Jun 2, 2010I built a timeline based player with 2 menus and many videos that you can play.The buttons move the timeline to a frame label and the video plays. The back button has a stop function built in it so the video stops playing when its hit.It plays wonderfully locally but once on a server after a few clicks it boggs down and sometimes the audio from the last video remains playing even when prompted to stop. I was pointed to use the add and remove child functions to prevent this but being very new to Flash and 100% self taught i have zero idea on how to do this. May 22, 2009On load - Get the current position of the movieclip object on stage which is stored in MySQL through PHP.When the user moves the movieclip object, update the x and y position of the object by sending it to MySQL through PHP.It's a pretty simple way of understanding Flash/PHP/MySQL Integration and I find it much less complex than a socket server but I don't think it's efficient enough to use with the constant queries. [URL] Does not really work very well, dont think the Y position works at all lol, when you refresh the page it is suppose to save your current object position into the database then load it again but it appears a bit buggy, not completely sure why - I'm pretty new to Load/Send but it doesnt matter much. Also the movement appears to be lagged too and opening a new window as a 'new user' does not share the same instance of the object on stage (I think that would require me to make seperate ID's for each user though to give them their own unique objects on stage.)Is there any better (more efficient and reliable) way of creating a stage for multi-user interaction (like player characters for a game which move around by user key input, not a chat room)...Which does not involve the use of a socket server?

Jul 15, 2011We are currently using some simple AS2 templates with adobe connect pro to add some interactivity to our elearning courses. We are hoping to take this a step further using SDK to give a live report to the meeting host. A current AS2 template that we use looks like this: The .swf contains 4 buttons, only 1 of which is the correct answer. Currently, the participant will click the correct button in their individual instance and reveal a message informing them that they are correct and may move on to the next question. It would be a greater learning experience if once all of the participants had answered, everyone in the meeting could see a break-down of what answers people gave.
E.g. 77% selected answer A 10% selected answer B. This could then be analysed and discussed with the trainer. I know this is not disimilar to the poll function built into connect but we need the answers to be images rather than text. Therefore, the question is really around the coding that would be used to implement such a system and as to what code we could use. We are not professional flash developers, rather trainers that have begun to dabble in self-taught flash and can use the SDK on a very basic level for synchronizing text input fields and pod re-sizing etc.

It worked very well!NetConnection -> NetGroup -> 2 NetStreams -> netstream play and publish -> last, netgroup post.The sample was all OK.[code]I couldn't get events about NetGroup and NetStream any more..When using Stratus, It worked well...I am not familiar with FMS.. did I skip something in FMS setting?

Sep 20, 2010I have performance issues with my test web chat app - video playback is very slow on, around 1 frame per few seconds at 640x480, 15fps, quality: 90. Network usage is low (gigabit LAN), cpu's still have some headroom so it should be the software.
Quick description of my setup:red5 0.9.1; simple flash broadcast and subscribe derived from here [URL] and mr. accattato's videos; using oflaDemo on serverside.
Local image on the broadcaster is good.So far I guess flash broadcaster would be the most likely culprit, but here is my worst since I am new to flex. Red5 should not modify the stream I guess, and it doesn't make much sense for the subscriber to play only 1 frame per second.

Oct 7, 2010Looking for a component which can be embedded inside my site (PHP, ASP.NET...whatever) and give a support for video chat. I'm not a flex developer and would like to use a component. There are some/many video chats available, like flashcoms, red5chat...but all of those are heavy(monolit) components.
What I would like to have on my site is just a small video showing output from my camera (me) and another video showing the other party...but those videos should be split, not in the same flash component, but separate (two different EMBED tags on my page).
Are there any components available to do that (of course with support from appropriate media server)? Are there any good guides on how to develop such a component?
Flash :: P2P Video Chat - Open Firewall Ports
Jan 4, 2011I just wrote a P2P video chat similiar to the Cirrus example application on my web site. It works great, as long as both users manually open the ports required for RTMFP. Naturally this is a deal breaker for me - since no one will use it. What is the standard solution in this case? Should I publish the instructions of how to open the ports on different firewalls? Should I write a small batch file to be downloaded that programmatically opens the ports? Is there a different (commercial) tool that allows me to bypass it in any other way?

So, in terms of feasibility:
client-side: how can one access to cam and mic local streams not using flash ?
server-side: are there any existing frameworks or open source servers (something like red5) that focus on this kind of use cases ? If not, what do I need to build my own (lightweight) visio chat server ?
Flex :: Develop A Video Chat Web Application In Java?
Apr 19, 2011Currently we are in the design phase of an application that will allow two users to communicate with each other using chat and video (with audio), the application is a web application that currently is a java web app with Spring and hibernate, but we want to incorporate video and chat between two users and we are evaluating the options to developing it, so far we have two choices, either develop a Flex UI that leverages its video and chatting capabilities through Red5 or something like that and communicates with the Spring app using BlazeDS or a completely java based approach using (maybe) JMF and/or applets to achieve the video and chat interaction. The question is, which would be the most scalable approach to develop such an application?, what would be the approach that is the least intrusive from the end user perspective?
