I have a drop down navigation bar designed in flash and embedded into a html/css based webpage.Is there any action script so that if I click on a link on the flash nav bar and it takes me to a new html page the drop down menu can stay down to reflect which section you are in?I dont want the swf to "refresh" each time, I would like it to remember which drop down you had open after you click a link on the drop down.

The intent is to have the text updated dynamically and the ability to create links in the .txt file that start a gallery in flash in a UILoader. The way I have it right now is that the links open a new page, I need to be able to link to the UILoader and specify a certain gallery to show up.I looked everywhere but I can't seem to understand how to do it. I saw that there was asfucntion but as I saw it's no longer in AC3.Here is the link to the page: go to the events page and you'll see what I currently have. The text on the left is dynamic from a txt file this is the content of the file:[code]I need to change the href to something that will trigger flash to load a specific gallery. I have the UILoader in there now and it gets the file that I need. But it's missing the point all together of being dynamic.I could create a function that gets triggered by the href but I've tried it and don't seem to make it work. I'm no programmer I'm a designer, so this is a little over my head. I've just cracked the door on AC3 when I started this website last week & I feel that I've came a long way, but there is a whole lot more learning to do .

When the middle frame is returned to, clicks no longer change anything. I believe that the actions of the 'left' frame are replacing the one's in the middle frame so then it is told to gotoAndStop to itself.
I'd like to know if that is indeed what is happening and how I can make it stop.
1. Can i put another set of actions in frame 2 of the actions layer?i tested but it doesn't seem to work..it has 836 rows of code and it's getting annoying when tryin to search for a function..
2. I am not that familiar with classes, i usually put all the code into movieclips or in actions layer.. i am not sure if i can call a function from a actionscript class..
3.I am curios if there is any way i could specify an alternative for the if statement like in this pseudocode:

We've got a green screened video playing in a flash movie over top of our html content.when the movie ends, flash uses external interface .api to call a javascript function which swaps the flash movie out with a 5 x 5 pixel flash movie (rewrites the <div>).this works and you can interact with the html content after the flash movie in all browsers except firefox.anyone know of any work-arounds or is there a better way of handling flash over html in this fashion?

View 3 RepliesAfter working fine for about a month, all of a sudden I can't type anything in the Actions box. I can select and enter code snippets, but if I try to edit the code, it disappears. If I start a new Flash file (doesn't matter which Actionscript version, 2.0 or 3.0), the cursor briefly flashes, and then disappears and I can't enter any code in the new file. I can create and edit .as files -- it's only the Actions box for .fla files that's problematic.

At some point I added a new layer called "actions" and typed a simple piece of code in a keyframe (stop) but then I changed my mind and deleted it. But even though now there is no code in my project I still get a very annoying compiler errors window, every time I test my movie. What should I do to get rid of it?

Okay, trying to find a solution to this, I have been searching everywhere. I have a flash project with a grid of images; 3 images tall by 4 images wide. Here's what I want, when you rollover each image, the others get covered up with a larger version of the particular image, no fancy animations or anything like that, it needs to just appear. The problem I am encountering is that the expanded image is part of the rollover so rolling over anywhere the expanded image should be reveals the larger image. So the million dollar question is... how do I make the only active part of the rollover action be the small version of the image
View 3 RepliesI'm creating a header with navigation buttons that are thumbnails of larger images. When a button is moused over I would like a short transition, that spans the entire stage, followed by a display of a larger image of the thumbnail button on the left side of my stage. The transition is constant for each button but the images pertain to specific areas of my site. Basically I'd like to use this mouseover as a visual preview and when then the button is clicked the visitor is taken to that particular section of my site.

I am working on a Flash file and some of the buttons in the document are not working.When I test the movie the hand cursor appears when I hover over the buttons they don't change colour (as specified in the over state) and the actions don't work. Not sure what is going on here as I created other buttons in the same document the same way and they work fine.

How to add symbol definitions there? I managed to create symbols by dragging (for example) items from library on stage and then pressing F8. I can get a reference on them in the Action Layer(frame 1) under Scene1, but i would like to know how to add these under Symbol Definition(s). I was wondering if anyone has came up with a way to float html elements, with some content, over .swf without triggering any flash events.
In my case the problem is I have flash map, and drop down menu on top of it.
I simplified this into the following example:

I was wondering if it is possible to create a flash movie that rotates values that are stored in HTML. For example if i have these 3 containers:

I want to have some flash movie rotate these values every 10 seconds. I don't want to program it hard into flash, it has to be variable. It has to display the first set, then after 10 sec the second, and so on.Maybe if it is possible something that stops the toggle, and skip to just the second, or just the third.I also don't want to use javascript to do this (jQuery etc.), because this conflicts with another timer on the website.Is there a way of doing this?

View 1 RepliesI have a piece of Flash on an HTML page that when you hover over it, it expands out to reveal more information.There are text links that it expands over, however in everything but IE, when it's not expanded those links are still covered by the Flash making them unclickable.I have the Flash piece in a separate DIV wmode set to transparent.

However, for all other pages i.e contact.html aboutus.html we need the animation to skip to the end straight away and not to play the whole animation through. I was thinking this would be controlled by a variable or some kind of external text file ect. Basically in the first frame the actionscript needs to basically say
"if this html page is aboutus.html then go to the last frame and stop" and with the index page it would say "if this html page is index.html then keep playing"

View 1 RepliesFor some reason I can't add ActionScript actions to a timeline frame within a Button Symbol, like I normally would with MovieClip symbols or on the stage. The Actions panel shows this message:"In ActionScript 3.0, code cannot be placed directly on objects. Please select a frame..."even though I definetely have a frame selected.

the think is; in the main timeline im on the frame 1 (animation stoped here), i want to pass to frame 2 but first i play a MC, who is an animation of a black square who covers all the movie that goes from transparent on his own frame 1 going to full opacity in frame 5 and then transparent again in frame 9. Well i want to pass from main frame 1 to frame 2 when the MC animation is exactly on his own frame 5
