ActionScript 3 :: Cannot Resolve Attribute (of One Event Function) In MXML

Feb 28, 2012

I tried many way to solve this error in mxml but failed anyway:
"Cannot resolve attribute 'colorChanged' for component type com.colorPicker.controls.colorclasses.ColorMap. AdvancedColorChooser.mxml"
<ColorPicker:ColorMap id="ColorSelector" modifier="{ColorModifier.value}" mode="{ColorMode}" value="{_value}" colorChanged=" {
handleColorChange(); <!-- defined in the script region below -->
[Code] .....

How should I define the "colorChanged"? Should I define colorChanged as an event in ColorMap.as? Like this,
internal function colorChanged(arg1:flash.events.Event=null):void {
return;
}
But I got syntax error parsing the mxml file.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Expected Definition Keyword After Attribute Function

Apr 23, 2009

I have been building my website using a simple mouse event click system that makes movie clips play at specifically names keyframes. it took me a bit, but I got it right and the code was simple. here is an example of the code that works:
films.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, btnOver1);
function btnOver1(event:MouseEvent):void{
sketch_5.gotoAndPlay("f_over");
}

Pretty simple stuff. but now I am working on a paid project for someone, and it is a bit more complicated in scope, but essentially I would be using the same code over and over again. it's a glorified slide show. but I ran into a problem. I used this code, which is the same (with different names and mouse event) as the one above.
mcLifeLED.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, Light_Type);
Function Light_Type(event.MouseEvent):void{
mlights.gotoAndPlay("p_life");
}

Its telling me that "Function Light_Type(event.MouseEvent):void" is wrong with this message "1071: Syntax error: expected a definition keyword (such as function) after attribute Function, not Light_Type." I may be wrong, but from what I can read in it, it's telling me that the function I named about "Light_Type" can't be found...

I can listen for it while in my navigation.mxml file, by using

But in other component, I can not listen for it, even trying the same as I did in navigation.mxml.

tracing it back gives me an undefined.

Flex :: Event Metadata: Using Static Variable For "name" Attribute?

Jun 24, 2011

I want to use the Event metadata tags to show what types of event my control will dispatch. The syntax looks like:

<fx:Metadata>
[Event(name="eventName", type="MyEvent")]
</fx:Metadata>

It seems like a best practice in Flex/Actionscript to define static variables that define event names like so:

public class MyEvent extends Event
{
public static const EVENT_NAME:String = "eventName";
// Other stuff..
}

It's a great practice since the event name can change easily and not have to be modified throughout the code. So my question is: Is there any way to use this static const in my metadata event tag? I can't seem to do something like this:

<fx:Metadata>
[Event(name="{MyEvent.EVENT_NAME}", type="MyEvent")]
</fx:Metadata>

Am I just ignorant of the proper syntax to do this, or is it impossible? Seems like it's just asking for hard to find bugs if someone decides to change the const since it is not strongly typed here.

As I understand, you cannot pass parameters along to eventhandlers, so I was wondering what is the best way to operate in this case. I've read you can make custom events, but never saw an event passed as a parameter, and was wondering if that's even possible.
