Actionscript 2.0 :: Carousel With Buttons - Continued - Move Only When Press A Button

, i want to make a carousel -type gallery like the one from the tutorial but with a slight variation: i want it to move only when i press a button.(move left when i press the left arrow and to the right when i press the right).And i want it to move by one image at a time and i want to know which image is to the front(i've created a dynamic text field called imgName).I hope i'm explaining this correctly and i'm attaching an example with two arrows with no actions on them.

This is what i have to do:
-Place 10 buttons on the screen
-Make 10 objects randomly move as i press each of the buttons.
eg: press button 1, object 1 moves to a random position press button 2, object 2 moves to a random position...

i am doing this: press buttons on screen to move character left or right, "swipe" elsewhere on screen to do other stuff.
This is how i have handled it:
Multitouch.inputMode = MultitouchInputMode.TOUCH_POINT;
stage.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_BEGIN, onTouchBegin);
stage.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_END, onTouchEnd);
buttonContainer.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_ OVER, tOver);
buttonContainer.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_ OUT, tOut);
this works fine, just wondering if anyone has another way to handle it. it seems excessive to have 4 handlers for touch input, but i cant figure out any other way.
TOUCH_OVER and TOUCH_OUT check a switch statement to enable/disable buttons within buttonContainer.
TOUCH_BEGIN and TOUCH_END are used to store points and get a "swipe angle" (only if TOUCH_END is not over a button)
my only problem is i started having glitch's i think becuase so many listeners including: ORIENTATION_CHANGE, KeyboardEvents, Event.DEACTIVATE
this is why i ask if perhaps im missing someway to simplify the touch input listeners

I got a character to move. I want the player to be able to move the character to a button then press spacebar on it. Which will take them to another frame.
This is the code I got for the button but the trouble is u can press spacebar anywhere to go to the next frame.

I'm trying to make a series of images move on button press. The first will appear on the stage when the pages loads. There will be a next button which will make the current image move off to the left of the stage and the next move in to the stage from the right and stop in the center. There are about 10 images.
I also have to do the same to another page but with text and moving in vertically instead of horizontally. I have posted this at the bottom (as the images one is too big to post). Although this version is the one I did with tweens that did'nt work, you can have a play with it if you like?

i have a few buttons that use loadmovienum to load a few clips into levels. The code on each button is something similar to:
on(release){ loadMovieNum("print_index.swf",1);printbutton._visible = false;webbutton._visible = false;illusbutton._visible = false;threedbutton._visible = false;retouchbutton._visible = false;}
But because the print_index movie slowly scrolls across the stage rather than immediately replace it, there is a moment where the button turns completely invisible after the click. Perhaps the bigger problem is that it doesnt make any of the accompanying buttons invisible like it is supposed to- only the one that is clicked.

I am trying to make a light comparison chart where the lights can be turned on inividually by the user and one can be compared to another depending on which of the 6 lights you want to view.So far i have managed to make this work with 5 lights over 33 layers and diffferent buttons and different handlers for each of the buttons on each layer but as soon as the 4 and 5 light come into play everything slows down struggles and sometimes gives up.Is there a simple way of doing this which i am unaware of.I am currently using the gotoandstop comand to go to a specific frame based on the button press.

all the tutorials for movement in actionscript seem to use the onclipeven(on enter) as well as only refer to movie clips. so this is what i want to do in the simplest sense.RedButton is starts at position RedA. If you click it on position RedA, it moves to position B. If you click it on Position B, it moves to Position C. If you click on position C, it goes back to B.
I basically want a 7 buttons to move around using actionscript. They each have a their own "home" spot as well as 2 "shared" spots where the active button will sit. i tried a simple function similar to:

So theres obviously a huge mistake in my logic because it doesnt work at all, not the mention i dont get any movement, just kinda...teleporting buttons, which is not what i want.

I'm stuck with why this carousel menu will not move - its done in the same way the carousel is made on gotoAndLearn - I'm using Flash MX if that makes any difference and I've attached the .fla file.

