Jan 18, 2011Having got into flash about a year ago, I have a fairly good understanding of as3, but I have never had any reason to learn as2. For an upcoming project, we were looking to use Scaleform GFx, with the UDK. (Unreal Development Kit) Trouble is, Scaleform only supports as2. From what I've been told, as3 is supposed to be better in just about every way, so I really don't want to learn a language that?s most likely on the way out, if I have any other options.
Is there any converters out there, that can convert script from as3 to as2? Or another workaround possibility, since flash communicates with the UDK by means of just calling a function, could I create an as2 file that could dynamically load an as3 file?

Oct 14, 2009I asked this earlier but maybe I didn't give enough information. I am working on a website where video quality is very important and the client is delivering me the video already compressed. I then want to import it to flash CS3 and export it as .flv for progressive download with the media playback component. I have done all of this successfully in a sense that it all works but the video quality is not good enough, it's good but the client says it;s a bit grainy. I used the highest setting in Flash, on2 vp6 at 700kbs.
My question is what is the best file format (.mov etc) and what settings should the client use, so I can create the highest quality .flv export from their .mov file? Second question, I used an 8 second buffer but now the client is saying they don't want it to buffer at all. What are the other options besides progressive download, I have never delved into this before?

It says "Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long. I checked the files and neither the destination file nor the drive locked. The file is named index and always has been named that. What am I doing wrong?

Dec 29, 2010I'm currently building a create-your-own t-shirt application using AS3. My client needs the resulting design as an Adobe Illustrator file for printing. Is there a way to dynamically create an AI file from your Flash app? The only solution I have been able to come up with is recreating the design in a special version of the app that only the client has access to (the app would automatically load and create what the customer designed). This version of the app uses PrintJob to create a printable version of the design that the client saves to a PDF and then opens in Illustrator. It works, but as you can see, it's a messy process and creates additional steps for the client.

May 4, 2011I'm trying to create a flash app that has 2 things inside. An InputTextBox which is called txt_userinput and a Button called btn_submit.
Bascially, the user just need to type in some word in the InputTextBox and press btn_submit. The data will then be sent to a testing.TXT in my DESKTOP. My .FLA file is in MY DOCUMENTS while the testing.TXT is in my DESKTOP.
Question 1: Question is, how do I make the data from txt_userinput to be sent to the .TXT in my DESKTOP?
For example, the user typed "Hello, how are you?" in the InputTextBox. In the .TXT file, I want it to show "Hello, how are you?".
PS: testing.TXT file is already created in the desktop, just waiting for flash to write the data in and keeps on adding more data in the future in the following format.[code]...

Nov 8, 2011I created a swf file for one my clients using a screen size of 1024px x 768px (4:3 ratio), now my client wants to re-use the video in a bigger screen (TV) that still uses a 4:3 ratio but the screen size is considerably bigger (I do not have the exact size yet). Do I need to recreate the flash file using images that fit the new screen size, or the fact that they both use a 4:3 aspect ratio means that the image quality will not suffer?

Jul 5, 2009I want to create a basic flash file with a little plane that is constantly flying. It never stops just keeps on moving. Now it would be fairly simple to do that but i want to be able to rotate the plane using the arrow keys. Once the plan is rotated I want the plane to fly in the direction of the rotation.
I could easily keep increasing the planes x value but that will make it fly only to the right I want to be able to make the plane fly freely.
