Trying to create an isometric game but unable to get my images to sort dyanmically, as those tricky little movie clips wander about the screen. The theory behind it is to order myArray by the .y value (so smallest number is called first), and then remove and then add the clips again according to that.[code]

The result is a trace of random X numbers, according to the number the user requested. If he/she types 3, the class gives 3 numbers.It works nice, but when I try to put an sort(Array.NUMERIC), i get this error:

When I rotate images that have been imported to the library or loaded via loader and try to rotate or scale them using the interface or actionscript they become sort of pixelated and blocky. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, does anyone know why it happens or how to compensate for it?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to build a simple slideshow in AS3, what I have so far is I load all my images into an array and place them on the stage in order at index 0 so the first image in the array comes out on top, in terms of stacking. As the slideshow plays it takes the top image off the stack and sends it to the back. This works fine. Where I'm having problem is if the user uses the thumbnail interface to skip ahead or backwards in by multiple images, how to tell my 'stack' of images the new order and sort them the right way.

Normally, I'd just like to sort the array alphabetically using the name field, which is easy enough using the following code. However, I'd like to create a radio button called 'loadedRadioButton' and when it's click on, I'd like to sort the array on the loaded value first(any items with loaded=true should be at the top, sorted alphabetically), then afterwards, any other items with loaded=false, sorted alphabetically should follow afterwards, how can I do it?

View 1 RepliesI need to load dynamically a few images (4-6) so that by clicking on particular image user would invoke particular action. Embedding images solves the problem but at the expense of file size. If I load them dynamically, they lose their ID.

I am facing a problem in flex 4.1 sdk. (thou I was using flex 4.5 sdk, but for some reasons I had to use 4.1, I can explain that too, but its relevant to the problem I am facing now) I fixed all the errors that I got when I complied my code in Flex 4.5 to Flex 4.1, now I dont get any error. Basically most of the error were because there is no Image class implemented using the Spark architecture in Flex 4.1. So, I switched to mx.controls.Images class.
Now I dont get any errors, but after building the project, and running it, I do not see any images in the entire application. I also compiled the code again with 4.5 (with mx.control.Images class) I see the images properly.

The script below works when I test the index.swf file in Flash as well as testing the index.html file in Dreamweaver. When I upload the HTML and SWF file to my webhost (Just Host), however, it doesn't load the images!!! Is there another line(s) of code that needs to be added or is there something wrog with the webhost? to reduce the size of my website which is my ultimate goal.

I know my app is getting invoked and it appears to work fine when I hardcode the image url into the flash app. But the query method just does not seem to be working!
This is hosted on a linux site supporting php.
I am using a singleton class (popup, which means it doesn't forget the last used variables) which contains a datagrid. I am making various columns visible/invisible, setting the widths and headers in accordance to data received from a database call. Everything works fine except that when I put the breakpoints before and after the point where I change width of columns, I do not see the change in width of datagrid at all! Instead I see some values totally out of sync as widths of datagrid column! However, since it is a singleton class, the next time I call this popup, I see widths which I did set up in last call.
I must be messing up in calling the setWidth() function (which is my custom function which changes the width of datagrid in action script). What should be the point where I should call this function? I tried in creationComplete, show and in the setter of dataprovider.

I have an image scrolling setup like in itunes, however I am unable to click on the images to play a frame in my timeline (i.e. I�m going to click on one of the revolving pictures, which change to another frame, enlarging a square on the page which contains information). When I get a collection back from the service tier, I create an ArrayCollection and apply a sort. When I add an item to the collection later on, the sort is still in place? It seems to be the case. I've used AS2.0 to build my site. I have several .jpgs that I'm loading dynamically on my flash site from my server. For some reason only some of the .jpgs are loading pixelated. I've tried to look up solutions to this, but I'm not exactly sure where a quality=best or smoothing=true script should be placed. And I'm equally as puzzled as to why only some of my .jpgs are loading pixelated? This is very frustrating, this is the code I'm using to load my images:

I've been playing around with a demo version of a PHP Flv streaming player from rich media project. I've been able to setup my player to play flv videos dynamically by passing an id from the database to the swf file (works great).
However I cannot for the life of me work out how images are loaded dynamically. The player uses the filename and adds .jpg as the extension to load the image file when the player starts. Problem is my image name will be different to the file and so I need to pass a variable in the same way I am passing a variable for the movie name.
