ActionScript 1/2 :: Functions - Rewind / Play An Animation Depending On The Rollover State
Jan 16, 2011
below is some code i am using to rewind / play an animaion depending on the rollover state. only ting is i would like to have it so that i could do something like:
playFrames(homeBtn)...
this way i can use the same function over and over but i am not sure how to write this. i think its someting like function playFrames(obj); and then you do something with this...
I have been asked to use a lady who stays still but then when you rollover a button her arms moves to that button, I have looked everywhere for some answers but just can't find a single example of one.
Sounds so simple, but I have been trying to sort this for ages and just can't make it work properly
i have some script that i am using to play an mc timeline on rollover and rewind the mc on rollout, but my problem is that i want to add an onRelease action that takes the mc to an specific frame within the mc. thing is that the onRollout action cancels out the onRelease action and rewinds the mc regardless. this is the script that i have on the first frame of the mc
i have a problem with a rollover animation stopping at it's 'on' state on release. i have a movie clip that fades text up from 0% at keyframe 1 to 100% at keyframe 10 and back down to 0% at keyframe 19. i have an invisible button above this with the following:
[Code]...
the visible bit is to turn off the invisible button on release. the problem is that with the following code, all that happens is the movie plays out from 11 on release. i want it to stop at keyframe 10 (where it is).
I was looking for a way to create play, stop, rewind and fast forward buttons for an animation I created in Flash. I found a nice description at republicofcode.com/tutorials/flash/controller_bc/, but after trying the code for stop and play I get the error: Access of possibly undefined property onRelease through a reference with static fl.controls:button.
I was wondering if nayone knows how to have an animation play depending on the day of the month it is. I am working on an advent calander for a client and it would be nice if an animation would play depending on the day of the month.
I've got a white outline around a button that fades up on mouse over and fade out on mouse down. I've done it by creating alpha tween of the outline in 2 separate movie clips and dropping each clip onto the correct frame of the button symbol.
Question is - how do i get the down state movie to play to the end? If i click and hold the fade-out anim plays ok, but if i click quickly (as everybody does) it'll only play like 1 or 2 frames of the fade out.

I need to add a rollover effect to the disabled state of a Spark button. This way, users can rollover the button and know why the button is disabled.I think I would have to override ButtonBase's getCurrentSkinState. Is there anyway to test if a mouse cursor is over a disabled button?
rollover play anim issue I am having? this is what I am trying to do:
1. a button that when rolled over animates(working)
2. the button when clicked should play another 'animation' that is placed on the scene(can't get to work)
3.Inside the 'animation' the button plays, there is a 'close' button that should playout the 'anmation' timeline.(not working)not sure what script to attached to the 'close' button .
Okay, now things are getting a little complicated. I need to build a Flash object that can sit over the corner of an image to serve extra content. It's way beyond my Flash skill level, my work is usually limited to print work in Photoshop and Illustrator so please excuse me if any of the following isn't clear. I am trying to learn though, So this is how it's all supposed to work, along with my issues; When the image & Flash item load a small looping animation will play to draw the eye/show the item as interactive.
When the user rolls over this the corner will peelback. I have a working peelback animation for the rollover, that reacts to mouse over/mouse off, and a looping animation for the initial, but I cannot work out how to make the initial loop until mouseover, then play the peelback when the mouse is over. And go back to the initial animation loop if the user rolls off. (Each of these animations is stored as a movie clip in the Library) Then it gets more complicated... if the user stays on the corner until it is fully peeled back I need to make a small countdown (sort of a 3, 2, 1 situation) show, before launching a lightbox (would this have to be jQuery, or could it be done in Flash?) in the browser to serve the content.
I'm trying to get the animation of this actionscript to pause on RollOver and then play again on rollOut, but no luck so far. Sample file is attached (FLASH 8).
I'm trying to create flash rollovers for buttons that play the full rollover animation even if you roll of it, and if you stay on it if will play once and not keep repeating. The rollover animation is only short, about 2 seconds, but which ever way I try it I can't get it to play the full clip if you roll off, either that or it will play the full clip but keep repeating if you keep the mouse on it.
At the moment it is just a movieclip in a rollover keyframe of a button. This has stumped me for years. Other sites seem to do it fine (off the top of my head the 4 menu rollovers at the bottom of http:[url].... do it - if you rollover each one left to right in one go they do a kind of Mexican wave) but I just can't see a way of doing it.
heres my code basically i want it so if i stay rolloed over it keeps reversing, in stead of having to roll off and on, obviously only does one frame at a time.
