I have instantiated an instance of a class that performs a URLload action. When that is complete I want to pass the loaded value to a textfield within the parent object. How do I pass the value out of the instantiated object to the parent object's textfield ?

After everything is done, I can add code to the document class to create a text field on the stage of the main swf and format it successfully with the TextFormat object, but when I try to do the same thing inside the loaded content module swf, the text doesn't show up there at all.

I have a swf that should be able to load another swf in runtime. Then I would like the loaded swf to call a method of the parent, loader swf, like this:

But when I compile it, it throws this error:
1119: Access of possibly undefined property closeForm through a reference with static type flash.displayisplayObjectContainer.
I've tried:

I'm having to pass data (originally read via an XML file loaded by the parent class) to a child class upon instantiation, and I can't decide which is the better method.I could parse the XML in the parent and throw the data into an Object and pass that object to the child class....or just pass the part it needs as an XMLList and let the child class do the parsing.Seems like a trivial decision, yes, but I'm not sure of longer-term implications.

I have made a piece of flash that runs on an xml document and now I need to pass a flash variable (via the html swfobject) to the flash to dictate this xml location. The variable is successfully passed if I embed the main swf straight into the swfobject.The problem is I am using a preloader swf to load the main swf onto the page and I can't seem to work out how to pass the variable (from swfobject) from the preloader to the main swf.

I can use the variable passed in the parent, but I just can't understand how to attain that value in the child swf.

So that the subclass will trace 'Event from document class received' when the 'customEvent' event from the document class is listened by the eventlistener. However, the output is only 'customEvent dispatched', meaning it wasn't heard in the subclass.

I must be missing something obvious. I'm trying to pass a parameter from a URL into a text field in flash, but it doesn't seem to work. I've got a dynamic text field (display as html is checked), with an instance name txt_txt. Here's the only line of code in the file:
txt_txt.htmlText="test "+this.loaderInfo.parameters.nameVar;
And, when I upload it and use the following, I get "test undefined" as my return!? [URL]
I have three objects on the stage, each of them holds different value. Then there is a text field. If, lets say one object is clicked textfield displays value of the object, if more objects are clicked on textfield displays the values of all objects counted together (I think you kind of know where I am coming from..
Now, after I have clicked on the objects I wanted, I would like the value of textfield to be passed to..possibly html form..Im not sure whether this can be done from the swf file, so was thinking that probably you can create a button that send the value somewhere, only dont know where and how..

I want to set the text field on the fly for txtName, so I add a little ActionScript (3!) that does it nice and easily: txtName.text = "Foo";reat. Now why isn't it working when I try the same thing from a parent MovieClip which contains the MovieClip that has the dynamic text? Example:Child MovieClip with TextField ActionScript 3 in Frame #1:

I'm just trying to make a sprite follow the last letter of a TextField with the getCharBoundaries() function. It works fine when the DisplayObject that contains the TextField has no 3d transformations on it. But when I rotate it in 3D, returned values are wrong and it doesn't work anymore.I don't know anything about the matrix objects and all those transformation functions but I guess there is a way to get the correct value by using one of those matrices.I tried to use some matrices and played with some of their values but didn't get any luck.
