I know my app is getting invoked and it appears to work fine when I hardcode the image url into the flash app. But the query method just does not seem to be working!
This is hosted on a linux site supporting php.
I can start an instance of Flash Media Server 4 on Amazon EC2, using the Adobe public AMI, and I am able to view the vod and live media samples without any problems.
I can SSH into the running instance, and I can also bring up the Admin Console web page for that instance in a browser. However I have not been able to log in to the Admin Console.
Before trying to log in to the Admin Console, I have edited /opt/adobe/fms/conf/fms.ini and inserted a username and password, then I saved the modified file.
I have also updated my security group to add a custom TCP rule to open port 1111.On the Admin Console page login fields I have kept the default server name of Server 1.For the server address I have tried both localhost and also the public DNS address of my EC2 instance.I have used the username and password that I put into fms.ini.
The script below works when I test the index.swf file in Flash as well as testing the index.html file in Dreamweaver. When I upload the HTML and SWF file to my webhost (Just Host), however, it doesn't load the images!!! Is there another line(s) of code that needs to be added or is there something wrog with the webhost? to reduce the size of my website which is my ultimate goal.

What I'm trying to do is to create a class loading three images as a pile into a movie clip and be able to switch from one image to another (with a fade effect) thanks to a method (setPic).
The problem I have is when I want to store my loaded image into my array( magnitude[i-1] = loader.content; ) it doesn't load anything, provoking the addchild(magnitude[i-1]); to return a null error. I know the file is properly loaded because if I addchild(loader.content) directly it does load the image (but I can't store it and access it later obviously).[code]...

I work with Flash Pro allmost 11 hours per day and every while i get a error which messes up everything. Approximetly i get this after about 2-3 hours withevery project.After i get this error there is no chance to test movies afterwards.I see a fast flash of the loader window but it dissapears so fast i cant even really see if it is loader.

I have an issue with a Flash applet that I've written; it's an MP3 player that is supposed to load an MP3 file from a web address.
When I run the SWF on my local computer, it works like a charm. However, when I put it on a webpage, it does not load the MP3 file. (I guess that's what I get for not testing it that way beforehand.) I've double-checked permissions and it seems that everything is as it should be.
I know that AS3 has some cross-domain policies, but I'm loading the MP3 file from the same domain. I understand that Flash has sandbox properties, but I would expect that a file in the same domain shouldn't be a problem. I've heard of people having problems with SWFs before, but not regular media files.
If possible, I'd like find a solution that doesn't require rewriting the code, as I have a release version of the SWF on my site currently. (Rewriting won't be a problem, but I have to wait until the end of the day to do it, and the SWF is on display now.)
Edit: I had three friends test this, and it worked for them. However, it still didn't work for me. I'm at home now, and I'm testing - my applet loads an MP3 in Firefox, but not in Chrome. (Oddly, the friends who tested were using Chrome, which loaded it with no issues.) At work, my applet would not load an MP3 in Chrome or Firefox.
Experience with Flash: very very little (very) Version: CS4 Operating system: XP Pro. I was given an FLV file to display on the web. I imported the file into flash and exported it as an html file.
The movie worked great online, but then I was asked to save a copy of the movie on a CD to send it to a client - I saved all the files in a folder. I tested it on my computer and I was able to view the movie, but when the client loaded the html page, all they saw was a bar (that has the volume & play buttons) and a green line that scrolls across it. Here's what it looks like
Some people can load the html file and view the movie and others cannot (on their desktop). On some computers I tried updating the flash player (I removed the existing one first), but it still did not work.
As much as I'd like to be, I am not a Flash developer - I just use it to the extent that I must (the nature of my job) Did I provide enough information for someone to be able to tell what the issue is and how to resolve it?
When testing the code inside flash or the SWFplayer it works but online inside the html page it dosent complete.

View 2 RepliesI have flash (AIR) application running on a single controlled system (there is only one computer running it and nobody has access to it).I will host some files on Amazon's S3 and I need to make sure that only my flash app running locally on that computer can access those files.I'm wondering what the best (most secure) approach would be for doing this.My initial thought is to make the files on S3 private and store the secret key on the local computer running the flash app. Then when I needed to access the files from flash I would send out an authenticated query string with some expiration time. The only problem with this is that I don't know how to generate the S3 signature in flash. Also I'm a little skeptical about storing the secret key on the flash machine (even though it's a privately owned machine with no other users using it).Is there a better approach perhaps?I have access to a server with PHP, so I could maybe use that as some kind of proxy, I'm just not sure how while keeping the file access secure and not creating a bottleneck through the web server (as opposed to direct access to S3).

