We are running FMS 4.0 to stream on-demand MBR videos using the OSMF player. We have noticed that occasionally during playback the video freezes, while the audio skips back a few seconds and starts playing. Once the audio catches up, the video unfreezes and resumes normal playback.

Basically there is a delay of 5 seconds between Video and Audio when I access the site from out of my network but when I access it within my network (VPN) then it's work fine.

I'm trying to determine if it was bandwidth related, cpu/memory issue on the FMIS 4.5 server, or an issue with encoding PC exceeding it's limits?

View 4 RepliesI have a page which has an intro animation which lasts 314 frames and finishes with a button. When you click the button it takes you to a separate html page with a scrolling photogallery. When I click the 'back' button in the photogallery it takes me back to the first html page with the intro animation.
How do I make sure that when I click the back button it skips the first 314 frames (bearing in mind I am returning from a separate html page)?
I have this sample code from the e-book: "Learning Flash Media Server 3". The purpose of the code is to create a FLV. The code is not running as it should. When I click on the 'record' button, the label is to change to 'recording', that dosen't seem to happen and also when I click on the 'Stop Record' button, I get the following error:
"TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at MinRecord/stopRecord()"

My deduction is that the 'if' statement in the 'startRecord' function is not resolving to 'true' and hence the label is not changing to 'Recording'. Also I feel that the assingment to the variable 'ns' of type NetStream is not being done and hence in the function 'stopRecord' I get the above mentioned error message when I click on the stop button. How do I rectify these problems?
1) I want a 60 seconds video to start playing after 40 seconds have been downloaded - to do that I set the NetStream.bufferTime to 40 seconds and retrieve "NetStream.Buffer.Full" event causing the video to really start playing. This step is OK.
2) However, the "NetStream.Buffer.Full" causes data to stop downloading. So the remainder of the video begins to download no sooner than after the 40 seconds have been played. This step is my issue. Can anyone tell me how to avoid this unintended effect? (i.e. playing a video and downloading data at the same time?)
I am converting from .FLV's to .F4V. Video outputs fine but the audio sound stops after a few seconds from the beginning.I have tried many different settings for the audio with no luck. Also, tried on a colleague's machine who is running CS3, which works fine, so something is buggy in CS4...
View 1 RepliesI'm sure I'll receive some sort of hate for posting this in the wrong area, but I'm really desperate for help and don't feel like searching further for the "correct forum." Anyway, I created a swf for the "education" page for a liquor store, it navigates through wine, beer, and liquor. All the links work well, however after you go to (for example) the liquor page, when you hit the "back button" on the browser, going back to the page with my swf file, the movie freezes after the first animation. I don't understand it, it only happens with firefox, which to my knowledge is one of the more progressive browsers, so what gives?! It even works perfectly on IE and my android phone, so I'm at a complete loss, as I'm more a designer than programmer. Please take a look and offer any obvious advice. I would be willing to make the video in AS3 if that is the only option, I just have no clue how to implement AS3... so confusing. I had an flv recording from a webcam.It mostly recorded fine, but there's one point where I paused the broadcast for an intermission.A few minutes later the broadcast started again but the video doesn't play beyond that point, only audio plays.A few minutes later in the recording the broadcast switched to another camera and the video starts playing again just fine from there.I can't seek past the frozen point either to skip a couple of seconds ahead.The freeze is at about 9:00.If I seek to 9:01 it jumps ahead 8 minutes to where the camera switches.What's strange in this is that the video is *definitely* in the file.Using Moyea's FLV Editor Pro I converted the FLV to an MPEG and the whole video is there, so it's not that the camera stopped transmitting, it's just that the playback isn't working.

When the user presses the Save button in the NavigatorContent the form and the children should be saved to the database by calling the server through BlazeDS:

The object that i pass to the accordion children is public and [Bindable] in the NavigatorContent and in the accordion children and is initially passed from the main DataGrid. May this be a problem relating to this issue?

Basically what is happening is that Flash is buffering the video to a certain point, but instead of resuming playback from the point where the vid paused it now jumps instantly to the end of the newly buffered area without playing the vid portion in between. Which essentially means that it skips merrily through the video and never stops buffering.

Have bashed through most of my problems but this one has got me stumped, scripting skills not up to the task. When my streaming videos start they will buffer and begin to play as normal. That said I'd prefer to get to the root of the prob, particularly if this is a codec/keyframe issue, since I could then re-export the vids appropriately. I am using mpg4 (.mov) with H264 compression and keyframes at 1 sec intervals.

