ActionScript 3.0 :: Set Up A .as Package To Handle All My Rollover Functions For My _mc's?
May 23, 2009
I am trying to set up a .as package to handle all my rollover functions for my _mc's that are acting as buttons in my fla file.
Here is the code I have .
I just started using AS3 and I am not all that familiar with the new updates to the code.I keep getting this error message.1119: Access of possibly undefined property onEnterFrame through a reference with static type btnEffect.
I have a web service written in ColdFusion. In this web service, there are two functions; one is to return all the questions in a quiz and the other one is to return all the answer selections to the questions in a quiz.
[Bindable] private var questionArray:ArrayCollection; private var cfquiz:RemoteObject;
[code]....
I have the codes above. loadQuestions is called at creationComplete to retrieve the questions. Things are working fine. What I want to do is to call another function within the same web service, returnAnswers, to return the answer options for a question. Since I have cfquiz associated to the web service already, I was using cfquiz to call returnAnswers. However, there is an event listener associated to cfquiz already, resultHandler is being called when returnAnswers comes back with the results.is it possible to check which function returns the results within resultHandler? If so, how? And second, what is the best way to handle calls to multiple functions within the same web service?
I've got a movie clip which i "exported for actionscript" inside of the properties dialog.this is the code inside of the package that was created to go along with it (MovieClipName.as)[code]...
I've started using ASDoc to document my latest project. But for some reason, it will only document one package function per package. This means that it documents one function in my utils package and then skips all the others.
Has anybody here successfully documented a utils-like package, with a ton of package functions?
When I create anything in a library, it's basically a class right? Meaning I can do essentially the same thing with use of a package in an AS file? In AS 2.0 this would probably mean I can add specific functions on this class as I can do when I use flash's object interface and add script to the specific class object itself. However, in AS 3.0 you cannot attribute code directly to an object right?
This leads me to my second question. I basically want to create a flash mp3 player (I've coded this already), but make it so that it is an entire package of contents, so I can add it to my website when a mouse event is detected and then take it off the website once it's no longer needed (to conserve memory and assure an overall nice experience). The problem is that I have many objects and subsequent functions (play button, pause button, etc), and want all of this to be contained in one file. Is this even possible?
I have a movieclip that has a stop function on the first and last frame. I want the user to rollover a button on the stage, and have the movieclip go to frame 3 and stop. When they rollout, I want the movie clip to go back to frame 1 and stop. There is a stop code on both the first and last frames so the mc won't play through. I had it coded in as 2 and it worked fine, but I am using Flash cs4 now and I changed the publish settings to as3. It seems extremely complicated to get this to work in as3
I'm trying to get a button to generate 2 functions at the same time. Function 1. to fade in and out of the background on rollover of buttons Function 2. to generate displayed text on rollover of same buttons
Here is my code: stop(); import mx.transitions.Tween; import mx.transitions.easing.*; // - FUNCTIONS - // MC_BACKGROUND Fade In Fade Out Function function turnOff() { [Code] .....
When trying to call this function whilst at the same time generating the fade in fade out sequence of the background nothing happens.
I've got dynamic buttons, but obviously the rollover and rollout will be the same, but when I have a stab at enabling rollover functions, the buttonactions die
Code:
for (i=0; i<5; i++) { b = _root.attachMovie("stagebut", "button"+i, _root.getNextHighestDepth()); b._x = 50*i+465;
I have an mc with a button nested inside and on this button I have AS for the rollOver and rollOut to play certain frames of the mc. The problem is when I use this mc (called 'mybutton_mc') in a menu system and I want to add AS to it to navigate to different areas, ie adding onPress to this mc, it kill's the AS on the rollOver and rollOut functions of the button within.
below is some code i am using to rewind / play an animaion depending on the rollover state. only ting is i would like to have it so that i could do something like:
playFrames(homeBtn)...
this way i can use the same function over and over but i am not sure how to write this. i think its someting like function playFrames(obj); and then you do something with this...
I'm creating a scrollbar gallery from a tutorial on this site. Though I've completed the tutorial, and customised the gallery to my own needs, however I'm trying to make a very small change to it - and no matter what I do, keep running into problems. I'm trying to replace the rectangular handle with my own customised handle - a (20 x 20) 'circular' png image that I've imported into Flash, made a graphic and stored in the library (though I understand it can be imported using actionscript, like the other images in the gallery).
