ActionScript 2.0 :: OnRollout Cancels OnRelease - Play An Mc Timeline On Rollover And Rewind The Mc On Rollout?
Jul 7, 2010
i have some script that i am using to play an mc timeline on rollover and rewind the mc on rollout, but my problem is that i want to add an onRelease action that takes the mc to an specific frame within the mc. thing is that the onRollout action cancels out the onRelease action and rewinds the mc regardless. this is the script that i have on the first frame of the mc

I have been asked to use a lady who stays still but then when you rollover a button her arms moves to that button, I have looked everywhere for some answers but just can't find a single example of one.
Sounds so simple, but I have been trying to sort this for ages and just can't make it work properly

simple one this, or so i thought! basically, i want a mc to play from start to finish (11 frames) upon rollover and upon rollout i want it to play backwards to the first frame. Accurately.
ActionScript Code:
on (rollOver) {
if (activ.currentFrame <= 11)
{
[Code]....
Currently i JUST goes to the next frame. So i need something like currentFrame +1 or something?

How to get a video to play upon rollover and pause upon rolling out? Here's an example: [URL]. Roll over the dark gray stripe and click on Contact. Roll over the videos to start them. I have not been able to find any info out there on how this is done.

I created a simple flash movie for a client that loops 3 times. At the end of each revolution i want to add a button that will pause the main movie action and reveal a small pop-up for legal copy when the user rolls over it, then re-start the movie again once they roll off it - however, it will only do this when the user interacts with the button, if they don't touch it, the movie will continue through the 3 loops unimpeded. Side note: I cannot use pause and play buttons, it needs to be a simple rollover/rollout function.

I am having a fair amount of trouble trying to control prevFrame on the timeline, with a play/rewind type motion. Basically, what I want to do is navigate between 3 keyframes on the timeline with 'next' and 'prev' buttons controlling it. I have no problem navigating forward, but when the previous button is pressed on the last keyframe, it just rewinds to the first keyframe. I have stop(); commands on each keyframe, but it seems to skip over the second keyframe when rewinding. The buttons are present throughout the length of the timeline. Here are my actions for the first frame;

i have this code setup in a frame and after jumping to another frame i would like to remove it because its not needed there. actually its in my way.the mymc is on one layer with only one keyframe at the beginning and then just frames till the end of my timeline. i attach the mcs dynamically to mymc and then setup my actions on another layer frame by frame, as needed.in this specific frame i don't want the mcx's to react to mouse events.[code]

I have a simple scroller that scrolls up or down as the user moves their mouse. The problem is that when you RollOut the scroller keeps moving. I can't figure out how to put a onRollOut function that will stop the scroll upon RollOut.
years.onRollOver = yearsOver;
function yearsOver() {
this.onEnterFrame = yearsPanel;

I have some code for my movie clip which is as follows:
purplebow.onRelease=function(){
purplebow.onEnterFrame=function(){
this.nextFrame();
if(this._currentframe==this._totalframes){
delete this.onEnterFrame; }}}
purplebow.onRollOut=function(){
purplebow.onEnterFrame=function(){
this.prevFrame();
if(this._currentframe==1){
delete this.onEnterFrame; }}}
When you click on the movieClip "purplebow" the animation starts, and when you roll off it goes back to normal. What I would like implementing some code into this so that my other movieClips (which are: bluebow, redbow, greenbow, etc). Disappear onRelease and then return onRollOut. The code and the movieClips are all on the same timeline, each on different layers.

So, I've always struggled with the best way to do this. I have a method, but it seems like there's gotta be a better way.
Say you have an array of menu items
Code:
var menuArray:Arrary = [item1,item2,item3];
, and onRollOver they receive a certain color:
[Code]....
I realize that there's some additional code that would need to be written here, but you get the point. Basically what I'm doing is disabling the button so nothing happens onRollOut. Then I'm setting all the buttons colors to null, but changing whichever button was flagged as active to red.
It seems like a really ghetto way of doing this, and you notice a visible flicker in color of the active menu item if there are a lot of items in your array. Does anybody know a better way to handle this?

My setup has several movieclips in different layers. My problem is that .onRollOver, onRollOut and .onRelease functions are still active for movieclips lying underneath. Is it possible to inactivate these functions and then activate them again when it is needed? Or how do I solve this?

