Actionscript 3.0 :: Create A Basic Flash File With A Little Plane
Jul 5, 2009
I want to create a basic flash file with a little plane that is constantly flying. It never stops just keeps on moving. Now it would be fairly simple to do that but i want to be able to rotate the plane using the arrow keys. Once the plan is rotated I want the plane to fly in the direction of the rotation.
I could easily keep increasing the planes x value but that will make it fly only to the right I want to be able to make the plane fly freely.
I am trying to create a basic flash script to load an external swf file using MovieClipLoader class. Here's my code:
var myMCL:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); var myListener:Object = new Object(); myMCL.addListener(myListener); myMCL.loadClip("splash.swf",5);
I simply copied it from a tutorial. Unfortunately it throws an error message as follows:
1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MovieClipLoader 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method.
PS: I have CS3 professional in my machine but I am following Flash 8 book. But my CS3 application supports AS1, 2 and 3.
I'm trying to create a basic interaction between flash and ASP.net v1.1.In flash code I'm using the LoadVars function and on asp.net page I'm using "Response.write" to return the value to flash.I have a flash button which send the load to the asp.net.(meaning the first time I click the button , the asp.net page is called and return the value , but the second time nothing happens!)
Here is my code:
FLASH: ---------------
Code: function doCheck() { checkSessID = new LoadVars(); checkSessID.onLoad = function (serverIsOnline)
[code]....
The first time in click on the flash button the doCheck() function is called and the sendResponse function (which is in the "IMService.aspx") return the value to flash.Then , when clicking the second time on the button , nothing happens.
I kind of understand how to create a basic username and password 'menu' in flash.[code]But I would like to create a menu where a user can create a new username with then will be added to an exteral file ( data base I guess).From there on anything the user does is remembered on that name. And if that user exits the program and loads it again the user's stats are loaded.
I'm working on a new project, its a side scrolling game where an airplane (user) has to shoot down a bunch of other enemy planes. how to create an AS to shoot lasers from the nose of the plane
i'm a newbie using Flash CS4 and AS3. A retired social worker, I need to create a basic Flash drawing tool for an eLearning project to teach students how to draw their family tree.
The drawing tool would allow the students to add multiple circles and squares to symbolize their family members, plus text labels for names, ages, and they would need to be able to draw connecting lines between the circle and square symbols. Finally, in order to continue work on the drawing, over time, they would need to be able to save their drawings to be re-opened and edited (add new symbols, erase incorrect ones, etc.). Once the drawing is completed, they would need to be able to print a copy.
Being a newbie (but I have done some related scripting: JavaScripting-ECMA-262, HTML, CSS), I am not sure if this can be done in AS3, Flash CS4. But, if it is possible, I would like to learn how to create this.
I am trying to create a standard production of visual basic system, on Flash CS5. It's an interactive system made in Flash, but the house style is as of Visual Basic. I have almost completed the project however I am finding it difficult to:-
a) If the user types into textboxes in one stage on flash, it should appear down on another screen on another textbox, simultaneously.
b) How to validate textboxes in flash so that the user can only type in certain characters, for example the user would fill in the textboxes when asked about coding in visual basic. At the end of the screen by clicking next it would check the textboxes and if the characters are incorrect it would display an error message, and if correct proceed to the next screen.
This coding is the closes't i got to solving my problem about validation, I have also read a number of ActionScript books but no luck there. I have also searched the net but could not find what i am looking for, all i got was validating using passwords from parameters.
I'm trying (and failing it seems) to teach myself Action script and I'm having a really tough time with what I'm sure is something that quite easy to do. Basically I have one button. When this button is pressed I'd like it play a movie. When the button is pressed again I'd like to stop playing the movie. In the first frame of the movie I've put a stop action so that it doesn;t repeat itself when it finishes playing. In the last frame of the movie I've put gotoAndStop(2);In my main timeline I have 2 layers each of which has one frame. The button is one layer and the movie on the other.
I selected the button on the stage and gave it the actionscript on (press){ gotoAndPlay("vcsound_mc.play(2)");
I am creating a movie, and need to create alink to open a web page. My movie exists in a folder ("Flash") and I need to move up a level(out of that folder), and into another folder, (HTML) where the page I need to open resides. What would the path name need to be ie: ..HTML/default.html?
I'm in the process of learning OOP and have run into a small problem. I'm trying to create a basic menu system where you can rollover and rollout of all links. When you select a link, it stays highlighted until you click another link.I've given the 5 links instance names like (link0, link1, link2, link3, link4) and given them each an ID of (0,1,2,3,4) - respectively. I used to be able to do something like this:
im trying to create a basic spaceship flying game and the first problem ive got is controlling the ship.the controls i need are thrust and left-rotate and right-rotate. much like this,[URL]..at the start this tut mentions 'game control tutorials' does anyone know where these are? i think i would find these useful. the above tut doesnt go into scripting.
I have a 2d plane rotated on its x axis, with 2d display objects I want to move around on the plane. Its pretty similar to a chess board [URL]..
The board is a rotated rectangle, and the pieces are just 2d display objects. Whats the easiest way to manipulate those objects so they appear to be moving on the board?
don't know what trigger this on my Flash CS4, suddenly i cant see any object on my stage it just plane background and i can change its color, but when i start to draw i can see the initial drawing but when i release the mouse the object is gone, try to test the movie and the object is there. i try to close the program and open again but still the same until i discover that this behavior happen when my publish setting is set to action script 3.0 changing it to 2.0 and the problem goes away. i did not encounter this kind of behavior with as3 before.
