I am making a spin wheel and the hitTestObject doesn't seems to be displaying correctly Basically, there is an arrow (the finger that locate where the wheel stopped) and the wheel itself. The wheel is divided into different segments, and each of these segments can be control by the code. Here's the problem though, my arrow is at the top of the wheel and it only touches 1 of the segment, but whenever I use the hitTestObject method with the arrow and the segments, it somehow detect several segments instead of one. These segments are not overlapping one another so I don't understand why it is detecting several hits instead of one.
For a project, I'm making an interactive side scroller.You move the character with the arrow keys and press the space bar to interact with things.So far, I followed DexNote's tutorial on YouTube.I thought that I would make the interactable objects as buttons, while the mouse focus would be on the character and when you press the space bar it make a mouse click in that area.The trouble I'm having now is that I don't know how to make the space bar trigger the "interactions."
I want to generate large text files, basically 4 columns, several thousand rows, of numbers. Making an array with all this info in it occurs farily quickly, it's getting it to a displayable format that takes a really long time. Right now I use something like this:
Is there a reason why an xml file would not display in certain Macs. follow this link and view the gallery section and thats where the problem apparently in happening.
I started with a great water filling animation on Flashkit that was only 200px wide. It is old, Flash 5, AS1 & for the life of me I can not figure out why the stage is being cut off when I widened it to 300px. The only AS is [code]
I have started to put together a flash piece. When I preview it, it displays as it should, however if I export the movie and then view the swf it doesn't display the animations from within one of the folders. I have made sure that the layers aren't hidden.
My SWF works well in all three browsers when tested on my local system: Firefox, IE and Safari.However,when tested from the server FireFox and Safari both do not complete a portion of the SWF motion.I have a number of dots that move in from different directions then line up followed by moving text and objects. in both Firefox and Safari the dots only begin to move then the SWF move on to display the other objects correctly.Am I looking at a timing issue or a loading issue?The site is [url].... view the top banner.
I am attempting to use css to create a rollover on my top button bar. I know that the css works, but I cannot get it to display.since i am a new user, I am not sure how I can show my problem, I am not getting an error and my code is validated.
I have different flash movies that I want to display on my page. Depends on what movie person click. I am doing it by changing the inner html calling the following javascript function.It seems to be working fine.
Code:
<SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript"> function openDemo_MarketGuys(demo) {
So out of all the browsers I have access to IE9 is displaying old-style object embedded Flash code at left:0; top:0; All other browsers, including IE 8 have no issues at all.

But if I upgrade to using swfobject IE 8 and 9 simply display an empty space:

But Chrome, Safari, and FireFox are all happily displaying the Flash.
I have been searching the forum and also the Internet how to display the special characters such as &, +, < > from db using ASP and Flash. Unfortunately I am not able to find the correct solution yet. I have tried "System.useCodepage = false;" in flash and also use the following in my loading asp file
Whenever I typed the "&" on flash input text, it will be saved on DB but when I load the text back to flash, whatever text that is after the "&" is gone.
This is only happening here and there, not on every copy ofIE. Of course, the problem machines are w/ our offsite salespeople, so I can't troubleshoot right in front of the machines.Instead of displaying the video, just the FLV icon displays on inthe browser. URL for problem video:
So i've created an interface for a lobby display. It's running on a 52" LCD (1280x768). I have the computer hard wired to the display (HP Laptop with standalone flash player) and have the same resolution settings set on it. Now, I built the interface on my Mac desktop and have the stage set to 1280x768.
The kicker: When i run it on the display, there's a lot of extra vertical space at the bottom. When i change the resolution to 1280x1024, it fills the screen vertically properly, but then shortens it horizontally.
I have set up a galleriy of work that I have done for clients, I have used a simple url request to load the files.[URL].Why won't the files display in the browser.They display loacally just fine, but when I change the file path to the site it stops working.

