I've been tasked with building an AIR for iOS application.Everything is going pretty smooth, there's just one thing I can't seem to get right.I need to make some changes to the application descriptor xml(<key>UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend</key><true/> so the application will exit properly i/o suspending)... easy right? Problem is: every time I press 'publish', flash overwrites my xml and packages the ipa file with it's own xml.

We're developing an socketserver who should receive xml. our specification said, a xml stream starts with <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><logmsg> and end with </logmsg> Now, i try to add the XML-declaration line to my XML-Object, without success. A own written socket monitor shows only the <logmsg></logmsg>-Nodes. Also trace show similiar informations. Is it possible to add the xml-declaration to an XML-Object overall?
I have four movieclips on the stage. They can be dragged around. I have a class that creates a segment from two points, and returns the x-intercept, y-intercept, slope, and inverse slope of a linear function going through the two points.On every enterFrame() i create one segment for each pair of points, then the information is displayed in a bunch of dynamic text boxes.
The Problem: whichever object is sent over last overwrites the data from the first. I am creating two different objects with different names, but the first is being overwritten by the second. What is going wrong here?

I am trying to understand why I am not able to launch a SWF from the URL after launching mvm jetty:run on my project.The project has built successfully and produced a Falcon-WAR-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.war in the maven target directory. Im creating an sqlite db in my air for android app inside the following function:[code]i can successfully create tables, insert and select, but each time i re-publish the app from flash cs5.5 the database is overwritten and all data is lost. Totally stumped, any ideas welcome!i'm publishing a debug release directly from flash pro via usb. When the app is initialised it calls the method above, on receiving the OPEN event it creates a table using the following SQL statement.[code]I can then run some operations, insert, select etc and everything is as expected. If i exit and re-luanch the app, the previous data sets are intact, but when i re-publish from flash any data stored from the previous release has disappeared.According to the documentation SQLConnection.open() will open a connection to the file supplied in the parameters and if it doesn't exist, it will create one...
here is the scenario we ran across while working on our Flash AS3 project today.

We have many sub swf's that are loaded by the main root swf. The root swf shows the art on the stage of the sub swf, and also runs some code from the sub swf's document class. However, we noticed the constructor was not getting called on the second sub swf if the document class is the same name- even if they are in different folders. Note that we publish our swf files to a separate directory (with the same structure as above) so it is easily copied to the web server.
-root.swf loads sub1/sub.swf -the constructor of the document class sub.as in subfolder sub1 gets called -root.swf shows sub1/sub.swf assets with the correctly constructed sub1/sub.as document class -user chooses to switch to sub2

We decided to use a workaround where we basically changed the two document class .as files to be different names (e.g. renamed sub1/sub.as -> sub1/sub1.as and sub2/sub.as -> sub2/sub2.as, and updated the .fla's to point to the renamed document classes), and it works as expected. Hopefully that workaround is useful for someone.I realize most people just name every single file differently and keep everything in one folder, but when you have a sufficiently complicated project, things like this come up.
I can't seem to remove / unload the external swf files e.g when the carousel.swf (portfolio) is displayed and I press the about button the about content is overlapping the carousel (portfolio) . How can I remove / unload an external swf file from the main flash file and load a new swf file, while at the same time removing garbage collection from memory?
I am trying to write a class file using a .as file instead of writing code into the script tab of a .fla file.When I write stage.addChild(img); I get an error that stage is null. When I take out stage, and just write addChild(img); the code runs fine, but nothing appears on stage. Do I need to do something to set a stage active?
Is this because I don't have a Main class? My class is named after the file and I don't have a file named Main.Here is the code. As it is, it runs and I get the two trace outputs, but no graphic on my screen.

