Are there any way that Flash Media Server isn't able to pass metadata of F4V file into the stream (RTMP) if F4V file was encrypted with Flash Access?

View 3 Repliesi'm trying to build some kind of online radio. Therefore i'll be streaming audio (mp3) in real time. i have a play-list on my server and the idea is for this play-list to play all day long, but on the client side the user can only do play and stop the music.
The problem is when one music stops and the next one starts i need the server to send not only the new audio but also all the info about this file: duration, author and music name, this way my player can show a play /stop and all the info about the current music playing.Until now i've only come across with video live streaming, but very little information on how to do a live transmission of audio.
ps: the only info on streaming audio that i've found so far is about audio on demand, but the way i want things to happen the client can't chose the music.
i re-stream one rtmp from server1 to 5 or more FMS servers, and make sure they are always connected if they lose connection for some reason it should keep trying to connect back.Please note i'm not a coder. I need simple example of how i can do this without hiring someone to do so.
View 3 RepliesI'm streaming live video through FMS 3 and passing the streams to another FMS application to be recorded. While recording, I inject some custom metadata into the stream. Once recording is finished, I move the flv to another location and update my database with the metadata contained in the stream for later reference. All this succeeds without a problem.
However, only sometimes, the default 'duration' metadata (note - I never mess with the duration metadata, merely insert my own fields that are required for other reasons) is COMPLETELY wrong
Can I stream/publish all methods at the same time?I really want most users to play my live streams via RTMP, however, fail over to HLS for Apple iOS.
View 6 RepliesMy question is regarding the use of RTMP files (delivered via a Flash Media Server) and Papervision; specifically using an RTMP stream as a texture on a Papervision object. I've already developed a number of successful methods for applying progressive flv/f4v files to Papervision objects. The RTMP streams, however, have presented a number of obstacles.
I will bypass the myriad of research I've done looking into this issue and say that others have inquired about this as well - but from what I can tell, no solid answer or solution has been found - especially under Flash Player 10. So, here's what we have so far:

When you append a recording from a stream does the metadata get updated correctly after the append? I've worked with metadata before and from my recolection anytime a .flv was changed I had to manually update the metadata.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make a software which sends video and audio data to a flash media server by using RTMP protocol. Currently, my program can communicate with a flash media server correctly. RTMP specifications does not describe about the raw data in video/audio messages, so I muxed raw H.264 and AAC data into video/audio messages and sent to the server. The server seems to accept them, but a video player cannot playback the stream sending from the server. The player just says "Loading..." For a test purpose, I sniffed the network packets between Wirecast and the flash media server and ripped off only video and audio data. Then, I muxed those data into video/audio message and sent to the flash media server. In this case, the video player connected to the server can playback the stream correctly.
I checked the stream sent from Wirecast, the stream seems not to be H.264 raw data because those data are not started from 0x17 instead of H.264 start code. With those situation, I am wondering what kind of container format I should use for H.264/AAC data to the flash media server.
I'm running Flash Media Streaming Server and have only been serving VOD up until now. I had my network administrator open up port 1935 to the outside world during the setup process and now I can't remember if that was actually required for streaming VOD to clients. Most documentation I've read says that this port should be open, but I seem to recall reading something at one point that suggested it wasn't necessary.
I've just started messing around with publishing live streams using Flash Media Live Encoder to the Flash Media Streaming Server. I have that working without issue but was surprised to find that no authentication is required before a client running the live encoder can publish a stream to the Flash Media Streaming Server. An authentication module is available however it only works with Flash Media Interactive Server and Flash Media Development Server.
If I leave port 1935 open to the outside world, there would be nothing to stop anybody anywhere from streaming video via my server. Anyone else running a default install of Flash Media Streaming Server and with port 1935 open to the outside should see that this is true of their setup as well. I'm wondering if I can safely close port 1935 without limiting the functionality of the server or if there's some way I can require authentication prior to publishing a live stream even though I'm not on the four-and-a-half-times-more-expensive edition of the product.

View 4 RepliesI am trying to create a flash player to stream an on online Internet radio station using FMS. I chose FMS after being told that I need RTMP server to extract the metadata. Our radio audio is being encoded using a DJ interface called SAM Broadcaster. But for some reason, it does not have an option to send over the stream directly to a Flash Media Server. Only options are either IceCAST or ShoutCAST. How should i setup the stream? Should it be Stream encoder>> IceCAST/SHOUTCast Server>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client. Or should I setup Stream Encoder>>Flash Media Server>>Flash Player Client? Shouldn't Flash Media Server be an alternative to IceCast or Shoutcast? If that is the case, how do I send over the stream from SAM Broadcaster directly to Flash Media Server without restreaming through another streaming server?

(the default path on FMS2) Now we upgrade to FMS4 and we would like to keep these paths the same because we have many HTMLs that reference these videos. However, the default path on FMS4 is rtmp://ServerName/vod/... Is there a way to change "vod" to "sites"?
I tried to change VOD_COMMON_DIR in fms.ini from /install_dir/webroot/vod to /install_dir/webroot/sites, and also changed the document root in httpd.conf, but rtmp://ServerName/sites/ is still not working.

I recently installed FMS 3.5.1 and then upgraded it to 3.5.3 on a Windows 2003 server. In both versions, I can not stream .f4v or .mp3 from a subfolder. The .flv file plays fine. I used the default configuration settings, sample .f4v and .flv files provided by the installer. I used the sample player in C:Program FilesAdobeFlash Media Server 3.5samplesvideoPlayer as the client.

To complete the process of streaming video, it appears that I need to obtain a "flash media server URL address" which is called "RTMP" on the encoder page. Where can I find this? Is this something that can be downloaded, or do I have to purchase this from a partner like Level 3 communications, AT&T, etc.?

Currently we have a swf file application that runs in a browser and takes the live video stream from the camera on the computer and streams a live sorenson spark stream to the fms 3.5 server.
Question is: How to live stream vp6 from the browser/swf file on the camera computer, instead of the sorenson spark. (We seem to be stuck only on sorenson spark).

In Video 1, she shows how to stream a single file. I've done everything to the letter on this video, however, when she uses the videoplayer to reference the livestream.f4m file, there is none. I've actually checked the folder location(apploications/livepkgr/streams/_definst_/livestream and there are files in there (.f4f and .f4x), but no .f4m which is the file she references in the video player.
In Video 2, she shows how to create a multi-bitrate video stream. Using the manifest packager and creating a .f4m and .m3u8 package and placing it in the webroot folder. Here is the contents of my liveevent.f4m file:

I have read some forums posted in here and also searched the web extensively but cannot find a clear answer or get HTTP tunneling to work with Flash Media Server 3.
Q1: Can Flash Media Server 3 be configured for RTMP and HTTP tunneling to work? The reason I need to know if this will work is due to more and more clients are reporting that videos are not playing for them and I have determined that these clients are sitting behind a firewall that has port 1935 blocked. So I would like to configure the FLV playback control to try to stream the file over RTMP and if that does not work, use HTTP.
Here is my asctionscript that I have tried to get this to work, but it does not. Some other notes are, the .FLV files live in this folder: D:AdobeFlash Media Server applicationsvodmedia The videos are recorded and then converted into .FLV files and loaded into this folder. The ultimate solution is I use a FLVPlayback control and pass the location and .FLV file name on the query string "Details.aspx?VIDEO=rtmp://216.203.12.15/vod/flv".
