Actually, i retrieved the text from the file simply without using any PHP, so i thought there might be a way to write back to it without PHP too. Is there?? i couldn't find any through flash help files though.. Anyways, so i started trying to use PHP for it. I wrote some code so that it took some text from a dynamic text box on stage, and would write it into a text file in a folder inside the one which contains the swf and the php file.

So when they log back in, it reads the username and password from that text file to log in.

Sep 12, 2006So here is what i'm working with. I built a quiz for teachers to use so all they would have to do is edit a text file and then flash would read the file and generate the quiz based off it. The problem i have is that a few of the teachers are having problems editing the text file in the correct way. I wrote this flash movie to save the variables to a text file. I read somewhere that fscommand - save dosent work anymore. Is there some other way to have it write a text file to the local machine? The swf would be saved on their machines.

Here is what I am trying to accomplish I am able to retrieve these variables from the txt file that is stored with the SWF file and display them, I am unable to allow the user to change a line "item" and then have them save it amending the TXT file.
So the goal is to have this list on multiple office computers so that you can go in add an item to the list it then updated the TXT file so the next user can open up the flash file see the list and even add or remove an item.
The TXT file is going to be stored on a private drop box folder that is available on all computers concerned. ( If it's going to be easier than putting it server side )

I've used Authowrware previously and it was quite easy to create a large string of data (a comma separated list) and export that to a text file (and create the text file if it didn't already exist). I could then easily append additional rows of data (records) to the text file. We want to build a questionnaire that will store the data locally on the computer in a text file. Each record may have a few hundred data points in a comma separated list.

Jun 3, 2005It is possible writing to a dynamic text field in flash using PHP without calling the PHP from the flash? I don't want use the loadvar function, just load a regular swf with a dynamic text field and write a php line and write to the field.

Jan 15, 2010I am creating a simple program which writes a string to a spreadsheet when it is copied to the system clipboard. Everything works great, except that if the text copied has multiple paragraphs and therefore has returns in it, when written to the file, they get interpretted as going to the next row of the spreadsheet. The, instead of writing all the text to one cell, the paragraphs get split up into multiple cells on multiple rows. How does one format the string so that paragraphs are still sepearated by a space, but it will write all of the text in one cell?

Nov 24, 2002I'm trying to work out how to get an input text box, on the click of a btn, to send any text in it to a html page. I can do this in flash by having an input write to a dynamic text box but I'm not having much luck working out how to do this with a html page.
I kind of understand the document.write JavaScript and I'm getting my head round that now but I can't seem to find anything on the JS I need to do the above. Could someone point me in the right direction before my brain goes into over drive.

Nov 20, 2010I'm found the site with the monkey on the the flash thing and all it shows is a name, email and something else and I used it and it works by including a txt file and displaying text from that file as putting down this information

and I can't find the site anymore to get help.I want to know how to include a PHP script that shows this information like this

I want to show this stuff on the flash but every time I execute by using it as localhost/test.php, it will show a syntax error.
