Nov 18, 2005I need to set multiple measurement markers in my Flash app. It measures distance between them.
The problem I'm experiencing is that I can not refer to MC that I create at runtime with createEmptyMovieClip. It's got a name "marker1_mc". Then I need to create secont with name "marker2_mc". They're created fine but I cannot refer to their methods to draw a marker line. I can draw line only if I'm creating only one movie and refering to it's methods. How can I add more marker pairs to calculate more than one distance?

Jun 6, 2003I have a very general requirement that seemed very simple: Step 1: Load a new external JPEG image into a MC with a string var encoding a string caption in the URL link (VALUE="../fadeTest.swf?someTextVar=TestCaption") within the EMBED / OBJECT sections. I know how to do this and it semed to work fine. STEP2: When the JPEG is loaded I would like the substituted Text to Fade In over the JPEG. The JPEG should also fade in before the Text. The fade rate should be programmable.

If it does contain a website address, I need to have a movieclip called "hilight" appear over that text.I have been messing around with this for a while but can't figure out how to search the text box to see if it contains "www." Then if it finds the "www." then make the "hilight" moviclip visible and start at the x position of the first w and the width end at the end of ".com".

My problem is, loaded XML data is always a String, but sometimes I want to load other variable types.There are several boring solutions to this, such using typeof to determine the the datatype of a variable and then using a function and switch statement to convert the XML data to the appropriate data type. I'd love though if there's a sneaky 1 liner to do this using built in functions. Something like:var x:int = typeof(x)("123");Let me phrase the problem another way.Lets say we have this:
