I want effect like that numbers have scrolling effect. that means lets have two number 55623 and second is 78945. now first the first one will display and now scrolling will happen and the second number will come, like in game come and i also want to use that in my html form, so how can i use that value in my html form?

In Javascript I'd simply create two divs, one positioned absolutely in the other, and have the surrounding one have the style 'overflow: none'. Now I want to achieve the same in ActionScript, as shown in the following picture:
When I try to set the size of the surrounding MovieClip the contents just get 'squashed'. I want it to stay the same and the parts outside of the 'rectangle to be hidden outside of the MovieClip.

I tried to modify this so it would work to my standards, but it doesn't... I don't even get any errors.
when I started my movieclip was simple...its an info popup that comes up when someone clicks another movieclip on the stage...anyhow, when it comes up it looks like a projector screen that is being pulled down...there is also a number in the top right that is supposed to be scrolling...there are two problems with my popup...
1) the scrolling number does not show up...
2) the content in the info popup refuses to stay invisible until the "screen" is pulled all they way down...
the first link shows what the scrolling number is supposed to look like...I did not change anything regarding the scrolling number when I altered the content to fit and look decent in the info popup..

View 1 RepliesI want to create a parallax scrolling effect using 3 PNG images that are 950px x 335px. One image is the foreground, another is the background and the third is the "middle" image. What I want to do is automatically scroll each image horizontally at different speeds, but I can't figure out how to do that using AS3. All the parallax examples I've seen so far requires the user to scroll the background using their mouse or keyboard, and that's not what I want to do. I want it to automatically start scrolling when the user loads the page.Can this be done with AS3? If so, can someone give me a script or tell me where to find one?
View 8 RepliesI'm trying to do something that makes sense in my head, but can only translate to code with mixed success.On the screen is 6x4 grid of boxes, 24 in total. These boxes represent a number of entries in a big visual timeline, the total of which can be anywhere from 1 to many thousand. Of course, only a fixed number of 24 can be seen at any one time.The grid scrolls left/right to show previous/future timeline entries in their box form.
The grid normally starts at the very first entry, but there is an offset built-in to it so that you can, for instance, start the display of these entries at a certain point. For instance, if you have 26 entries with an offset of 1, that means there will be 1 entry not seen to the left (before), 24 on the screen seen, and 1 entry not seen to the right (future). Or if you have an offset of 10, there would be 10 to the left (not seen) and 16 filling the space on screen, etc.The scrolling basically slides the entries left or right by a factor of 4 (since the columns consist of 4 boxes), but must be clamped to not scroll beyond the total number.
Is there some simple math anyone can think of to track the state of these boxes? I ask because I will have Flash create *only* the 24 max that can be seen at any one time. Any time you scroll to the right or left, Flash will create up to 4 new boxes to fit that next column, and then animated all 28 boxes (24 existing + 4 new) to move the new ones on (and the old ones off), and then delete the old ones. This is to keep things optimized since creating many thousands of boxes that each load external content is not very feasible.

This is a repost, but I've still not figured out a solution. I have a Flash movie that appears on a webpage. The Flash contains scrolling content ( scrollpane, text field, whatever).
The containing webpage is tall, and therefore also has scrollbars. My Problem: When users try to use the MouseWheel to scroll through my Flash scrolling data, the browser page scrolls as well. It's very annoying.
I would like to be able to have the MouseWheel scroll my Flash scrolling content when it's over the flash, but scroll the webpage when it's not over the Flash.
Does anybody know a way to supress wheel-based browser page-scrolling while my mouse is over a Flash movie??? Is there a way to eat/stop propagation, whatever, of the wheel event in the brwoser, either from Flash or from Javascript?
I have been working on a site that will display a portfolio for a friend of mine who is a photographer. I want to have thumbnails that can be scrolled on the bottom of the page, and an area where the thumbnail is presented when selected. I have the thumbnails appearing.
