View 2 RepliesWhen I use 'finder' to open and play this SWF, the track plays fine. As soon as I drag the SWF onto my html web page and preview in the browser, it is not functioning, so no sound plays. How do I need to tweak this so it could play? [code]...

View 4 Replieswhy a loadMovie("movie.swf", "_root.targetMC") would work on a local system, but when put onto a server (with EXACTLY the same file dir setup) would just lock up trying to transfer data? And I am talking about files that just contain one line of text, and nothing more. WTF?
View 2 RepliesI'm working on a project.In that we can register complaints to the IT department about system failure or software failure. In our company each computer is having unique system(local)IP address which is shown in the image below.
I want my complaint to be registered with that address, by which IT person can identify my system and repair it.
Yes, you can access Local File System in Flex and that too with a standard SWF without resorting to Adobe Air.Check out the link below for full details and the SWF.

View 2 RepliesI'm building an application in Flash CS3 to be deployed on CD as a Projector file. Is there any way to enable the user to browse to and play video files from their local file system.
View 3 RepliesDoes anyone know if there is any way for a Flash projector (either .exe or Mac app) to create or modify a file to the local file system? This could be anything... Flash creating a txt file, xml file, swf, anything at all.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to access local file system from Flex web application. I know it is pretty difficult, but I think there must be a way. Is there a way that Flex app can use AIR components or maybe web application can call some AIR module in order to choose files and upload?

View 2 RepliesI'm developing an application for the Blackberry Playbook using Flash Burrito 4.5 and Flex. I'd like to create a file browser to allow users to load images from the local system into the application. I followed this example [URL] When I click on the Load Image button in the simulator however, the file browser pops up but tells me that "no file was found with the specified filter", even though I don't specify any filter or even if I specify a . filter.
View 2 RepliesWhen load and SWF into another, the loader SWF can get definitions in the loaded SWF using ApplicationDomain.getDefinition(name:String) in example:
package
{
// ... imports
public class SWFLoader extends Sprite
[code]....
how can I get ALL the definitions and not just ONE of them?
I added in my application universal time, and I gave start and stop time. The process is going smoothly, but if I change my system (local) time, the entire time will be changed. Is there any solution to solve this problem?

I'm trying to load a swf compiled by the Flex SDK into a swf exported by the Flash IDE and instantiate the assets by way of getDefinition(). Normally this works fine with assets exported from the Flash IDE then loaded into another swf also from Flash IDE.This is how I could normally do this using only the Flash IDE:Loader - > Using same ApplicationDomain - > getDefinition(class)Now, using the 'Test.as' compiled from Flex SDK using the [Embed] metadata tag:Loader - > Using same ApplicationDomain - > getDefinition("Test_" + class)The problem is I'd rather not have to keep track of the asset libraries loaded to prefix the class name I'd like to get (('Test_" + class) vs (class)). Is there any way of doing this without referencing the library the class is being pulled from or without accessing the original loader? This way I don't need to know which swf the asset is coming from, just the class name that I could instantiate from the current ApplicaitonDomain.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to load a local xml file:
xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest("../xml/xmlData.xml"));
But I'm getting this security sandbox violation:
#2148: Only local-with-filesystem and trusted local SWF files may access local resources.
I don't get this error when I embed the XML file directly with the EMBED metadata tag.
I'm developing a game add-on/plugin which replaces a built in feature of an online game. The game loads an .swf therefore, my solution also has to be an swf for it to work 'in-game'.
I would like to be able to have the user press a button in the custom .swf I am making - and this would open an external application (amongst other things). I.e. if there was a button that said Notepad, it would open Notepad.exe on the machine.
My initial thinking was that i could have a XML Socket server 'daemon' runnning (c#) , which i could connect to with flash - however, as both the swf and the daemon are local, flash complained and gave this error: "Error #2010: Local-with-filesystem SWF files are not permitted to use sockets."
The only way i know to fix this - is to change the security settings of flash - not very user friendly!
So! Any thoughts on how I could otherwise go about this? I was thinking a custom http server could do the trick (connected with URLRequest) although i'm not too sure.
I got a textfile who i am reading on a serverside script and passing it as a script to my client side as3 code. The problem is that i am using characters like ä,ö,ü,ß and this isn't well displayed. I tried System.useCodePage but the compiler complains about : 1120: Access of undefined property 'System'. It doesnt matter if I tried this on the first line of the 'Action' in the first scene or in the first line of the first .as file i am loading. (btw i am only working with .as file and not in the timeline). When i am importing flash.System.* the compiler complains he dont know useCodePage.
View 3 RepliesI have a SWF file located at the local network in the public shared folder that I do not control over trying to read the external file on the local network.
I am currently hitting instead an security violation
Error #2148: SWF file file://....mySWF.swf cannot access local resource file://...config.xml"
I've added the network path where SWF an XML file resides to "trusted locations" via Flash Player Global Settings.
The added network path is successfully displayed at the list of "trusted locations" within Global Settings Manager, but it does not look like Flash Player is able to really parse the local network path as a "trusted location"

I am loading a content SWF into a container and I want the content SWF to exist in a child application domain to the container. Therefore, the structure should look like:
[system] -> [container] -> [content1]
[system] -> [container] -> [content2]
...

I have a main swf that is a container for various flash games. I want this "console" to be in a different applicationDomain as the games to avoid class/function naming problems. As I understand, the default behaviour allows loader and loadee to exchange information. How do I make sure that classes for the console doesn't interfere with the games?

I was going great with Flex, until I tried to split up my code into separate files. Now I'm struggling. Here are my files and their dependencies:
[Code]...
I have been developing two seperate flash projects and the time has come for them to merge. To do this i have decided that, rather than try to mash the code together, i will simply use a loader to load and unload the second SWF as needed. My problem is that the SWF to be loaded uses:
Code:
var className:String = Entities[No];
var libraryDomain:ApplicationDomain = stage.loaderInfo.applicationDomain;
if (libraryDomain.hasDefinition(className)) {
var MyClass:Class = libraryDomain.getDefinition(className) as Class;
item = new MyClass();
[Code]...
This works fine seperately, but when the SWF is embedded into the parent SWF it seems to use the parent's library rather than its own. (if i put an item in the parents library it can load it, otherwise it throws an error). Is there any way to keep the child SWF using its own library? and if not, any other way to do this?
