Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
I presume there's something else I need to add to the XML syntax.

If you have an .as file in the global include directory do you have to upload it to your server with the flash file or does it compile the flash file with the included info?
View 2 RepliesI have done some coding in the past in .asp .aspx, but it is not my primary forte. I am working on a site that has a page for project photo galleries, and have been following a lot of the tutorials from this site. I have a directory structure as follows:
root folder (containing projects.swf) --> projects directory --> project1 directory(containing image files, thumbnail images, and images.xml)
For testing purposes, in projects.fla, and resulting projects.swf, I have:

how to code projects.fla with the correct path to the .xml file in the <root>projectsproject1 directory, and ideally, a way to make it dynamic so I can pass the path to the projects.swf file using a variable, and be able to direct the movie to use the intended xml file, thumbnails, and images based on the press of a button contained in a projects menu. Unless I have missed something, all of the tutorials I saw had the images and .xml file in the same directory as the .swf.
is there a way to verify that an image file exists at the stated URL before passing that URL to various URLmethods?
View 0 RepliesAt my job I frequently have to create Flash banners for major newspaper's websites. The specs that usually come in require a max file size of 30k or so. Usually my art department will hand me 3 or 4 screens that they want to simply move through in a loop. No biggie, until they start adding images to the files.
When I complain to them that the images are making the file sizes too big I am usually queried as to how other advertisers on these sites have full video in their ads. I understand that there are pre-loaders as well as allowed larger file sizes if you pay more for the ads.
getting image sizes down in Flash so that the images don't end up looking horrible?

I purchased template and trying to edit it, there is page called portfolio i managed to make it load images from external files, but when trying to do same for text description no success. I tried different techniques i found online, but none work, only work when i place textbox on main scene but never works when i place it on Portfolio page 3 (click portfolio button then click page 3) to go there in flash find "scroll2_4" page trough library right click and chose edit. I need to load description from text for items on that page. Unfortunately, I get: "1065: Variable Thing is not defined".The way I fixed this was by writing: getDefinitionByName("src.Objects.Thing"). However, this seems like a cumbersome solution. I would really like to be able to exclude the path when calling getDefinitionByName.

View 8 RepliesDue to decisions out of my control I've created a iPad app by way of a CS5.5 Flash build and using the 'Air for iOS' publish.
In the 'Air for iOS' settings I've included a file. The issue I'm having is in trying to call the file and not knowing what the path is.
I'm hoping this is a case where files added in this manner are placed in a consistent location.
Is that the case? And if so, what would the path be?
I am trying to develop an android extension for air, but I have a problem with resources.According to this : Official adobe doc - FREContext and this Extending AIR by Oliver Goldman We simply have to add the resources we need in the res file of the Native part, then they are added inside the .ane file and passed to the final apk. In order to access them though we have to use getResourceId( "drawable.background_image" ) instead of R.drawable.background_image
But when I generate my extension, the res file is actually not even included anywhere inside the .ane file and also not inside the final apk. And I have found not a single extension on the net using resources (not even in the adobe samples)For this test I simply use the basic Hello world Vibrate test, but I added a new png in the drawable folder.As you can see while unziping the .ane file, then going to META-INF/ANE/Android-ARM the res file is absent.As a result, the program crashes when I try to access my resource FREContext.getResourceId("drawable.ppy_accessory_manage.png")

So, I'm looking for a tool (most likely Flash) that I can easily integrate into a web site and lets users add text and custom images to their cards and then create an image and/or PDF from their work.

I need to create an image gallery, based on an XML file, which displays both the thumbnails and the normal-sized images. Here's a link for you to get an idea of pretty much what I want to achieve, except for the fact that I don't want the thumbnails to slide to the left or right, I'd rather want them to be static, and if there are more thumbnails than, let's say 3, to display a "previous-next" controller. So far, so good, the script does trace what I told it to But I need to further improve this rather simple script. So, basically here's what I need:How do I load each thumbnail into a "container" movieclip, so I can further manipulate this movieclip's properties (do an easing for position, alpha, filters etc.)? There's one more thing I need to specify: I want to display only, let's say, 3 thumbnails at runtime, not all of them. how could I assign an instance name to each of them.

View 1 RepliesHaving got into flash about a year ago, I have a fairly good understanding of as3, but I have never had any reason to learn as2. For an upcoming project, we were looking to use Scaleform GFx, with the UDK. (Unreal Development Kit) Trouble is, Scaleform only supports as2. From what I've been told, as3 is supposed to be better in just about every way, so I really don't want to learn a language that?s most likely on the way out, if I have any other options.
Is there any converters out there, that can convert script from as3 to as2? Or another workaround possibility, since flash communicates with the UDK by means of just calling a function, could I create an as2 file that could dynamically load an as3 file?
I asked this earlier but maybe I didn't give enough information. I am working on a website where video quality is very important and the client is delivering me the video already compressed. I then want to import it to flash CS3 and export it as .flv for progressive download with the media playback component. I have done all of this successfully in a sense that it all works but the video quality is not good enough, it's good but the client says it;s a bit grainy. I used the highest setting in Flash, on2 vp6 at 700kbs.
My question is what is the best file format (.mov etc) and what settings should the client use, so I can create the highest quality .flv export from their .mov file? Second question, I used an 8 second buffer but now the client is saying they don't want it to buffer at all. What are the other options besides progressive download, I have never delved into this before?
For some reason I am unable to create a FLV file from a MP4 file with high bitrate. I even created a custom setting and specified bitrate as 2500 but the output file is always around 775.
