files with higher number sequence have later date stamps than files with lower number sequences. I need to select the highest number or the latest date stamp for the file that begins with XLink07.
My action script to load the local .xml file without any function to select the correct file is:

I'm having issues with references. I'll do my best to explain the problem simply. I have a website I'm currently working on in flash. I've created the base of the site and most of its content. It functions fine. I went online and found a decent looking gallery that I wanted to incorporate into the site and it works great also. The gallery is in its own directory.
When I try and load the main .SWF of the gallery into another .SWF within the base directory, the references break. I understand that this is because its being pulled and the gallery's .SWF looks for its assets based on where its located. Is there anyway possible to make a .SWF keep its paths relative to where it is pulled from instead of changing when it is pulled into another .SWF from different directories?

I am having troubles with a Flash presentation (photo gallery) file that is stretching the images out of proportion. The photo gallery is a fullscreen presentation and it acquires the images from an external images folder via a XML file. Is there any particular code that I'm not aware of to keep the images displaying in their correct proportion in fullscreen instead of them stretching all the time?

I am trying to build an XML gallery by loading thumbs from the XML file and then once the thumbs are loaded, when I click on a thumb the corresponding main image should be loaded into an imageContainer mc. I got the thumbs to load using a for loop that loops through an XMLList but now I cannot get the thumbs load the corresponding image because I keep getting this error
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
maybe I messed up my references or something... here's my code:

is there a better way of loading the thumbs so that I could get better references to each thumb, like for example loading them sequentially and then adding the click event listener to the thumb itself rather than to the thumbContainer which holds all the thumbs?

It works fine but I want to change it so the scaling is determined by the browser height, at the moment it scales to the browser width so you lose some of the image height - Also, need to keep the images in proportion

I just created my first website, but one of my AS3 XML image galleries are not working properly. I followed the XML Grid gallery tutorial at to "T" and am using it on 5 of my pages, however, the "PRODUCTS" will not load the "full" images.The thumbnails load, they decrease opacity when moused over, but once you click on one, the progress bar loads till complete and just stops. This problem, however, only occurred after I hosted it on When I test it (Ctrl+Enter) in Flash, test it in Dreamweaver or open the .html of it from my computer, everything works perfectly. It is only after I FTP upload all the files to iPage's server that this problem occurs. Is it a problem with Ipage?Are too many images trying to load??Furthermore, for some odd reason the 1st image, 4th row down on the "Products" page DOES load the full image but the others still dont and I can't for the life of me figure out why

What's the best practice to scale images in full browser sites? I am new to Flash and have a pretty good understanding of how most things work in Flash. My newest goal is getting Flash to scale 100% on all browsers. But when I do, my pictures become pixelated and I'm sure videos would do this as well. So my question is - what's the best practice or actionscript to keep this from happening? Sites like [URL] that have utilized their abilities to scale their images on any browser are great examples. How can I achieve this?

I have a swf that loads images from my server and resizes them to fit the 800x600 stage size. The original images are stored at 1024x768 max pixels. The user can press a button to go into fullscreen mode. What should I do to show the images at the best quality?
a) should I resize the loaded images to their max size (1024x768).
b) do I need to reload the entire image if it has been resized to 800x600 or is the original image still accessible and I can replace the 800x600 image with the original?
I am using AS2 and Flash 8 (but require users to have Flash Player 10 for fullscreen)

I am trying to load multiple images into a scene and then cycle through the images one at a time.So, here are the essentials what I've put together in AS3:First I set up a counter and a Loader

Then, after loading a list of images from an XML file, I call a function that I called "createImages". This function then takes the list of images and creates a bunch of loaders:

So far, so good! I now have a bunch of loaders each with a different name "img1","img2","img3" etc.

I am currently building myself an online photography portfolio. I want scalable full screen photos. The only problem here is, photos are different sizes and landscape/portrait. This is what I have so far. [URL]. If you resize the browser to a different ratio to the landscape image, you see black margins top and bottom. I want the image to always bleed.

I am using actionscript 3. I can load an image in a class but how do Iload a number of images eg 4 images that animate.?These 4 images are a walking sequnce of a character. I am unclear after googling an loading multi images in as3( just love google).
Loading a single image I load this into a loader Once loaded I load the image into a bitmap and add to a sprite I then add the spite to the stage Q)Now for 4 related images I load 4 loader or 4 sprites or 4 bitmaps or do every thing 4 times?I want to do collisions eventually and I need bitmaps but bitmaps seem useless to use other than collisions.Googling for answers isnt helping me clarify this!

I have a rotaing menu that loads in images from an xml file, I would also like it to load in text info from the same xml file to the left side of the images that load in. In my main .fla have created a movieclip and called it 'textInfo' and inside that I have two dynamic text fields called 'headerText' and 'bodyText' where I want to load the text in. this is what I am using to loading in the text in my actionscript, is this correct?

I am developing a high end full screen flash site, the swf technically takes up the whole sceen but elements within it are positioned relative to the browser.
What we are looking to do is have the main page with the full screen Flash piece remain the entire time. When a button is clicked a separate url / html file of content will display in a window or borderless area on top of Flash, scrolling if necessary and preferably with a bit of transparency so you can see the Flash beneath it. The content pages will be formatted by css and the client will have the ability to update via CMS, the page might contain images, swfs, etc.
Nick Stakenburg's Lightview works flawlessly but it hides the Flash when it loads the iframe. This is not acceptable and I have been all over the Lightview forums and trying different hacks and tweaks (wmode, zindex, etc), none have worked and he has basically said that Lightview hides Flash and some other objects so they don't overlay Lightview and that that is his only cross browser solution for now.

I have created a bit of flash that buffers and loads an flv which plays up to a certain cue point and then seeks back 2 seconds ina loop, Got that OK.Now what I want to do is make certain movieclips visible and fade in when the video has initially buffered but heres the problem, when the video loops back it re-does these actions of fading in the movieclips as if it has just buffered again, but I want it to only fade the clips in when it has initially buffered not when it re-loops.[code]

im trying to load a swf in the center of a full swf background and cannot get it to work.
i got the resize function to work properly, but when it first loads it is not centered properly
for some reason it recognizes the resize code by not the initial code