Which event must I pick?
I assume it's something like: stage.addEventListener(Keyboard., but after that I don't know what to do.

the part i am trying to create is the non-moving buttons. when u click on it, it brings the content up and when u click on the icon it goes back to the carosel (rotating menu) how do i create that?bascially it should do the same action as the carousel buttons do.i have already created the carousel and the text buttons but i just th linking the text buttons to the content, the content is inside a movieclip.

well i want to make buttons that on rollover move to left, on rollout move back to their initial position, and if clicked, they but stay this time at the final rollover place, and be there until something else is clicked. When something else is clicked, the previous button , returns to its initial place. So i ve got it all figured out except for the freeze and move part when the buttons are clicked. All it does now , is when they are clicked they freeze at the position i want, but i havent got a clue how to update them, after so they start moving back, and reacting on rollover and rollout, when the next button is clicked.

I want a prev / next buttons that brings the one of the carousel images to the center of the stage. Then when clicked again, it moves to the next one. I know that I have to have a code in my button release that checks the focus of the icon and brings it to the center if clicked. I have my buttons in place and everything is working great except calling the next icon over.

Problem: although I'm embedding Helvetica Neue 75 Bold, flash displays Helvetica 55 Roman. note that it's not Helvetica Neue 55 Roman, but Helvetica 55 Roman. So a completely different Font family that I don't even happen to have installed.
I'm assigning text to a dynamic textfield using myField.text = "My text that I added dynamically.". Once this is done, if you examine the myField.htmlText property you will notice that Flash has added a bunch of crap:
<TEXTFORMAT LEADING="2"><P ALIGN="LEFT"><FONT FACE="Helvetica 55 Roman" SIZE="20" COLOR="#000000" LETTERSPACING="0" KERNING="0">My text that I added dynamically.</FONT></P></TEXTFORMAT>
Notice in particular the <FONT FACE...> tag which is what I believe is causing the problem - it's hard-coding the Helvetica 55 Roman font in there. Where the heck is that even coming from? And more to the point, how to get rid of it?Before you suggest a RegExp, I tried that and it doesn't work. I can strip out the <FONT> tag, but when you then re-apply the new string and trace out the .htmlText property again, that <FONT> tag is back!

I am having trouble with a job I am doing at the moment which has an mc with buttons within it. I want it so that when I roll over the mc it tweens from a small version to a larger version, and on this mc there are some buttons. At the moment I can get the mc to move but the buttons remain inactive and also the rollover states on the buttons don't work. I have attached a simpler version of what I am trying to do to this post.

I'm creating a menu system, the text buttons should, on rollover, move all buttons to the left (of the button currently rolled over) 100 pixels, in the gap created a sub menu running vertically will appear which will break into a 2nd horizontal submenu etc. I'm still in the early stages, and have hit a stumbling block, I placed a trace (this); cmd in root of the roll over function then again in each segement of the IF/ELSE loop inside that fuction. The trace CMD in the root of the rollover gives me the feed back _level0.btn1 or 2 or what ever button I have rolled over but the ones inside the IF/ELSE loop all say _level0.btn0 regardless of the button I roll over!

I'm trying to figure out how to get buttons to be activated by keyboard presses. I have found how to do that with specific keys ... but not with ANY keypress. I'm making a game for tiny children and they can't manipulate the mouse well. So I'm setting up a few things on stage that will run in a certain order when the child presses any key on the keyboard. For example, any key is pressed, dog wags his tail .... any key is pressed again, cat jumps, any key is pressed a third time, cow munches hay, and so on till it goes through a bunch of animal animations, then goes back to the first one. I'm pretty new at this stuff and have been banging my head against google for days trying to find the answer to this out there with no luck! I could do either movieclips or movie clips inside buttons if that makes sense.

still progressing with the rotating menu, I am trying change the values so that I can position correctly but I can't seem to tweak it? as the menu rotates the other images resize and get smaller, I think its somewhere within the script that is doing this, I would like it not to resize as it rotates away from center. but I can't seem to find what is making it do this? is this making any sense, i have been changing these values, but not quite working; values I have been looking at on the circleMenu.as at line 38
