Sep 5, 2006We have implemented a Flash photo slideshow on our site and it works just fine for most of our users. Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.

Jan 27, 2011Did not know what forum to post this in as it covers different platforms and I am not requesting with specific code, but I have lost my way with a project and cannot get back on track. I am building a booking system (ar'nt we all) and it's turned into a puzzle that I can't piece together.
I have a MySQL DB with some php pages ( sql queries contained in the php to get the data) and I have some AS3 code that draws a illustration to the screen of the booking data. At the moment the illustration is drawn from data that I have put into an array. The bit I cant figure out is how do I get the data from my php sql query into the array in AS3?

May 30, 2007I need to run a query and convert the results to an XML string. I *think* I need to do all of this in PHP but I wanted to get some guidance as sometimes I make things more difficult than necessary.
Do I have 2 scripts... one to query and one to process the results to XML? Or can I put them both in the same script. To do the latter is not proper OOP practice, correct?
Once that is done, I can get the data into Flash. I need it to be XML though because the same data is being used elsewhere outside of Flash.
Is this the proper, most efficient way of handling this task?

Jul 22, 2010I am building an application in Flex Builder 3. Yes, I know that it has an auto-magic feature to build datasheet, but that will not work. I see many Flex controls, such as combo box, can take an array as a data source.
My question, therefore, is (1) How do I send the request from my action script to my PHP form to request a record set. (2) Presuming that my dataset is in a PHP assoc array, how do I format it to send it back to Action Script. (3) How do I take the data received from the recordset, and put it inot an actionscript array, suitable for use as a data source.
I can connect to my database in PHP, and query it just fine, so I don't need help with that. For consistency, and humor, lets presume that I have the following data in an assoc array that I pulled from a database.

Aug 11, 2010I'm working on a movie that needs to get the query string data, but I can't just pass it in, as I don't have access to the embedding page, and can't get the author to edit the embedding options. I need to do it all within the movie.
I've seen examples of as 2 using ExternalInterface.call("window.location.href.toStr ing"); but I can't get it to work. Is there another way in as3?

or do I have no choice but to make the full names a part of the JSON like...

Database :: Displaying Query Data In A TextInput Field In Flex?
Feb 12, 2010I'm trying to display query data into multiple TextInput Fields in Flex.
<mx:TextInput id="stagInput" text="{acContacts}" width="170" x="120" y="74"/>
This is what I'm trying but all that displays is [object Object]
I think I need to define the database field I'm wanting to display, but I'm unsure how to do this as TextInput fields don't support dataField or labelField properties. Is there another property I don't know about? How do i go about fixing this?
Flex - Facebook IFrame Application - Pass Data From URL Query String?

I also have an actionscript, in which I have ingArr:Array of ingredient strings.Now, I would like to realize the following queries here:
1) Select (all fields) one recipe which has the most of ingredients from the array. If more than one record have the same amount of matches, then divide the number of matches by total number of ingredients in recipe and return the one with the highest ratio. If there are no matches return nothing.
2) As above, but return 10 recipes with the most matches and do not perform check for equal number of matches. Sort the results by the number of matches.

I used "1" for the value, and "1" was what is in the page source, so I know it's at least getting that far. As for what is in the ActionScript, here it is:

It is supposed to load XML from an ASPX page that builds the XML from a database depending on the project ID (ProjID). If I hardcode the variable to "1" (or whatever other ProjID), it works and the correct images are shown for the respective ID. However, I can not get it to pass the ID from the URL to the Flash file. I've even tried "_root.ProjID", and a QueryString class I found through Google, as well as passing the ProjID through Param tags as FlashVars with no luck.

EXAMPLE:
Form uses 3 radio button submissions.
Upon SUBMIT it sends data to results page creating a string seen below

Results page houses SWF
SWF uses the string to control the action of the Flash.

I have the movie on every page as it is my navigational bar however I dont want it to play except when somebody loads the homepage, and I dont want to create a static version because then my site will have to load 2 versions.Is there some query code in actionscript to query the current URL of the loaded page? Oct 20, 2009[URL]I have a checkbox renderer i am placing into my Datagrid. The checkbox needs to do a sql query on the sqllite database and see if the show is marked as watched, if it is then make the checkbox as checked and if not mark the checkbox and not checked.
What i would like to do further to this is add the watched items to one XMLList and add the not watched episodes to a different XMLList and have the checkbox on click= move from one to the other list as per watched or not.
