What I'm trying to do is to create a fancy custom-shaped login panel. It's functions and containing components should be pretty standard, just like in regular login panel - FormItem, TextInput, Validators, etc. I did some research and found that it is possible to create skins using Fireworks, however this does not solve my problem because it does not allow me to manipulate with panel shape. What would be the best way to do it?
View 3 RepliesI wanted to change the background color of my Panel title area and I discovered that I needed to create custom skin or skin extender to accomplish this. So I created a skin called myPanelSkin based upon the Spark.PanelSkin. My background color works fine but it will no longer show the cornerRadius defined either on the component or in a styleI then tried another approach and simply created a new skin as an exact copy of the Spark.PanelSkin. It also looses the cornerRadius.

Because, title is a private variable in panel, I can't access it via title.width.I know the font, fontsize (14), and length of the title (which will vary). Knowing this info is there a way to calculate how many pixels wide the title is?

This does not happen with the mx Panel.unning Flex 4.1 on Windows 7I tried putting mx and spark controls in the spark Panel, and they both appear outside of the boundaries. Note this doesn't happen with the mx Panel. What am I missing to make the spark behave like the mxSample Code:

I'm trying (by ActionScript) to make a bunch of small circles form a complex shape e.g. a star or a windmill.
I'm planning to draw on circle and draw it to bitmap date, but I don't know how to place a lot of circles in the shape of a complex shape (or how to transform them into another complex shape).
I have made an app that draws shapes using the lineTo method to create a pen like effect. I then want this shape to be filled like the bucket tool in photoshop/flash. I tried to use beginFill but it doesnt seem to work.

View 0 RepliesI have noticed two differences between spark and mx forms which are causing me some problems. It seems by default the mx forms are arranged to the label is above the form input item. In Spark they are arranged next to each other. Also the label in spark forms are bold by default.For example MX code could be

The difference here are two things, the earlier error is while converting flash event to custom event and now this one is while converting custom event to flash event and secondly, I have no clue why it is trying to convert to the mouseevent where I am just dispatching my custom event with proper listeners.

View 1 RepliesI am currently looking to see what the bounding are for the start drag method. And by the looks of it the bounding is set by passing the rect() object to the dragUpdater/ constructor. My question then is can you pass a custom drawn shape like a curve or what ever? By the looks of it you can not as specified by the adobe reference doc.

I've managed to draw a custom shape onto a canvas and use that shape as a mask over an image. Is there anyway possible to crop the image and save it out in the custom shape?making whatever is outside the shape transparent? I have been working creating a fla file that loads several swfs and random background images. However, I have a custom form that I want to implement and I am having a problem figuring out how to do so. I want to have it work like an inner popup where it blurs and unblurs the background image (like the schedule from hbo.com).
Here's my setup:FLA file contains-UILoader for swf sectionUILoader for random background image
Lets say I load a section called home.swf into the section loader. Within the home.swf I have a button for someone to call up the form.swf. Is it possible for the form to blur the random background image when loaded then unblur it when it's done? If so how would you recommend I go about programming it. **I also have no idea how to unload it.

I'm trying to create a custom order form(for a printing company) where the user can select their product, enter their credit card details and then upload the file. I've created the combo box & user input text fields. Now what I want is that when user clicks the submit button:
1. A mail is sent to the admin which contain all the details about the form that was filled by the user.
2. The file that is uploaded by the user should also be sent as attachment in the same mail. I'm not able to figure out how to add the feature of file upload in ActionScript.
3. This one is optional, but will add value to me if possible. The website is developed in Wordpress. Can we have a feature where a logged in user can save his order and come again later and retrieve his order form.
I just downloaded Flash CS5 for mac which installed without any errors. However, when I first launched the software I am getting the following error: The following panel layout is missing or could not be read: /users/rob/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Workspace/Essentials.xml The application will not have a correct layout. load one from Windows ->Workspace Once past this message none of the panels load.

The motivation here is that I can now create a couple different skin files to change the look and layout of those subgroups. Reading source of the spark panel, there are some calls within the mx_internal namespace such as getMXMLContent() which is a method of the spark group component, but which I have no access to.
Does the description above make sense? How can I create custom 'contentGroups' in my custom Flex4 component that can use nested mxml child components? Should I approach this a different way?