I have created a live stream using Amazon Web Services and Adobe Flash Media Server 4.5.AWS provides me with both a .f4m and .m3u8 file, to use in and tags, respectively.The .f4m loads fine on my desktop browser, and the .m3u8 file loads fine on my iOS device. However, my Android devices will not load either file.What code/solutions are there to get this to play on Android devices?

what I need to do to set up variable bit-rate streaming with Amazon Cloudfront. I am not using JWPlayer but have built my own flash player.

I am using FMS 3.5.
I am facing a problem in flex 4.1 sdk. (thou I was using flex 4.5 sdk, but for some reasons I had to use 4.1, I can explain that too, but its relevant to the problem I am facing now) I fixed all the errors that I got when I complied my code in Flex 4.5 to Flex 4.1, now I dont get any error. Basically most of the error were because there is no Image class implemented using the Spark architecture in Flex 4.1. So, I switched to mx.controls.Images class.
Now I dont get any errors, but after building the project, and running it, I do not see any images in the entire application. I also compiled the code again with 4.5 (with mx.control.Images class) I see the images properly.

I've been trying to set up an instance of Flash Media Interactive Server on Amazon Web Services for an AVChat (avchat.net). I signed up for the service here:[URL] I have some simple questions on getting it started --- namely: do I create the FMIS instance myself now that I've signed up, or do I need to go ahead and create it? once installed what I'm trying to do is to add a folder for AVChat into /opt/macromedia/fms/applications/ ([URL]). I am assuming that once I do have this instance running, I can move/modify files on the server instance.

View 1 RepliesI've been thinking for a long time about working on a multiplayer game in Flash. I need updates frequently enough that ajax requests won't work so I need to use a socket server. The system will eventually have enough objects/players that I would consider it an MMO. I would like to set up a scalable system on Amazon's EC2. (Which probably effects my choice of server) This architecture would hopefully allow the game to grow without many changes over time. (Using a domain decomposition technique or something similar)
Heres my internal debate:Should I
a. Code my own socket server in C++ or Java?
b. Use the free and open source Red5 socket server for Flash?
or c. Pay the licensing fees and go for Electroserver?
I consider myself a decent developer, but am at an impasse as to what road to go down. I'm not sure if I, could develop/would need, the features of one of the prepackaged socket servers.
I'm also not sure if the prepackaged servers would work well in an Amazon EC2 environment and take full advantage of its features.
So to get around Flash security issues, I have a script to upload files to S3 by sending it to a PHP script on my server which then uploads it to S3 with server-side PHP libraries.
Now, I'm looking for a solution to downloading a file from S3 in the same way. I suppose the best way to do it is to somehow make a PHP script that downloads the file from S3, then sends it back to the Flash client?
But the one thing is, I don't want the file to hang around--I'd like to delete it when the process is done. I suppose I can just have the Flash client call another PHP script on the server that deletes the file after the load is finished.

For each page, I have a value stored in my CMS that is the "streamName". The stream name corresponds to a flashvars paramenter in the object/embed tags that show the video player:&streamName=my-great-video
On my new player, I'm able to get the video using a URL similar to [URL] How Does Flash (or Amazon???) know to add in the .swf extension? There are several video formats used on the site, and the current player works with them all... But, as I mentioned above, on each page the value store for the video (ex="my-great-video") includes no extension.
So I have a working Flash player using Cloudfront, AS3, NetConnection & NetStream. Works with a FLV, but I need it to work with MP4s. It connects to the stream, and outputs the following:

My presumption is that it is working when looking at these messages, however it doesn't show the video or play any audio.
I'm building a Flash mp3 player to handle streaming mp3s served by Amazon CloudFront (which uses Flash Media Server). I'm using an FLVPlayback 2.5 component to do most of the heavy lifting (I tried an all AS3 method, but any stream automatically stopped within 5 - 10 seconds of playing). When I trace out the FLVPlayback's totalTime property, I get NaN. This is causing the seek bar to simply not work. This only seems to affect mp3s, as when I load an FLV I get a real value for totalTime. Does anyone know why this is happening