I have a Plane and I try tweening a MovieClipSprite on it. I run into trouble when I try to tween near the points where both segment triangles meet (I have kept both segments as 1), While moving near these points the Sprite disappears. I can tell it goes beneath the Plane because when it reappears it does so gradually and I can see it's lower half appearing as it moves away from these points. Increasing the segments obviously deteriorates the performance further as this begins to happen at other points as well. I am pasting some relevant code var planeMaterial:BitmapMaterial = new BitmapMaterial(texture.bitmapData, {smooth: true, precision: 4});
I am using a trial version of CS5, and I'm wondering if this is the cause of my issue, but wouldn't think so.I am trying to display a video in a basic HTML file created in Dreamweaver.I am using flash to generate the .swf file to be embedded.I used the media encoder to convert the video file I have from .avi to .f4v.This all seems to work just fine and when I test the html file locally it works.The issue I have is when I load the files on a web server for further testing, it plays the video, but there are no controls visible on the page for the video.As stated above, they display correctly when I run this locally.I have also loaded the skin.swl file on the server in the same location as I have it locally.I have tried everything I can think of to try and can not get the controls to display while deployed on my web server.
I know how to get basic xml into flash, but I'm having a problem with a particular set up of xml. The sample below, I can get into flash but am having trouble manipulating it and getting the various bits of data into a format I can manipulate.
Waht is the right way to get 3D coords from 2D mouse coords using Away3D. (version 3.6.0) It's ambigoius problem in general, so there is restriction that 3D point belongs to some fixed plane.
There are some examples with camera.unproject and plane.getIntersectionLineNumbers methods, but they don't work if camera is rotated or plane is not trivial.
I would like to have a third party exchange english language text in a swf file with translation-text in other languages. They would like to do it via XML. Is there a place where I can look up some basic info on how to write XML code (beginner), or find a script that lets me exchange text/content via XML?
I'm creating my first Flash website using AS3, and it's really basic. I would like to put in a contact form, which I have made. I've converted the 3 fields (name_field, email_field and message_field) to a symbol (movie) called 'form'. I've also got a send button, which is called send_btn.
I've set up the Action Script so that when the button is clicked, the user is taken to a confirmation-style page. All I want to do is called a php script (I'm comfortable with the code for that) called 'mailer.php' and send the three variables from the form to it before then loading the confirmation page.
What is a good structure for a complete Flash website. ex.
1) Index.swf ( which is just a container and loader for the actual SWF site content)
2) Main.swf (the main content of the site that gets loaded in by Index.swf)
Should the index.swf load in several SWF's , like navigation file , news reel file , etc....Also , if anyone know of a web site that has this information or knows of a book that covers this material ,
Id like to make a graphical editor with flash that has some basic features like copying and moving files, and editing text-files.The editor is to be used exclusively offline.I know that AS doesnt provide such functionality, but perhaps its possible with some backend script that doesnt require any installs (like php does)?Javascript, perhaps? Does it have the power to edit files etc?
Everything I read about xml & flash gets all complicated - arrays, galleries, mp3 players etc. Does anyone have an example of the most basic xml - flash integration? I just want to import a text title, a jpg image & a text description that can be changed remotely once a month - nothing tricky...
i know how to program in vb.net, and have little problems switching to action script. the only problem im having is that i dont know where to type my code. in visual basic there were events that you would type into. does any one who knows Vb know what im talking about? i get the whole convert to symbol stuff just not where im supposed to type
I want to start basic. Are there any tutorials or samples where I can make a simple flash website with 1 pic and 1 text content in there and be able to change it like in a CMS system using whatever methods are best php, xml, asp. Maybe using PHP or whatever is the standard for Flash CMS at the moment. How to make a simple content management Flash site starting from there. Where an admin logs in and then change the content for the pic and the text.
how to navigate through the Main timeline using the arrow keys!I know its probably been asked (and covered) a thousand times, so sorry in advance.And yes, of course i've googled it but every piece of code i try seems to error :C
So, just to re-cap, i'm trying to display whats on frame 2 when say, key 40 (right arrow key, i think) is pressed, then return to frame 1 on release, if that makes sense.
I've started using the 3D capabilities of Flash CS4 recently, particularly with respect to transforming the rotation and translation properties of movie clips with AS3. Which is fine for planar shapes, but I want to know how to create true 3D objects that I can similarly manipulate. The problem is, that although there are plenty of excellent tutorials covering simple changes in X, Y and Z properties, there seems to be a distinct lack of tutorials explaining in simple terms how to go about creating, say, a basic cube that can be displayed and transformed dynamically. Adobe's Flash CS4 files mention perspective projection and the Matrix3D object, but I don't find these section particularly clear. What I would like to do, for starters, is create a simple cube to which I can apply x, y and z axis transformations in the same way I can to movie clips.
I'm new to the forums and fairly new to action-script also,Generally such basic things are a breeze, but i can't for the life of me figure out how to navigate through the Main timeline using the arrow keys;And yes, of course i've googled it but every piece of code i try seems to error.So, just to re-cap, i'm trying to display whats on frame 2 when say, key 40 (right arrow key, i think) is pressed, then return to frame 1 on release, if that makes sense.
I was just wondering if anyone out there has had any luck trying to get a flash app to talk to either a visual basic or c++ application? I need to build a player [flash embeded into the vb or c++ application] that when the user say, pushes a button, calls a function or action from within the app. Any Idea How would I go about this?