Made this class that loads pictures for me. You pass on the picture URL, the object that the picture needs to be added to and a function to do after the image is loaded.Here is the class:
Right now I have an application that reads an XML and displays thumbnails of images. A user clicks on the thumbnail and a larger image appears.
What I would like to do is, instead of loading "images" into the thumbnails from the XML, I would like to load "text" into the thumbnails from the XML. So now the user can click on the text and an image would appear.
Earlier today my motion preset displayed perfectly.I was able to set motion presets easily.Then later in the day it will not display.I know that I have to first go to Window - select Motion Preset and it should displayI couldn't be missing a step since it was working perfectly all day. How do I get it back?
I embedded a flash (.flv) file in html page via dreamweaver cs4. the page displays the flash locally, and also remotely if i remote desktop and view. However when I launch the website via live url all i get is a blank white box where the flash content should be. I've checked permissions via flash security settings, and can't seem to make it work. I believe the code is valid or it wouldnt play on the local and remote desktops.
I am running a website template and i had to change the text but there is alot more text then what I started with.and now it won't all display of it I am new to Flash and not sure what to change to make it work like I need/
I have bought some flash components that used to work in Flash 8 and CS3, but suddenly they do not appear in my components list within Flash CS4 ! I have reinstelled them with components exchange and apparently they are successfully installed , but once I enter Flash CS4 there are not.
I have a popup that displays over another button. Most part of the popup is covering that (big) button. When I hover the mouse over the popup. the button still acts. I've changed the popup to a button as well, but the result is still that the mouse becomes a hand, which I don't want. Is there a better way to solve this? If not, how can I disable the hand?
I am building flash site with a number of different pages containing a variety of different things (picture gallery from an external swf, pictures, text, contact form etc). This is all working fine apart from one thing. On my contact form I have the following code to create a textField to contain the contact information. I do it this way so i can automatically resize the textField and align it to the bottom of the page no matter how much text is present.
The problem is once you have visited thecontact page once (and run this code to create the textField) then it appears on every other frame of the video (even though it is contained on it's own layer within the contact page keyframes). I thought that if you created a textField like this then it would only display on the current frame and until there was another keyframe (much like if you manually add a textField onto a frame).
My current code is: // Creating textfield text formatfieldTextFormat = new TextFormat();fieldTextFormat.bold = false;fieldTextFormat.italic = false;fieldTextFormat.align = "right";fieldTextFormat.color = "0xffffff";//fieldTextFormat.font = "Arial";fieldTextFormat.font = "EmbeddedCenturyGothic"; [Code] .....
I have several swf files embedded in my website, but they don't display immediately in the browser. The rest of the page (html) displays without delay, but there's always about a 1 or 2 second lag for the swf. Is there a way to optimize the swf files so they load immediately along with the rest of the page?
I have a flash movie atwww.cityofhillcrestvillage.org that will not display either locally or remotely in IE8. It is written in actionscript 2 and requires Flash Player 7 or greater. It displays fine in Chrome and Firefox. I tested it in all three browsers when I first developed it a couple of months ago and it worked fine.When the page first loads, it flashes on for a second, then disappears, and the alternate content does not display. If you reload the page, it flashes on again for a split second.
I have six buttons, and I want each one to display a corresponding externally loaded swf, 01.swf, 02.swf.
It works fine, except that sometimes swfs load up, and sometimes they don't. For example, if I hit button 6, the 06.swf loads. but if I hit button 6 after hitting 3 other buttons, SOMETIMES 06.swf loads, other times it doens't and I get an error that relates to the removeChild
var loader2:Loader = new Loader(); function showVid (evt): void { if (e1.data.childAdded2 == true) {this.removeChild(loader2);};
I've got a customized xml driven flv player that I have output as an swf. It looks and works perfectly[url]...
However, when that very swf file is called into another swf file via the UILoader componenent, those modifications don't show up.[url]... The red text is now white and the orange fade-up blinks black first.
