I'm trying to connect to a Zend-PHP service within a pure ActionScript program. I've managed to use the service successfully using Flex. (But Flex mobile apps are bloated, and typically 10x bigger than pure ActionScript apps - which is why I'm trying to write it in Pure Actionscript). I'm trying to write a Silverlight control that hosts a Flash camera and microphone (since Silverlight doesn't support these things natively, worse luck). I've written a short little Flex application ("WLocalWebCam.swf") which handles the camera, and exposes two external methods: connect(uri:String, streamName:String), and disconnect(). I can call these successfully through JavaScript as follows (simplified to remove error handling, etc.):

I have a large FLA (about 13 MB) which used to compile fine.
Recently, when I try to publish it, the AS 3.0 files are not getting compiled (Generated size report says 10 bytes for AS3 code) and the swf just keeps blinking (due to the unavailability of the class code for the components). When I tweak around a bit with the class path (and finally restoring it to where it was), sometimes it works
Is there any reason, why the compiler would silently fail. Does flash have any cyclic dependency problems (like in old include statements in C). I somehow see this as a compiler crash. I know there might something wrong with my code but it doesnt show any error.

I have a very simple Flash app that is basically just a set of links for a company home page. I've used getURL to direct the users to a number of web sites (e.g. Google, a train timetable website, a telephone directory website - and so on). It works fine when I run the swf directly on my test PC. However, when I run the html file (produced by the Flash Publish function), rather than the swf file, the app works but nothing happens wjhen I click on the links. It is as if getURL was being ignored.
I have tried this using swf files saved in Flash 8 or Flash 7 versions, and in IE 6 and 7 browsers. The purpose of the app is to provide the users with links, but as none of the links work it is pretty useless.

i've made a flash page and I want when a user view my flash a url loads in the flash silently i've tryed getURL method but when the URL loads in the flash the page changes but I don't want the page change .think I want to log user IP by loading a php or sth like that.
- I don't want to use iframe outside of the flash like getURL("http://myurl","htmlframe");
- I don't want to to solve it in html codes (OUT of the flash).
I just want the url loads silently in the flash.

i managed to make a image gallery with the help of the gotoAndLearn ZendAmf Flash tutorial. When i use the WAMP localhost it works absolutely great, but when i try to use it online it doesn´t work.[code]

I'm developing an application and because of certain design restrictions I have to do it in Flash. This application communicates with another one done in c++, but just because I need a couple strings, so I thought it would be easy to write them to a .txt file and parse it. But the only way I've found so far is adding a browse event handler and select the file manually. That's no good for me, I need the file to be read automatically given a path, something like:

I've (actually my classmate) got a problem with loading local ZEND_AMF services on Windows 7 (XAMPP). I can't find any answer on Google or on Stackoverflow. Our Flash app has to load 50 or so files from a remote destination. Under normal network conditions, this is no problem. However some of our users started to report that the application "stopped working" during the loading phase. After some tests where we decreased the network quality to a point where 1 out of 3 packets were dropped in bursts, we managed to reproduce the error reports. Looking at firebug, it appears as if a few of the files (1 to 3 out of the 50) begin loading but never complete. No errors are raised in ActionScript and there is no apparent pattern in which files fail to complete.
Has anybody run into situation before and found a cause and or fix to deal with these situations ?It's not too hard to write something that manually verifies if loaders stop loading and restart the loading process, but I was wondering if we're simply not listening to the right error events (right now we listen to progress, complete, and IOErrors) or if there are other solutions ?

I've bought the new Adobe Web Premium CS5 and I have big problems with the Flash Professional CS5.
First time the application started correctly, but didn't start next time. I always had to remove all application settings in "Documents and Settings/user/Local Settings/Application Data/Flash CS5", what is already not very good.

I've watched a really helpful tutorial on FB4.5 for PHP by Mihai Corlan and am hoping to use some of his techniques but would like to use a different PHP server because Zend Server costs money and I'd rather avoid polluting my workstation with still more daemon-type services. I've set up numerous Debian and CentOS servers from scratch and would like to configure FB4.5 for PHP so that I can debug both my Actionscript and PHP. Has anyone done this? I could certainly used advice from someone who's gone through all the trouble already. I'd very much like to capitalize on all of the ways that FB4.5 automatically generates code and creates links for you rather than writing all that stuff by hand.

