ActionScript 3.0 :: Pass The Metadata Information Received In The Following Code To Another Class?
Oct 27, 2009
Im trying to pass the metadata information received in the following code to another class. The below code generates a trace response of 162... so I am receiving the data I just need to be able to call the totalLength variable from another class with the same response of 162. I know this should be relatively easy...
I have a custom event that is dispatched when a slider is moved but I receive no event from inherited dispatcher class I created whereas I followed the same syntax as solution for My flash custom event doesn't trigger
I have a flash movie that tries to load an XML file on startup. Right now it looks for a hard-coded filename, but I'd really, really love to be able to pass a filename in through the webpage that plays it. (possibly through a param tag or some such?)
I have a video player I am trying to simply pass information from a javascript link to tell it which video to play. javascript seems fine but when it trys to call the actionscript function it comes up as undefined can anyone post a simple example of the actionscript and javascript call?
I got a dwg file converted into swf file. Now I want this swf file to embed in html page. No issue with that. The tricky part for me is to let the user select the entites of the file such as line/circle as one might select in autocad. After entity selection the swf file (by any means) pass the selected entity information back to the html page ( to the javascript function).
If you run these, you'll notice that the MXML-component can't hear the event. The question is simple, is there some way of getting the Event-metadata tag to work WITHOUT extending EventDispatcher? I would like to keep this class independent and use object composition as much as possible. And no, I don't want to use ActionScript addEventListener in the MXML-file. It doesn't tell the developer anything like good old Event metadata tag, and besides, that is not the point of this example. :)
i have a template made of flash and in the page of "contact us"i have 4 boxes of input text in the stage - for the client phone etc'.i have a "send" button and a "clear" button under these boxes.but i don't know the action script for these buttons at all.by tell me the code for these buttons (and what kind of email account i can direct this information to: shouls it be a web mail - like these you get from the hosting company - or it can be a simple email account - like gmail or hotmail..)
I have a question about the loader class.I was reading some of the documentation on the follow web page:http:[url]....And I didn't get very far before I had my first question about how the loader class pulls in external information:
Quote:The loaded display object is added as a child of the Loader object.
Question one: By "display object" they are referring to your external content (.swf / .jpg / .mp3) correct?
Question two: "is added as a child of the Loader object" Dose this mean that you could define one instance of the loader class, and then have several URLRequests that plug into that one loader class. So in other words can you have multiple forms of content from different directory's being loaded through ONE loader class instance?I'm a visual person so I mapped my current understanding of this process in the follow Img.
Got to the point where the hole in my AS3 knowledge is getting large!Realising I have confusion about the relationship of:Body of code on first frame of AS3 file.(Which I have so far used to create instances of library objects using addchild and make calls to class code). Is this code called the document code? What do people call it?Numerous classes linked together by extending each other etc.Library objects (usually graphical objects)Should it be done differently? have the following problems due to lack of understanding:Addchild complicated from a class but straight forward in main body code.Cant call functions on the main body code from classes, because class code does not know the main body code exists?
I'm currently writing a feature for an interactive periodic table which dynamically displays the name of the element and other properties when you hover over the element. I have thought of three ways to do this and I am wondering which is the best, memory-wise and speed-wise, for loading this information.
make a class with an array ( new Array("hydrogen", "helium", "lithium",...etc.)), instantiating it, then accessing the info with object.arr[i] make a class with a static array (otherwise, same as no.1), importing it, then accessing the info with class.arr[i] put the information into an external xml file and accessing it from there. The 3rd method seems excessive as you have to go through the hassle of adding event listeners for URLloader every time. Is there any difference between the 1st and 2nd way? (What is happening in terms of memory when you are importing a class - is the entire array added to memory?)
I had a 2 frame setup with some actionscript for each frame. Tried to move it all into one class file and a
1. frame .fla. ; Hiding and showing the resp. moviclips when i virtually move from frame 1 to frame
2. Now I get these ...Error #1069: Property edit_panel_mc not found on flash.display and there is no default value. errors or..
when i thought beeing clever adding the stage. prefix ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property edit_panel_mc not found on flash.display.Stage and there is no default value. The mc's are on the stage... i have a single .as classfile. Why cant I reference them? or how should i do it/ what should i do to change it from beeing .fla script to class script.
I see a lot of tutorials about coding actionscript 3 when they use all the code in a Class.I keep thinking every time why they use it in a class, instead of using actionscript on the stage.why it is more functional to code a class instead of putting code in the stage actionscript?
I'm kinda noobish when it comes to getting information from XML information sent to my flash file from the socket server. OK so for example the server sends me this:
[Code]...
I want to get the name of the user and the X and Y position! Is there a way I can get this information without a load of fuss from functions and other junk remember im kinda noobish.
I want to build a program built around my pc specs. Is there a way to access such information as how much ram I have or how much cpu usage is being consumed, etc.?
Say you were importing flash.events.KeyboardEvent and you wanted it to extend the MovieClip class, is this possible? Where you dont have access to the class to just type "extends XXX"
I am doing an Actionscript 3.0 project which involves introspection. I am wondering if there is a way to get all the classes within a given package structure.
PHP Code: function getInfo (){ cardDetails= new Array('v','a','r','i','o','u','s'); var parent_mc:CatProcess = CatProcess(this.parent); parent_mc.addForm(parent_mc.finalCardScreen,cardDetails); parent_mc.removeChild(this); }
this accesses a function of the parent movie clip - addForm which is:
[Code]...
This then adds an instance of the class finalCardScreen before removing itself. I want to be able to pass cardDetails array through to the new screen. I don't know what to put in my addForm object to do this though because I don't want to do anything with it just now, just pass it through to the class that is being attached.
I have seen this code in ultitouch gesture samples. But I don't kno how can I pass a bitmap parameter to the statement [Embed(source="imagenes/prueba.jpg")], how can I use this code with other bitmaps using parameters in this class?
I want to declare a webservice in .mxml and pass it to a function in a separate class. The problem: callresponder's lastresult never gets updated when the call is succesfully made.[code]...