View 1 Replieswhat are the best settings to export .mov file? I have 1280x720 movie and I can export it no problem but sometimes it skips or gets stuck when I play it. I'm not sure if it's my video card or the actual file. I was using the H.264 setting and compressor quality best.
View 1 RepliesI have a flv which is in the same root folder as my exe. I have a navigation bar which takes me to the specific point in the timeline where the video is. Once the video comes up it plays for 1 second and then freezes. If I manually scrub the timeline past that point the video will continue and loop as intended, but right off the bat everytime the video freezes?
I'm at a complete stand still, Have tried reinstalling flash player, tried installing old versions of Flash player, nothing seems to fix it.
I am streaming user cameras through fms server. And sometimes (I don't know when) the picture of some camera freezes, but the sound is still on.I think that something is wrong with Video object, because if I recreate Video object to freezed camera (with the same stream) the picture starts again.

When I enter fullscreen with fullscreeensourcerect in Internet Explorer and then exit again, there are leftovers (artifacts) from the video still visible where they should not be. I have attached a screenshot to demonstrate. The same flash movie works in firefox withouth these artifacts staying onscreen. The project (Flash CD) is compiled of activities and videos. There are several videos in a row and they all load as external swfs. The third video freezes about mid-way through, but sometimes it doesn't - and then it's the other videos that freeze and are really jittery. Apparently the CD doesn't work on particular operating systems... But shouldn't that just be their hardware? The exe and swf's are all flash player 9. Even when I run the project locally it freezes. What's going on? How can I fix this?

I am using progressive download to play video files in a video player. When I seek to a point that has not downloaded yet the video player freezes. The player enters the seeking state and stops playing.Clicking the play and pause buttons has no effect. The video player comes out of the seeking state and resumes playing only when the video file has completely downloaded. How do I implement the functionality where the player when seeked to a point that has not downloaded simply seeks back to the amount that has downloaded.
View 1 RepliesI ran a simple live video streaming application for the first time with actual users and ran into a couple of serious performance issues that had not turned up during testing. In this instance there was one video stream from a live web cam and used FMLE at 150 kbps using VP6 and MP3 @22k. There were 16 clients and everything worked pretty good for about 30 minutes. (although some clients said their audio and video were out of sync by up to 3 seconds)
Then individual clients would have either the video freeze or the video would continue and the audio would stop. These clints had to "disconnect" and then "connect" again to the application. This happened to all of the clients at one time or another for several minutes. I stopped and restarted the FMLE with progessively lower bandwidth settings down to 75 kbps but still clients were having the same issue.
I eventually stopped the FMLE and used the applications built in publisher at 45 kbps and that seemed to eliminate the freeze/dropping issue. But of course the video quality was very poor and some clients still reported that the audio was out of sync with the video. The server hosting the FMS application is a quad processor dell with lots of memory and network connectivity. The Flash Media Admin Console performance graph showed the total Bandwidth as 3 Mbps at maximum.
Recently any flash videos I watch keep freezing even when the video is fully buffered. The sound continues to play but the picture stops. It can jerk into life after a few seconds but then it'll freeze again and keep doing this for the duration of the video. I have no problems on my Windows PCs on the same web connection.[code]...

However, after about a minute of video chatting the clients freeze and the browser crashes.what might have caused this? View 1 RepliesI have a Net Stream object that I am using to stream video from an Amazon Flash Media Streaming service.The video makes a connection and plays fine but randomly it seems to just freeze and the only way to get it to work again is to re-establish the connection. I have tried to put other videos in that amazon bucket as well and they seem to play fine. this happens when it is in .FLV form and .mp4 format.
I have set the buffer time to be 5 seconds and i watch the output of the buffer to see the % of full it is. when the problem occurs the buffer 5 goes from 100 to 0 and then it throws a Buffer fail error (i'm using OVP framework).I have come to the conclusion that it is either a video encoding problem or perhaps there is a firewall issue that blocks the data from getting through.
I'm having trouble getting the Video class to work.. Everything works fine until I try to add an on enter frame event listener to the movie. I basically want to overlay an effect that gets updated every frame but adding the event listener causes the movie to freeze before it loads or on the first frame or just shortly after starting play back.. It freezes even if the enter frame method body is commented out so I don't think it's because of extra overhead..
I was wondering how I can delay (2 seconds) a video to play in a Flash Video Player? I know one way is for me to add blank frames but I would like to know some other options.