I am trying to use adobe flash builder 4 with a php service.I had it set up an older macbook running leopard, but just tried to set it up on my new laptop running snow leopard.I did all the same steps.. set the Flex Server to be PHP, set the web root and url.Then I go to Data->Connect To PHP and point it to a php file I have in my web root. It says it needs to install Zend, and claims it does so successfully, but then when I try to continue, I get an error.I don't understand.. this same setup works on my older laptop.
(Yes, I checked the amf.production was false)

I want to send a request to my Zend AMF to Open a Dialogue Box for a File Download.The process:Send a request to the Zend Server from my flash App, process the MYSQL results with PHP, then send the result to the browser as a file download (.csv) AND a result true or false to the appI have the code working just fine outside of the Zend Environment, but of course, when i go to echo/print the file - it sends back to flash with nothing happening.Is there any way around this?

I have a Flex-Page which connects to a MySQL-DB through PHP (Zend). I run the Flex-Page on an IIS-Server (Windows Server 2008 R2) and it works. But the problem is, that i specified the web root to the C:inetpubwwwroot directory (there php is running). On the server i want it on another directory.(Now i have the main Flex Page in the directory für the webserver, and the php files are in the wwwroot directory).
When i specify the web root to an other directory, nothing works, not even on my local machine.

I feel like I'm missing something really simple here. I'm loading a AS3 swf containing a form (created by one of our designers) into a flex app. The swf's tabIndex properties work fine when the swf is viewed by itself, however, once it's loaded into the flex app:

the form fields stop receiving focus on tab. I've been looking at the FocusManager in flex, for some sort of solution, but I can't seem to find any examples, and I'm not entirely sure I'm looking in the right place. Am I stuck redoing this form in flex?

I am using the Tweetr AS3 library in Flash. Authentication, timeline retrieval and posting to Twitter all work fine. For some reason the Retweet function works only a small part of the time and fails most of the times - I get a Stream Error #2032 . When checking in Firebug I see that the call is made [URL].. but it returns a404 error. I can't see any difference between the times that it works and the times it doesn't.
Are there any known issues with Twitter's Retweet API that may cause this problem?

I'm writing a web application using three tier architecture. I have three Amazon EC2 ubuntu servers. The first server handles the presentation of the application and includes my main flash file. The second EC2 instance represents my application server. It contains the AMFPHP files and corresponding web services. Finally, the third instance handles persistance and is running a MySQL database. Both the presentation and application servers are running an apache web server. I created security groups specific to each tier such that the presentation layer will accept all incoming traffic on port 80 while the application layer will only accept incoming traffic from the presentation server. This should allow anyone to request my web application from the presentation server but prevent anyone from accessing the web services on my application server.My flash application cannot make web service calls to my application server. When a request is sent, I never receive a response from the server and eventually receive a security sandbox error.[code]It seemed odd that I wasn't receiving a response, so I decided to try a couple of things:
1. I connected to my presentation tier via ssh and attempted to use lynx to connect to my application server's gateway.php. I was able to connect without any problems.
2. I used Chrome's developer tools window to observe network traffic when loading my site. I found that it is attempting to load the crossdomain.xml file (which resides in the root of my web server [/var/www] on the application tier) using a GET request; but strangely, it times out and fails. This is where I am confused. How come I can use lynx on the same machine to connect to the web server on the application tier but yet the flash app can't access the same file?
While running some tests, I decided to open up the application server instance's firewall such that it can receive http requests from my IP. As soon as I did this, the application being hosted on the presentation tier immediately began working (Received a response from the web service)! However, this means I would have to force my application tier to accept http requests from the internet in order to work, which is not something I want to do. I don't understand why making this change would allow the application to grab the crossdomain.xml file. If the application server's security group is set to accept incoming http requests from the presentation security group, it should have no problem acquiring the crossdomain. xml file residing in the web server root of the application server right? I've spent more time than I would like looking into this issue. I really would like to setup a three-tier environment for my application in which the flash application will be able to send web service requests to my application layer. The most confusing part about this is the fact that when I add my computer's IP address to the application server's firewall, everything seems to magically work as intended.
