ActionScript 2.0 :: Unable To Create Basic Button To Play Movie?

I'm trying (and failing it seems) to teach myself Action script and I'm having a really tough time with what I'm sure is something that quite easy to do. Basically I have one button. When this button is pressed I'd like it play a movie. When the button is pressed again I'd like to stop playing the movie. In the first frame of the movie I've put a stop action so that it doesn;t repeat itself when it finishes playing. In the last frame of the movie I've put gotoAndStop(2);In my main timeline I have 2 layers each of which has one frame. The button is one layer and the movie on the other.
I selected the button on the stage and gave it the actionscript

I edited a video and am trying to just throw it up as a basic flash video for an April Fools Joke but it's not working for some reason.

It will play just fine when I demo it on my own computer but when I upload it to a web server it doesn't work anymore. It shows that there is a Flash object. When I right click on the object it gives me the normal "Zoom In" and "Quality" buttons, but the movie itself doesn't play. And I do have the html file and the swf file in the same folder and it is named movie.swf. There is no other html code in this webpage than the above.

Bit new to this and have been searching the adobe forums and google. I am trying to create a button that will play an imported MovieClip.I have a movie clip that I've imported into it's own layer (Layer1) Frame 1 I've given the MovieClip an instance name offoundationMovie.I've created a button and have that on its own layer(Layer2) above layer1, it is also in Frame 1.I've added a top (); action to layer2The video is not set to autoplay.I want the video to start playing when the viewer clicks the button. I know I've got to put some kind of event listener using AS3 in my timeline somewhere.I've found some code and I've been trying to work with it. I'm sure I've mutilated it beyond usability but this is what I've got.

Flash CS4/Actionscript 3 I am trying to create a section for a site where mousing over a button will play a certain frame of a movie clip, which is sitting next to the button. Mousing over different buttons will play (and stop) different frames in the movie clip.

I am doing an interactive display for school and it includes 2 games and 5 movies.I have it all set up the way I want it, but I have a HUGE problem, my movies will not play!! I am using 2 different codes, one for the games and one for the movies, they are below:
Games Code: loadMovie("filename.swf" , 1);
Movie Code: container.loadMovie("filename.swf");
The movie code has worked before, but for some reason it is not working now! If ya'll have a different code for uploading .swf games and movies ! These are all being uploaded and I am navigating them through by buttons and those seem to work great! Another thing, I have it set at 2 fps but some things get cut out because it goes too fast, but if I slow it down anymore the games won't work.

I've got a basic little slide show player which is timeline-based, rolling through 5 images with alpha transitions, and on the topmost layer, I have 5 invisible movie clips which have actions applied to them as follows:
on (press) { gotoAndPlay(21);}
This action should allow for the on click button to navigate to that specific frame, or image, but for some reason it is not working.

I have five different scenes all including three different buttons. When I test the buttons in "play scene" - all buttons sounds correctly in all scenes. But when I play movie, there is sound only with one button (the same button in every scene). I have looked for differences, but this button seem to have all the same parameters as the others.

i have a heavy flash movie (10mb) and im trying to play it with VB. when i run it with VB, the flash movie became slow, when playing it with flash movie alone, it's good. is there any way to play flashmovie in Visual basic keeping the quality 100%?is there any visual basic.net version tutorials around?

I work with Flash Pro allmost 11 hours per day and every while i get a error which messes up everything. Approximetly i get this after about 2-3 hours withevery project.After i get this error there is no chance to test movies afterwards.I see a fast flash of the loader window but it dissapears so fast i cant even really see if it is loader.

I'm trying to create a basic interaction between flash and ASP.net v1.1.In flash code I'm using the LoadVars function and on asp.net page I'm using "Response.write" to return the value to flash.I have a flash button which send the load to the asp.net.(meaning the first time I click the button , the asp.net page is called and return the value , but the second time nothing happens!)

The first time in click on the flash button the doCheck() function is called and the sendResponse function (which is in the "IMService.aspx") return the value to flash.Then , when clicking the second time on the button , nothing happens.

Well as the title says I need to create an Play/Pause button in one. So when I click on the button it plays my animation, then when I click on it again it pauses it. And then when I click on it again it plays the animation where it was. etc. etc.
I know how to create a simple button and give it an event and an function, but I cant figure out how to get those 2 functions together in one?

I have made a button by creating a new symbol naming it and setting it as a button. Then I have edited the four frames to my liking. Then I added it to a layer on my timeline by dragging it from the library.
I have looked at other tutorials on youtube and such, but all the code etc doesnt seem to work. I use Flash CS5.Once I have created the button, what should I do to make it stop the animation at the beggining, and play when it is pressed.

how to create a button to pause/play a FLV?I have an FLV with cue points (using the FLVPlayback component). The cue points are controlling when graphics are added to some empty movieclips on the stage. The FLVPlayback component skins would work but they are hidden by graphics on higher layers.I'm using CS4, Flash Player 8 and AS 2.0.

I want to create a basic flash file with a little plane that is constantly flying. It never stops just keeps on moving. Now it would be fairly simple to do that but i want to be able to rotate the plane using the arrow keys. Once the plan is rotated I want the plane to fly in the direction of the rotation.
I could easily keep increasing the planes x value but that will make it fly only to the right I want to be able to make the plane fly freely.

I am trying to create a code to have a "play" button on the middle of the screen that disappears after clicking and at the same time have a play/pause/runtime toolbar on bottom that appears only oh hover. My video is in .swf and .flv and can be converted to whatever's necessary for FLash CS4. There is a downloadable file "example" on this board (http:url....)which accomplishes exactly what I'm searching for.I couldn't attach the example file to this message as Adobe blocks some of their own file types.(don't know why)I tried to embed my video into this code but have failed.

I kind of understand how to create a basic username and password 'menu' in flash.[code]But I would like to create a menu where a user can create a new username with then will be added to an exteral file ( data base I guess).From there on anything the user does is remembered on that name. And if that user exits the program and loads it again the user's stats are loaded.

I am trying to create a standard production of visual basic system, on Flash CS5. It's an interactive system made in Flash, but the house style is as of Visual Basic. I have almost completed the project however I am finding it difficult to:-
a) If the user types into textboxes in one stage on flash, it should appear down on another screen on another textbox, simultaneously.
b) How to validate textboxes in flash so that the user can only type in certain characters, for example the user would fill in the textboxes when asked about coding in visual basic. At the end of the screen by clicking next it would check the textboxes and if the characters are incorrect it would display an error message, and if correct proceed to the next screen.
This coding is the closes't i got to solving my problem about validation, I have also read a number of ActionScript books but no luck there. I have also searched the net but could not find what i am looking for, all i got was validating using passwords from parameters.

I'd like to create a stopwatch that starts at 00:00 when a play button is pressed, and then stops whenever the stop button is pressed. After the stop button is pressed, I would like the time to be displayed on the next frame, and say something like "You pressed the stop button in x". I'm using flash CS3...so actionscript 2.