I have a viewstack with childrens which I want to show/hide depending on the state the application is
[Code]...
AS you can see I inlude the retail customer view in the retail state and the wholesale customer view in the wholesale state. The problem is that when I run my app they don't appear on neither state.
Im having some trouble with this code. I have a button that will pop in and out depending on the rollover and rollout. but then i want it to get and external swf when released. this is all done with smartclips if that matters.
I have a very simple animation in a movieclip (witch is placed on the stage) has about 300 frames.i also have for and back buttons on the stage. now i need to setup functions for the back button. to play my mc backwards and if its on the first frame it should got to .totalFrames and play backwards. i think i can use .play() for the for button.
The animation/rollover works well but it still abruptly stops when I rollover another button. The link below is an example on what I want to accomplish.
I want to rollover a button and have it trigger the rollover state of another button. The buttons overlap. The one on top is transparent and smaller than the bottom button. So far I think I have the AS3 to handle the rollover of the top button, but I don't know how to trigger the other button's rollover state.
i want to make a movieclip play when i move the mouse up and rewind when i move to the down, and when i don't move to continue playing or rewinding. I have a code but it works only when i move the mouse up after half of the scene.
I want to follow somehow the mouse, when i move mouse up even a bit to change direction, now it changes direction only when i go after the half of scene, as in here [URL]
My buttons are not working and I dont get it why. They should control an actionscript contolled FLV. There is an invisible button, which controls the pop up flv contorler bar. This bar mc contains the FLV video player controller buttons (play, rewind). Somehow this buttons are not working inside the bar.
Here is the code: nc.connect (null); var ns: NetStream = new NetStream(nc); myVideo.attachVideo(ns); ns.play("No More Oil Platforms.flv"); this.ControllerAnime_mc.Bar_mc.Play_mc.onPress = function() { [Code] .....
i have 4 main sections of my site and i would like it if the user is deep into section 2 and wants to click a button to go to section 3, section 2 actually reverses every tween/action it has ( breaking down ) then goes to section 3. i would prefer this rather than an abrupt shutdown section 2 and section 3 starts.
I have an issue with an animated rollover/out state that I have created. I have seven movieclips that I am using as buttons and when rolled over/out play a different frame of the MC and move all the other mc's with an actionscript tween. The code works as it should but when I try to rollover/out of the mc to quickly the whole thing goes haywire and all the clips get out of place. I have tried to disable the buttons as soon as the user rollover on the mc but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I am only posting the code for one of the mc (publicist_btn) since all the code for the rest are the same.
I made a vertical list of thumbnails and converted them into a movie clip. There is a total of 20 thumbnails. I masked the movie clips so that it only shows 5 thumbnails at a time. I created keyframes at every point in the clip that 5 thumbnails are shown so that I can pause it.I was trying to use this code to scroll down from the first set of 5 to the second:
on (release) { design_thumbnails.gotoAndPlay (20) }
When I click the button nothing happens I'd also like to know how to rewind the movie so that when I press the up arrow it goes up to the previous set of 5.

I am fairly new to Actionscripting and brand new to this forum. I hate to start out desperate but I am. Let me set the stage: I created a 7 scene swf in CS3 Actionscript 2.0 and have integrated (under excruciating trials) a voiceover tract (mp3) that is perfectly timed. Now, I have been asked to put in controls so that viewers/listeners can STOP / REWIND / PLAY the swf. After numerous trys I finally got the following script to play the audio with the video:
I've been researching all day and it seems like this is impossible to do. I see you can setStyle on ComboBoxes/Lists & other components but... How do you control the style for a Roll Over state? I'm not looking to change colors but instead, turn underlining on and off during MOUSE_OVER and MOUSE_OUT, respectively
im outta it. The Flash files i created for a project are WAY WAY too slow in terms of time of reaction. I can take seconds to simply show a rollOver state on a given mc. And very erratic behaving.
I did other projects before without any problem. Its slow local, on the server, standalone, in browser, well
I've been using the following code for a set of buttons that activates/deactivates the buttons so there is only one active button at a time:
[Code]....
I found this code here: [URL] I've been messing with this code for a couple days now and can't seem to figure out how to add a rollover state to this code, everything I try either glitches this code out or doesn't work... So at the moment it does half of what I want (makes it where there's only one active button at a time), what I want to do is to add a Rollover effect to the code above.