I am having troubles passing an x and y argument into a package function that creates a projectile on stage at the tank.gun's x and y.I have attached a zip of the code I am working on.[code]
I'm running into this weird thing with ASDoc. It will only document one package function per package. For example.I have these two functions:
gs.util.printf gs.util.ftrace
In these files:
gs/util/printf.as gs/util/ftrace.as
The only function that get's documented in ASDocs is "printf". But I know it can do more than one. As an example, in the livedocs [URL] There are more than one functions documented.
C:demoABC.as: Error: A file found in a source-path must have the same package structure '', as the definition's package, 'demo'.Where is wrong above command?
This is with Flexbuilder 3.2, Eclipse 3.3.2.I am moving my development environment to a new machine. Actionscript classes that compiled in the old environment now get a compile error:
A file found in a source-path must have an externally visible definition. If a definition in the file is meant to be externally visible, please put the definition in a package.I do declare the package in these classes - I think failure to declare the package is the usual reason for this error. To add to the mystery, many classes in this project compile without errors.
I have classes witch resides in this package :com.network.interface_as. When I try to load one class from that package in another class in the same package like this:
The script for my timer worked for one button but as soon as I set up the other 2 buttons to do the same, I started having a problem where the rollover action would go after the set amount of time was up but then would repeat itself once after the set amount of time was up again. just to clarify, if it needs it, the reason I don't have a rollout attached to these buttons is because I want the menu to stay out until you leave the menu area
so I have an invisible button called menuin_btn which sits to the right of the menu and covers the rest of the stage where the content will be, so you have to rollover that area for the menu to roll back in. The "rollin" in my code brings the movie clip to frame 16 (the end) where I have a gotoAndStop(1); command to get it back to frame 1 so the rollover can be used again. I've attached a zip with my current flash file and swf and here is what my current script looks like on the main scene:
I am making a ball move from left to right and back. but when I rollover twice quickly, it also accepts the second rollover command. I would like it to accept that second rollover only when the first one is finished. I mean, I want the first to be finished before it accepts another rollover.I know it is simple to solve this with a tween using frames instead of as, but I was wondering if someone knows how to adapt the script.
I'm using actionscript 1.0 and 2.0 on flash Pro 8 and keep getting an error when I test the movie. Here is the error:
[Code]...
I've tried to create this rollover navigation...starting over 6 times already. Is there different language / coding for 1.0 and 2.0? I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.
I'm trying to create a rollover for a movie clip. On rollover, a line underlines the text, and when it rolls out, the underline reverses. This works fine the first time. The next time you rollover, the animation doesn't work. Then when you move the mouse off the button, a line appears under the text and doesn't go away. Here's my code on the invisible button.
The animation/rollover works well but it still abruptly stops when I rollover another button. The link below is an example on what I want to accomplish.
I have a series of calculations i'm doing over a bunch of objects stored in a array. Each function is pretty CPU demanding but if you only run one function, it just works fine.
I've got a project thats getting a bit big, so Im taking the actionscript out into separate as files. I want all the basic functions to be in BasicFunctions.as and the make a library for more specific functions. I find that a lot of people use the import statement but I cant get that to work with a simple Hello World trace, yet the include statement works fine (see attached). I understand that import/include work differently, but which is the better method? If import, then is that heavier to work with. Any rate, what's the best way to organise code when it gets to the 1000+ lines?
I'm trying to find a way to have global functions in my as project, similar to how flash does with stuff like the util functions (describeType()...), where you can just call the function wherever you need it. For example:
[Code]...
So when I call Test(), it prints out "hello world" fine. My problem comes in that I can't change the name of the Test function, and I can't add any other functions without compiler errors. Is it possible to have a load of global functions in one file, or do I have to split them up into separate files like in the example? Also, I know that I can make a Global class and call static functions like Code: Global.doSomething() but I'd like to know if there's a way to do it as flash does it (describeType(), getDefinitionByName(), etc), or rather, how does flash do it?
I have one function that puts text in a text field and makes a button goto a url onRelease. The code is like this:
Code: item.onRelease = function() { myButton.onRelease = function() { getURL("http://google.com", "_blank"); } talk = this.txt; } the only problem is that the button doesn't work onRelease. i think that it is because there are too many functions there, but at the same time,
I have a button set up, that when you rollover the button, it changes into another picture and stops, and also when it's rolled over, a large picture appears under the rollover. But when I first rollover the button, it acts like it's told to go to the out state. When I rollover it again it works fine.URl...there is my code to go into the movieclip and play the button