Which is preferred and why: keeping the AS in the Flash file itself, or linking to the .as with the Flash file. I've seen both done. Is it just a matter of preference?
I am sending out a standalone player that uses an xml driven image gallery. I need to prevent changes to the xml file to stop images being added to the gallery. I can can password protect the xml file to prevent changes, but I also wondered if there was a way to validate the authenticity of the xml file from within Flash to prevent the entire file being replaced?
I have created a booklet in InDesign cs4 that includes page turn transitions. I have saved it as a SWF file and it works perfectly on my PC with the ability to sweep through the page turns. My issue is now, what type of file can I export the SWF file to so that I can view it on an iPad and am still able to have the page curls?

I have a application developed in flex deployed on server. In the application data is filled by user and saved in cookies so as to be available even when the user closes the application. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.
I'm having some problems inserting my ammap into my webpage. I've read through the documentation and it isn't helping. The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. The template is built under Flash and has .swf, .fla and html files and was setup on an html background. To make things look nice I decided to use an XML web template as a background to his template. The problem starts from there.The XML web template allows us to add our own SWF files, so I decided to add the swf file of my friend's template.
The swf file was set to "noscale" and when I imported it into the web template it didn't fit properly. So I took the "noscale" off from the actionscript and imported it again. Even then the scaling of the swf file was not correct.As soon as you load the file, it scales towards the left and not center.My question is how can I write a code within the fla file so that when the swf file is loaded it automatically centers itself?2nd question is how can I setup the dimensions of the file as in terms of height and width of the file without getting it cropped. I tried to set it up from 840x610 to 650x430 however the swf content got chopped off (even with noscale off).

check_bins(img) is a function in my javascript file that simply iterates through an array, returning false if "img" is found. im simply trying to get the true or false value back into flash, but its not proving that simple. i added a couple alerts so that i could see what the "bincheck" value was, and i keep getting an 'undefined' value for "bincheck" in flash.
I have to make a project for school. It will be like a tutorial, but into an application. I already made a part of it in MXML and a bit of action script but I encountered a few problems that are over my newbie limits. So the Flex Builder 2 makes a SFW file, in the main folder of the "project". I want to make that SWF file my main executable file. I have a folder with some pics, and another folder with Action Script Files. The code lvl that I know atm is ABSOLUTE BEGINER... I'm building a flash movie for something at work and im loading in some images using an XML file but when i use a preloader it only preloads the XML file (as in just the text inside) and not the images.
This causes the movie to start playing without having the images loaded.Does anyone have any ideas about how i could get it to preload the contents/images being called in the XML file so it doesn't run as soon as the XML file is loaded.

Having got into flash about a year ago, I have a fairly good understanding of as3, but I have never had any reason to learn as2. For an upcoming project, we were looking to use Scaleform GFx, with the UDK. (Unreal Development Kit) Trouble is, Scaleform only supports as2. From what I've been told, as3 is supposed to be better in just about every way, so I really don't want to learn a language that?s most likely on the way out, if I have any other options.
Is there any converters out there, that can convert script from as3 to as2? Or another workaround possibility, since flash communicates with the UDK by means of just calling a function, could I create an as2 file that could dynamically load an as3 file?
I have a Flash movie which is embeded in 'base.aspx' file, when a button is clicked in the flash movie another 'something.aspx' file need to be called.When I run the flash movie from the Adobe Flash Professional CS3 IDE , it (the flash movie) calls the 'something.aspx' file just as expected.However when I embed the flash movie in to the 'base.aspx' file it doesn't work as expected .
I asked this earlier but maybe I didn't give enough information. I am working on a website where video quality is very important and the client is delivering me the video already compressed. I then want to import it to flash CS3 and export it as .flv for progressive download with the media playback component. I have done all of this successfully in a sense that it all works but the video quality is not good enough, it's good but the client says it;s a bit grainy. I used the highest setting in Flash, on2 vp6 at 700kbs.
My question is what is the best file format (.mov etc) and what settings should the client use, so I can create the highest quality .flv export from their .mov file? Second question, I used an 8 second buffer but now the client is saying they don't want it to buffer at all. What are the other options besides progressive download, I have never delved into this before?
