I am creating a textbutton using actionscript. the code is given below.

Now i want the click event of this button to be handled in my event handler function only. It should not navigate away to the 'href' source given upon clicking. How can i achieve that.
I used flash banner at html page in a iframe. But when I clicked at another navigation link (like index to contact page). flash reloads. & it takes time for low bandwidth user. Is there any solution that, i can go at any page without refresh whole page...(not reload flash). I don't want to reload flash when I click at another link.
View 1 RepliesClient has a flash navigation menu on his website. When the site is accessed via [URL] the hardcoded links in the flash nav load pages properly. When accessing the website via the [url] the site navigation links can not load the proper pages and instead just redirect the user to the root domain.
I assume this can be fixed with a change to the .htaccess but I do not know how flash handles these links.

View 1 RepliesNormally I'd not post my questions in this forum but this is a exeption .Anyway how can i prevent the menu from showing up when right clicking the mouse button in flash runtime?EDIT: I learned that it's not possible to completely hide it in as3, but it's possible in as2 though, or when using html. You however can hide everythng in that list except for "settings" and "show redraw regions"

I didn't know how to bring a link in the datagrid. So used the Text control to display the "View" label. Now If I click this item, "View" in the datagrid, I want the Pop up function, i.e.,defectCommentsPopUp() to be called.
Is it possible to create anchor links in text within a scrollpane. I created text with a list of questions at the top of the list and answers at the bottom of the list. I want to be able to click on a question and jump down the list to the answer within the scrollpane. Similar to anchor links in html.
View 2 RepliesHere's the deal: I have a dynamic textbox on stage containing htmlText populated from an xml file. The text contains a hyperlink created by an anchor tag who's href attribute calls an actionscript function. When the link is rolled over and rolled out, the line break changes if the text is extremely close to the right edge of the textbox.As far as I know the problem has something to with autoSize being true and the font being embedded. I believe when you rollover the link in the htmlText, the autoSize causes the text to be redrawn and somehow this time it breaks it instead of letting it go right up to the edge of the textbox.
Originally I had solved this problem by first calculating the height of the textbox with autoSize on, then turning autoSize off and setting the height manually. As I said this worked for years but, alas, it is doing it again.Just to make sure I turned autoSize back on and practically every screen with a hyperlink did have the same problem so turning autoSize off definitely fixed it, at least 99.9% of the time.I can quick fix it by changing the width of the textbox, even 1px so that the last word of the culprit line isn't so close to the edge. However, I am wondering, has anyone ever run into this problem before? Also, it would be nice to know the actual cause of the problem rather than just using work-arounds.
I have several AS3 flash movies embedded in html pages, and for whatever reason, when you tab through the page, when you get into the flash movie, you can't tab out. The tab just goes in a loop through the tabindex of the swf.
Is there a way that you can add a button or a little script in the swf, set it to the last in the taborder, and then make it set the focus on the page to a link/div/id/anchor in the html, (outside the swf)

My navigation buttons reside on a "global content" layer which sits below a "sections content" layer..... and there IS content above these buttons on that layer. I'd try re-arranging the layers and testing the movie, but I am not at home right now... and I was curious to see what some of you might think before I got back home tonight.

When you click on a menu item to switch to another page the embedded swf's reload the home page again until they stop playing. View 4 RepliesAfter moving from Windows XP to Windows 7 noticed this behavior in my Flex application. In IE8 when a user clicks on a link in the SWF file it uses the navigateToUrl api to open a new window pointing to an external site. This works as expected in XP on IE8 . However in Windows 7 clicking the link will open a new tab, this new tab however sits in the background therefore it is possible that it may not be noticed by the user. Also the content in this background tab does not always load fully unless you clear the cache. Has anyone come across this issue with Flex and Windows7/IE8? In the navigateToUrl function i pass in a param of _blank.

Making buttons that open another url is easy enough, but for some reason I'm having a huge amount of trouble having a navigation button open new content on my website, such as moving from the Home content to the Menu content (the layout is static, only one small section filled with content changes.
I think the issue is that I can't figure out how to code it due to the fact that there are a good amount of nested movie clips, I'm not sure how to direct it to the place and frame I want.

I installed a flash template. It has navigation buttons with a nice roll-over effect. The buttons are all located within a symbol called "menu" (it is a Movie Clip type symbol, not a Button type). Each individual button in the menu appear to be in its own separate layer, so the first button is in a layer called "item1, second button in "item2", and so on. I want to edit the link for the fourth button so it goes to another website but I can't seem to find the code to edit the link. I managed to find

and this does work - upon pressing the button it goes to the website link. However, there is no more roll-over effect for this button. So there has to be an alternative or better way to editing the link for this button (without removing the roll-over effect).

edit: Resolved; my ActionScript function for parsing the mySQL results didn't correctly interpret a recently modified column, and the corrupted new output happened to be identical to the old output.
I have created an application that accesses a PHP/mySQL database, but it caches old information.
I used the workaround from Adobe's website, where I append '+ new Date().getTime()' to the URLRequest String, but the application continues to use the old data.
When I trace the URLRequest String and C&P it into a browser window, however, I receive the correct data.
Basically I have some TLF text as a symbol, it's read only, the font is embedded and I set mouseEnabled to false. It's sitting as a graphic, on top of a button. When I mouse over the text, or the area where the text would be, it prevents the button from receiving the on mouse over event. Using classic, dynamic text, this route normally works just fine. Any ideas what could be causing the problem?