I'm trying to create a rollover for a movie clip. On rollover, a line underlines the text,and when it rolls out, the underline reverses. This works fine the first time. The next time you rollover, the animation doesn't work. Then when you move the mouse off the button, a line appears under the text and doesn't go away. Here's my code on the invisible button.
on(rollOver){
this.gotoAndPlay("animIn");
}

I'm creating a website by splitting up the main timeline into the different pages of the site. I'm trying to make a dropdown menu on the 3rd frame. On a layer called buttons I have a button with the instance name patientnumberbtn. I want that when you roll over this button is tells the menu to drop. The movie clip for the menu is nested on its own layer of the main timeline. I would like to play this nested timeline, (the drop down menu has masks and other animations that are moving around). This movieclip that everything is nested in has an instance name of patientnumbermenu. Here is what I am using for code.
patientnumberbtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE _OVER,patientnumber_over);
function patientnumber_over(event:MouseEvent):void
{
patientnumbermenu.play();
}
When I run it there is an output error #1009 but it still lets me proceed. When I roll over patientnumberbtn, nothing happens. Within the patientnumbermenu I have stop commands to prevent it from playing when we first reach frame 3 of the main timeline. I've removed these commands and the patientnumbermenu will play even though the commands used to get to frame 3 is a gotoAndStop(); command.

Have you ever noticed that problems arise when you use movie clips as buttons, script their functions with AS and then, rather than simply clicking on one of them, you click and hold down. The main problem is that rollOut animations are not played.
For example lets say you have 2 buttons next to each other and you click one and hold down on your mouse, then move to the next button, you'll see that both buttons now display the rollOver state.
Is there any way around this? I test this on almost every flash site I visit and only a small few seem to be able to get around it. Usually I don't mind so much because users will rarely click and hold imo, but for the site I am building at the moment I really want to finally know how to get around it. I've noticed it does the same thing no matter what event handler I use.

Ok ... so i think this is related to bitmap caching however the "this" is a dynamically created object that then dynamically has a .jpg placed inside of it. I want the object to disappear on rollOver and go back to normal onRollOut. But i can't figure out how to assign bitmap caching to the dynamic jpeg or this.movieClip as they are both dynamic.

I would love to know how to make a movie clip rewind
//prev_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, everyFrame);
//
//function everyFrame(event:Event):void
//{
// [code].........
heres my code basically i want it so if i stay rolloed over it keeps reversing, in stead of having to roll off and on, obviously only does one frame at a time.

I have an issue with the attached project (Flash 8). On the rollOver event, the shapes are supposed to turn yellow. On the rollOut event, the shapes should fade back to blue.It works well except in the case when you quickly rollOver then rollOut several times (try it with the largest shape at the bottom). If you do it fast enough, it seems to get hung on 'blue', the initial color.

I am getting the following error on button's rollOver & rollOut property using actionscript 3.
The code:
Thumb1.onRollOver = function () { this._alpha = 100;}Thumb1.onRollOut = function () { this._alpha = 50;}
The error is :1119: Access of possibly undefined property onRollOver through a reference with static type flash.display:SimpleButton.

so I'm currently working on a project where I will have the user mouse over an image (in this instance, a paint can) and ideally a menu should scroll up with information (which is a movie clip) and when the mouse comes off the menu would scroll back in. What I've currently got going is the paint can image as a button, and on another layer I've got the movie clip at 0% opacity. The action itself works, but the point in which the user has to mouse over is very finicky. There must be something I'm missing. I've worked with Flash years ago, so I'm a bit choppy.

I've been searching around and can't quite seem to find the answer. I gather it's a problem with actionscript, but, i digress.
What's going on is if I move my mouse too fast it won't activate either the RollOver or RollOut, and it'll just stay. Is there a certain way I need to set everything so it will NO MATTER WHAT animate when rolledover, and then ALWAYS RollOut?

I want to have a few menu buttons on my web page (home, about, contact etc.) and above them a bar (we'll call it 'grey bar' to make it a little easier to understand). When you roll over one of the buttons I want a small 'orange bar' to run along the 'grey bar' and stay over the button that you are hovering over. Then if you choose to rollout of the button the 'orange bar' will return to the page destination button that you're on. For example, if you are on the homepage the 'orange bar' begins over the 'home' button, then if you rollover 'about us' the 'orange bar' moves along the grey bar horizonatally to stay above 'about us', if you rollout it returns to 'home'.
Sorry if this isn't making much sense, i've attached the flash file so you can see what i am working with. I am just looking for a tutorial or some actionscript that will make it work. It's driving me crazy, I don't know if i should be looking to use a startDrag function (but i don't think you can use this with a rollover function) or a way to get the bar to follow the mouse.

i have followed the complex button tutorial today to design a websites buttons..
I wanted each button to link to a seperate frame for each seperate page of the site.
The roll out effect is all in one movieclip, with the actions on frame one (below)
//stop(); this.onEnterFrame = function(){
[Code]....
but I have had no success, it works perfectly for URL's typically!
