ActionScript 3.0 :: Position Graphics In A Circular Pattern ?

how to position graphics in a circular pattern and they space out evenly depending on how many graphics are in a given array.So now, I want to be able to rotate the graphics in a clockwise or counter-clockwise pattern (not a sprite container that holds all of the graphics, but the graphics themselves.)

So this gets each graphic to the next location just fine. Now notice what I have in red... I want the graphics to animate along the parameter of the circle. All I need to do that is to identify the x,y coordinates between the two graphics. I can just subtract the y of one graphic from another... the x is something I have no idea how to do...

Inside one of the mcs I have included a piece of code with the of this forum that allows the user to both click on and drag the mc about the stage. However when the user clicks on the mc I want two things to happen, firstly I want it to position itself in the centre of the stage, already accomplished (with the of the forum - same thread), and I want a number of the other mcs to be positioned around it in a circular pattern. Now I have two main problems with this.. first of all I am using all of the above code inside of a single mc and I am confused as to how I can actually take the other mcs and place them around it, calling it from inside the mc that is, another problem is that I am using an xml file to load data dynamically into the mcs, I am doing this from the main timeline and then as I said before using iterative processes to fill each mc with their relevant data. Inside of this xml file I have a number of items, each having a tag called owner, what I want to happen is for the user to click on the mc in question and then for each mc that is "owned" by the mc in question to then be positioned in a circular pattern around it

can someone explain the logic of circular motion (them radians and degrees). I've found the code for it and modified it a bit to make it do what I want. But I haven't a clue as to how it works.. This is a slightly modified code taken from the Kirupa Tutorial.

I trained on flashMX back in the day and haven't done anything since so now I've got CS5 it's a bit like being at school again! I have a circular dial sat in the middle of the screen with an arrow placed on it's edge. How do I get the dial to rotate so it always faces the mouse pointer?

I have a full size page and want a graphic to stay locked to the right so when resizeing the broswer window the right side of the graphic stays on the right and the left side disapears into the left or shows more if the page is resized more, without scaleing the page size. I know how to do this in CSS but not actionscript yet?

i'm trying to search a string for a particular pattern, and replace it with elements from within the pattern... for example..here's the given string...if you want to learn how to use regexp, {url===http://somesite.com, text===click here}.

and the intended result...

Is it possible to draw a Bitmap to a Graphics-Object like
this.graphics.beginBitmapFill(bitmapData, matrix, false);
this.graphics.drawRect(0, 0, w, h);
this.graphics.endFill();
with an offset?
A simple moveTo(x, y) call before beginBitmapFill does not work :/ Neither does changing the x and y value of drawRect... (That just seems to have the same effect as an translation with the matrix...) Additionally I don't want do draw that thing in a separate Graphics-Object and add that one into the other...

I was wondering about MC and hey can help to lag a game out. I set up an advanced class system so i don't have to use MC to simulate walls, all i use isthe x,y,width and height. Well anyway since i don't need MC anymore I was wondering if there is a way to attach Graphics instead of MC cause a Graphics file size is relatively small than that of a graphic, I think. If anyone could tell me thats true and show me a way to attach graphics that would be nice. I haven't tried it yet but maybe if I exported the graphic from the library imihgt be able to call its name, but it doesn't have an instance name so im stuck.

I have a large vector drawing (imagine 5000x5000) that i want to break up into separate pieces. I know that I can convert this vector drawing into a bitmap and then use the copyPixels method to create many separate bitmaps of the different regions of the original vector drawing, but is there any way to subdivide it into movieclips that just contain vector graphics instead of a bitmap?The reason im dividing a big chunk of vector graphics into smaller pieces is for performance reasons, so flash would only render a small part of this big chunk at a time (only certain regions/voxels/subdivisions are rendered at a time). But bitmaps apparently take up a lot of memory and the system im using would take much less memory if these subdivisions could be preserved in their original vector graphics form.
I imagine I could use masks somehow to achieve this effect (for each subdivision, duplicate the huge image and mask only the region that the subdivision represents), but I dont know the performance costs of masking or if this will create other problems.So is there anyway to split up a movieclip of vector graphics into smaller movieclips of vector graphics the same way copyPixels can with bitmaps?

I am a beginner in Flex. For my appln, I wanted to have the progress bar, but not the default that Flex Framework provides.
I wanted to have a circular loading "progressbar" that would move in circular fashion before completing one complete revolution to 100%.
Can I do that in Flex 3 ? If yes, how ?

I am currently trying to figure out a circular alignment problem. so if you look at the following code, it works perfect without the positioning section. All the data is being loaded from a database and when the user clicks on the mc which houses this code in its second frame, it accesses the database and if there are more rows in the database whose owner column matches the name of the clip it will add more circles to the stage and then use other data received from the database to edit it such as its colour. But what I am also trying to do is align the newly added circles in a circular pattern around the mc (when clicked the mc will be centred on the stage.

What I want to do: I have an object on the stage that moves in a circular manner. I want it to move in a less predictable way by assigning some randomness to its movement.
What I can't do: Imagine a clock. Its hand moves at a constant pace. When the hand's initial position is 12 o'clock I would like it to move as long as its hand meets the hour 12 again and communicate it. The full cycle. Then, I want to change the object's x,y and make it keep moving. And so on. How do I tell Flash that my objects has made a full cycle?
