I have a video player I am trying to simply pass information from a javascript link to tell it which video to play. javascript seems fine but when it trys to call the actionscript function it comes up as undefined can anyone post a simple example of the actionscript and javascript call?

View 1 RepliesI am trying to play .mp3 files with all of the above media players (Strobe Media Playback/OSMF/REOPS) which all support .mp3 files.
If I pass a direct link the mp3 file on the web server like http://example.com/audio.mp3 is all works fine.
The problem comes when I try to load an mp3 file that doesn't exist on the web server but is returned through a .php file: [URL]

I get the error "We are unable to connect to the content you've requested. We apologize for the inconvenience."
Has anyone successfully played a video or audio clip from a .php link? This might be more of a php question then as3.
The mp3 plays in the browser fine and through the Flash AS3 astra yahoo audio player component.
I would like to upgrade to from the old yahoo audio player to the Strobe Media Playback player.

I am trying to play a video dynamically and make it clickable as like a link.[code]The Video player seems to appear and the video plays well too but there is a problem with the onClick Event which doesnt work no matter what i try. the click action never seems to work..what am i doing wrong here.

My client would like to have a button which, when clicked, would open a youtube video in a lightbox frame. I've been looking all around, but all I see that seems workable involves my being able to edit the html page. I am trying to do this with AS3 and Javascript. I got a dwg file converted into swf file. Now I want this swf file to embed in html page. No issue with that. The tricky part for me is to let the user select the entites of the file such as line/circle as one might select in autocad. After entity selection the swf file (by any means) pass the selected entity information back to the html page ( to the javascript function).

but..it does not work, i keep seeing to tekst from frame 1 and the "other info" frame flickering both at same time and the button does not do a thing...
I'm new to flash and just need to do a simple task but I can't manage to get it to work. I'm trying to import a video (flv) into a SWF container and need to AS functions which should be exposed to JS (using liveconnect or anything else). These two function should toggle sound on/off and toggle play/pause. I dont need any user interface or a full featured player, just these two functions.

I have a web page with a couple of Flash Input TextFields. When I press a button on my web page, I am using javascript (jQuery) to get all the values from the text fields and checkboxes etc on the page.
In order to get a value out of my Flash TextField, I understand that I have to use the ExternalInterface API. I am using ActionScript 3.0 and Flash CS4.
In the flash IDE, I have a layer with just the textbox instance and another layer 'actions', which has all the actionscript.
As soon as I put: import flash.external.ExternalInterface
in my code, then the textfields full functionality does not seem to work on the webpage.
I assumed what I had to do was something like:

then I thought that perhaps I had to call a javascript function to return the textfields value like so:

but nothing is working, and I think it is strange that the textfields functionality (some letters being styled) does not work as soon as I import the ExternalInterface class. I have tried putting the ActionScript 'actions' layer in a package, but it didn't help. As you can probably tell I am new to Flash and Actionscript, and I would be very greatful if someone could point me in the right direction.

The video file can be mp4,avi,mpg,mov. I dont want them to play in swf... I just want to load the file and show the meta tag information as text. For audio files i can get id3 information after loading the song.But is there any other way to get them with out loading the sound? Each loading will take time to give the result.

I don't know how to ask this, but the thing is that i was thinking that how does youtube or videofy.me like video blogs send the video path & all info to a flash video player i mean when e click on any video link how does it sets up everything and displays the chosen video, because actually i've created one but in that i had to set up the whole page via flash so that it can manipulate the information like path & name of the video, and cannot use html links, php and all.. so can u people tell me how do i start up & how this process is done & what i need to do & other important things on this.. i mean sending any info to a flash player via any scripting or server side language.

Let's say I have a class that has a constructor which accepts some parameters.

Is there a way I can link this to a movieclip and pass the parameter? From what I've found there are two ways to link the class to a movieclip, one using the registerClass and another typing the name intro the Linkage Box in the Library. But in both cases there are no parameters being setup.
