ActionScript 3.0 :: Make Scrolling Terrain - Scroll Down The Screen In Random Positions
Nov 12, 2011
i need to make scrolling terrain but dont have how to do it for the code? What i want to do is 5 objects lets call them A,B,C,D,E scroll down the screen in random positions
I've created a game engine using bitmaps and box2D, the floors for the game engine is made out of a number of lines which then has a bitmap fill applied to it, then it adds a little bit of grass on top of these floors....Here's a quick video to show you what I'm talking about:http:[url].....
This all works fine on my main computer, but when I move over to my netbook, I struggle to get 10fps... Because of this I am now looking for as many ways as possible to improve the efficiency of my code. So far what I've done that appears to of had some positive effect is:
- Use bitmapCaching on layers where it's appropriate to do so.
- Use scrollRect to scroll on only the necessary part of each of the layers.
However I'm still having big problems when it comes to scrolling the terrain on my netbook - are there any ideas that anyone might have which might be able to speed up the game slightly?
I was unable to find any good tutorials or hints on terrain scrollers that isn't random.. like a huge world, and a map that points where on the map you are.
I have created two scroll buttons for my dynamic text field, following this guideMy problem is, that you have to click the buttons many times to scroll down to the end.How do you make it possible to "Press and hold" the mousebutton instead?My code is as follows:TextField name: scrollableTextButton Up Code:
Code: on (press, release, keyPress "<Up>") { currentScroll = scrollableText.scroll;
I am trying to make scrolling text appear on a few screens, so that when I click on a button to go to the next frame the characters of a sentence will appear one after another as if someone is talking. This works a few times however when I go back to the first frame the following error occurs and the text no longer appears??
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at rollingtext_fla::MainTimeline/runthree() at Function/[URL]::apply() at SetIntervalTimer/onTimer() at flash.utils::Timer/_timerDispatch() at flash.utils::Timer/tick()
This is my code basically the same for each new frame stop()var talkinterval=setInterval(runone,60)var i:Number; i=0 function runone() { var text:String = "Restrictive signs come in red and blue circles."; text1.appendText(text.charAt(i)); i++; }; b_next.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, nexts)function nexts(e:MouseEvent){ clearInterval(talkinterval) gotoAndStop("h") }
I am trying to make the screen scroll like the helicopter game, using action script or any other way can anyone guide me to a tutorial or any other have to find out how to do this?
here i have a jpeg pic to show you want i want to do. i was wondering if you could tell me how i can make a mask so that i can make images scroll at the top of the screen in that rectangle box and the arrows on the left and right scroll the images from side to side. how can this be done
I would like to scroll content in a Movie Clip (size: 10000 x 8000 px) with Flash Scrollpane component (AS3). However, I want to make the content scroll in both X & Y axis instead of along of the scrollbar axis. How can I achieve this?
how i can make a mask so that i can make images scroll at the top of the screen in that rectangle box and the arrows on the left and right scroll the images from side to side.
I just made a scroll area with buttons and draggable items. All the code is written for vertical scrolling, the content I need to be scrolled is going to be horizontal. how can I rewrite this code to be horizontal scrolling? it seems like the scroll button (the one you drag along) doesn't stay confined to its scroll line either.
I am trying to put certain x and y positions into an array so that I can randomly change positions based on the positions stored into that array for example
Code:
Select all var rbtxp:Array = new Array(-65, 1, 580, -920, 1316, 684); var rbtyp:Array = new Array(-234, -1248, -550, 268, -72, 525);
I have 6 buttons aligned horizontally. When I press one button, I want all of the buttons to move to different _X positions with easing that would be specified in an array or in a variable. I'm looking for the easiest code. I had the code and a fla. for this a few years ago when I was deep into Flash, mastering actionscript. Now, it's like starting over.
Also, can anyone assist me with a similar, more advanced code? It's the same as above, but when one presses a button, that button pressed would move to a specified _X position, and the button that was previously in that _X position would get back in line, to the far left of all the buttons...
I have three movie clips on my stage. Their names in my library are a1_mc, a1_mc2, and a1_mc3. Each of those movie clips on my stage has a different instance name. All of these are connected with an actionscript in the same file.Now, I'd like the movie clips to appear at a random position every time, they are loaded.
I already tried to make a new array and solve this issue with the sort() command. However, that did not work out properly. The positions and instance names of the movie clips on my stage are as follows:
a1_mc instance name on stage: a1 position on stage: X = 20.0 | Y = 140.0
I have a black stage, and I use the following code to add images to the stage at random positions container.x = stage.stageWidth / 5 + Math.floor(Math.random() * (stage.stageWidth / 2)); container.y = stage.stageHeight / 5 + Math.floor(Math.random() * (stage.stageHeight / 3)); My maths is a bit terrible, so when I try moving the images about, I tend to just play with the numbers, not knowing what they are for. At the moment, the images all get placed roughly in the middle of my stage, which is basically what I want. However, If possible, I dont want the images so close to each other. At the moment, some images end up sitting on top of other images etc. Is there anything I can do to the code above to spread the images out a bit?
I'm making a side-scrolling game, with a (theoretically) infinite background. I have a block engine that places the blocks on the bitmap canvas. Now here's the catch. I'm using the bitmapData.scroll() function. Now unless I clear the screen each time the character moves, it's going to leave ghost images of the border of the screen, like this picture: zanzlanz. tumblr. com/post/18857712784 If I clear the screen each time, then it generates a lot of lag (because it has to repaint the objects again). I'm a bit lost on how I can scroll without leaving streaks of the side of the screen and without repainting the entire screen.
I have thumbs placed on the stage. I create an empty mc to load swf. But my thumbs disappear from the stage when I test the movie ( html or swf) if I settle the _ and _y position of the empty mc.why the emptymovieclip positions affect the positions of my thumbnails?
I tried to input a text from a css, which its height is greater than the target text field, so a scroll bar was placed. but I was wonder that why the scroll bar doesnt enable scrolling after loading the text.
import fl.text.TLFTextField; import fl.controls.UIScrollBar; var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
When i scroll the scrollBar in Flash the browser is scrolling too. What i need is to stop scrolling the browser and scroll only the flash box. And the Browser have to scroll only then when the flash scrollbar is in end.
When I was starting to drag any element, mouse wheel scrolling is turned off, how to scroll while dragging?I'm newbie here, so I can't insert a picture, here's a link
I would like to simply scroll through a flash movieclip using my mouse wheel. Here is the work i've done thus far (http:url].....).Each image is a separate frame in a movie clip.I had this working in Flash AS2 but then all of a sudden the web-page started scrolling around as well when scrolling with the mouse wheel.I see there is a solution here: http:[url].....
how I would add scroll wheel capability to the scrolling? I've tried a few methods, but I'm not very good at class based coding, and from I've read, it's necessary to perform that function.
Here's the scenario... I have an .swf that is 1050px in height. On most browser's that is too tall. What I'd like to do, is use the browser's scroll bars to auto scroll to the bottom of the page during the loading sequence, and then scroll back up to the top. To do this, I'll need to make a javascript function call using ExternalInterface.call();
I found a suitable smooth scrolling javascript example on the internet. [URL] By clicking <a href> links, it scrolls to HTML anchors on the page. I figured that instead of clicking on the textual links like in that example, I could simulate the event by calling the event from flash. I'm just not sure how to do it exactly.
I have a dynamic textbox I would like to scroll. Currently I have 2 images set to scroll up and down with the following actionscript.
[Code]...
The code works fine, though I want when I press, the box to keep scrolling. Currently I have to press, press, press, press, to get a small amount down.
