Oct 22, 2005I have on one file (player1.fla), a movie that plays MP3s from an array, which I specify in that movie. The code for that works just fine.I've duplicated the file and renamed it to a different one (player2.fla) so I could load the MP3s from a variable (array) on a text file. This way, to add more songs, all I would have to do is update the text file.
I changed the code around a tiny bit in the "player2.fla" file to accomodate for loading a text file, but nothing more.*My Problem* The text file loads properly and displays the Title of the mp3, but it won't play the mp3.The text file looks something like this: (just an example)

Actionscript 3.0 :: Write And Retrieve Variables From TEXT File?
Feb 1, 2011I am scratching my head because there isn't much out there even in the forum on something this simple.[code]...
Here is what I am trying to accomplish I am able to retrieve these variables from the txt file that is stored with the SWF file and display them, I am unable to allow the user to change a line "item" and then have them save it amending the TXT file.
So the goal is to have this list on multiple office computers so that you can go in add an item to the list it then updated the TXT file so the next user can open up the flash file see the list and even add or remove an item.
The TXT file is going to be stored on a private drop box folder that is available on all computers concerned. ( If it's going to be easier than putting it server side )

Aug 25, 2010I've been trying to work on a web portal for updating a website I am creating. I originally duplicated a write-to-.txt php script and duplicated it for each of my pages, but for some reason it isn't working out very well as I assume they are fighting with each other. I am looking into creating what I assume is called an array, so that I can store 5 separate data pieces in one text file but I can't seem to find a tutorial that is close to this. the closest I can find is a guestbook tutorial but it is very out of date. I would like to be able to store multi-line text (so that paragraphs and breaks are preserved) from 5 different input boxes and then retrieve that data upon loading of the input boxes and in a different page which would be the actual content of the website.

Jan 3, 2007So I made some a nifty a MP3 player that grabs songs from an XML file. It displays the song name in the dynamic text field. Unfortunately, I only have very little display space and many of the track names are long. The solution: marquee scroll the text horizonally. The problem: I never marquee scrolled dynamic text and now I am lost.
Here is my main AS:

And while this did make the text scroll on the first song, it doesn't work so hot on the second song. It blips back-and-forth between the first and second song name. Advance to a third song and you've got an even bigger blipping mess. I kind of think that this code above isn't the way to go... that it isn't even worth reworking... that I should try something completely new.

It seems to open at different spots on different computers. They also want the title bar changed from "Adobe Flash Player 10" to their own title.

The problem is that the above code centers my alert content as well, not just the title text. What selector do I need to access just the title of the alert control? I'm using the 4.x SDK and Spark.

to my TitleWindow component MXML file (which I instantiate from the main.mxml file) the variables defined in myScript.as appear to be null hence I can't populate my text fields in the title window, even though those variables work fine in the main.mxml.

Nov 6, 2010I'm trying to edit a Flash file, that get it's data from and XML file.Now when you click on one of the menu items, the page + page title should change, but somehow the page title remains the same. (at least for the first 3 menu items) But when you go to the last menu item and then back to one of the first 3 menu items, the correct page title is shown.I'm no flash / AS expert, so I can't really find out what the problem is, but it seems like it has something to do with this function

I created the text, converted it to a symbol, then tried to create a motion tween in which I could tweak the alpha values of the text object. However when I try to create the keyframe, the popup that comes up has the Color option greyed out (which is where I believe the alpha setting lives).

Eventually Im trying to pull a bunch of data about Interstate 80 drug and cash stops for an interactive project to go with a big centerpiece story for the newspaper I work for. Video object returns 2 pairs of parameters (width,height) which are useless because returns always parameters passed in constructor of Video() object. Another pair is (videoWidth,videoHeight) which is always (0,0). I gave up...

May 15, 2010I would like to know if it is possible to save data from an input text field to a file on my computer, then retrive the data from that file and load it into a dynamic text field. This application is not and will not be on a website of anysort its an experiment in creating a sorta phone book on my computer. I have created 2 input text fields. the first one is where i would enter a persons name, instance name of "_name", the second input text field is where i would enter a phone number, instnace name of "_phone".
Also there is a button with an instance name of "_save", which hopefully will save the data to a txt file on my computer or something, at this point i am up for anything. what I dream of doing is haveing two projectors one for entering the data, and the other for retrieving the data. The second projector, i would like to beable to type in a name or phone number then it would display, load, retrieve the name and phone number from that file storing the data.
