Actionscript 3.0 :: Write And Retrieve Variables From TEXT File?

I am scratching my head because there isn't much out there even in the forum on something this simple.[code]...
Here is what I am trying to accomplish I am able to retrieve these variables from the txt file that is stored with the SWF file and display them, I am unable to allow the user to change a line "item" and then have them save it amending the TXT file.
So the goal is to have this list on multiple office computers so that you can go in add an item to the list it then updated the TXT file so the next user can open up the flash file see the list and even add or remove an item.
The TXT file is going to be stored on a private drop box folder that is available on all computers concerned. ( If it's going to be easier than putting it server side )
I'm new to the community, and have decided to make an account because I'm probably going to be asking a few questions about the project I am currently working on. I am probably biting off more than I can chew with this, but I need something to work on, to keep myself occupied.

I've been trying to work on a web portal for updating a website I am creating. I originally duplicated a write-to-.txt php script and duplicated it for each of my pages, but for some reason it isn't working out very well as I assume they are fighting with each other. I am looking into creating what I assume is called an array, so that I can store 5 separate data pieces in one text file but I can't seem to find a tutorial that is close to this. the closest I can find is a guestbook tutorial but it is very out of date. I would like to be able to store multi-line text (so that paragraphs and breaks are preserved) from 5 different input boxes and then retrieve that data upon loading of the input boxes and in a different page which would be the actual content of the website.
I'm working on a method of authentication, and i have 2 text fields named 'username' and 'pass' I want to make it so that when the user enters their username and password, that info gets stored into a text file. So when they log back in, it reads the username and password from that text file to log in.
I'm trying to write some text to a text file. Actually, i retrieved the text from the file simply without using any PHP, so i thought there might be a way to write back to it without PHP too. So here is what i'm working with. I built a quiz for teachers to use so all they would have to do is edit a text file and then flash would read the file and generate the quiz based off it. The problem i have is that a few of the teachers are having problems editing the text file in the correct way. I wrote this flash movie to save the variables to a text file. I read somewhere that fscommand - save dosent work anymore. Is there some other way to have it write a text file to the local machine? The swf would be saved on their machines.

Is there a way of writing data into a text file without using AIR components in AS3 using flash. The save method of fileReference class opens up a file selection dialog box. Cant that method directly write data into some file withot opening he dialog?
I have an application that writes traces with a timestamp when certain items are clicked or accessed. I need to write these to a text log file so that they can be accessed remotely.. The device the app runs on doesn't have a web server and doesn't run the flash debug player, os is xp. How can I send these traces to a text file? I noticed Arthropod writes to an html file, but I need to do this automatically without interaction.

Users can write a text, modify it (in type, color and size) and choose a picture (which is loaded through a XML-file) for an e-card, then send it to whomever they want. But when they have made the modifications, how do I save the card, and then store it in a database?

I'm trying to do a usual reading of variables from a PHP file, and I'm getting error 2101: The String passed to URLVariables.decode() must be a URL-encoded query string containing name/value pairs.I have tried to open the remote .php file in my browser, and the output is perfect. The variables are all in the format variable1=value1&variable2=value2, etc. And yes, I know about the thing with the initial '&' character and have removed it, to no avail.
Now, I have COPIED the exact text that the PHP outputs from my browser, and I've PASTED it into a .txt file. Then I uploaded the .txt file to my server. Then I changed the route in the URLRequest object from "...myfile.php" to "...myfile.txt". it works perfectly.So... what could be the difference between the text that the .php file prints vs the text that the .txt file prints, for flash to NOT read it?
I am working on a project where I am getting some data back into my .swf via FlashVars. They are being sent back in a HTML Code: <param name = "FlashVars value ="resultstring=&username=value&userfirstname=value&userlocation=value" I am not sure how to target the resultstring in actionscript to retrieve all of the different variables?
now how do i make the movie clip to first go from frame 1 to 10( last frame in teh movieclip) with the text time and then when the movie clip starts again it should say place and so on and so forth.. depending on how many textline variables i define in the text file?
I am trying to retrieve some information back from my LMS and into variables in Flash with AS3. I used to be able to do this without any problems in AS2, but can't seem to find a way to make this work in AS3. In AS2, publishing with the "Flash with SCORM 1.2 Tracking" option, I could call a line like the following:
This would grab the student name from the LMS and store it in Flash in the variable named stuname.
Any way to do this with AS3? I can set values back to the LMS no problem still through fscommand such as score or completion, I just can't get anything back from the LMS such as student name or lesson location.
I'm working on my first flash ASP project and have a question about passing variables from flash to an asp page. Can I write a call to an asp page with variables in the url?
I am trying to write a class file using a .as file instead of writing code into the script tab of a .fla file.When I write stage.addChild(img); I get an error that stage is null. When I take out stage, and just write addChild(img); the code runs fine, but nothing appears on stage. Do I need to do something to set a stage active?
Is this because I don't have a Main class? My class is named after the file and I don't have a file named Main.Here is the code. As it is, it runs and I get the two trace outputs, but no graphic on my screen.

I am a dynamic site newbie, but have been making simple animations with Flash for some years. I have got a friend to give me a leg up to create a flash page full of input text boxes that write to a text file via PHP and are then dispayed in dynamic text boxes. [URL]. I want to replace some of the imput text boxes with combo boxes. eg if the combo box has the options of say "rigid" or "trailer" it would write which ever was selected in the text file so this would be displayed in the dynamic text box for the end user to see. It seems very simple but I have looked all over the options for combo boxes and can see no mention of variables.
