ActionScript 3.0 :: Generate Shapes Within Another Custom Shape?
Sep 10, 2009
The idea is to fill some custom curved shape surface with generated circles with various radiuses. Look at attached image.
Well, I assume I know what approach I should use, but getBounds() will not work in my case, since the shape is not a square. So I think I need to get the 'targetCoordinateSpace' of a custom shape, but I don't know how to do that and I'm not even sure if that will work.
I have a single point and a set of shapes. I need to know if the point is contained within the compound shape of those shapes. That is, where all of the shapes intersect.But that is the easy part.If the point is outside the compound shape I need to find the position within that compound shape that is closest to the point.These shapes can be of the type:squarecirclering (circle with another circle cut out of the center)inverse circle (basically just the circular hole and a never ending fill outside that hole, or to the end of the canvas is there must be a limit to its size)part of circle (as in a pie chart)part of ring (as above but lineThe example below has an inverted circle (the biggest circle with grey surrounding it), a ring (topleft) a square and a line.
If we don't consider the line, then the orange part is the shape to constrain to. If the line is taken into account then the saturated orange part of the line is the shape to constrain to.The black small dots represent the points that need to be constrained. The blue dots represent the desired result. (a 1, b 2 etc.)Point "f" has no corresponding constrained result, since it is already in the orange area.For the purpose of this example, only point "e" is constrained to the line, all others are constrained to the orange orange area.
Go about to making a custom shape for a hill. I want to import it from photoshop where I made it but when I do it comes in as a square so instead of the character moving up the hill it goes to the top of the square and drops when the image ends.
I want to start building some prebuild shapes, like a star, cross, heart, and some more with code.Does anyone know if there is already something like this ? A library with custom sprites or shapes?And should i create these graphics extending the sprite or shape class? I read that shapes wouldbe better for performance?
In the preload there are some tween from a shape to another using the same components in every tween (the leaf) and then from a shape the tween goes to a number of the preload...how to achieve this effect? I have seen it in a lot of websites but i've never understand how to achieve this effect that is an awsome effect above all when you are trying to show a product or a company. Rapresenting the brand identity and all the things concern to it with this effect is an awsome idea.
I'd like to learn how to create classes. For instance, I'd like to create a class that draws a custom shape. Like an arrow that is just a rectangle with a triangle on the end. I'd like to be able to do this sort of thing:
Is it possible to have some server-side tech create a custom PDF based on variables entered into a flash app on a website?
I have a simple survey built in flash and I want to give users who fill it out the option of receiving a pdf that tells gives them their answers to their questions and an analysis based on those answers.
I have made an app that draws shapes using the lineTo method to create a pen like effect. I then want this shape to be filled like the bucket tool in photoshop/flash. I tried to use beginFill but it doesnt seem to work.
I know how to make a webpage pop up out of flash that links to a certain site or whatever...
But can you put the HTML inside flash itself, so all the source is contained in the flash, and when you open the webpage, it will be generated as stored in flash?
What I'm trying to do is to create a fancy custom-shaped login panel. It's functions and containing components should be pretty standard, just like in regular login panel - FormItem, TextInput, Validators, etc. I did some research and found that it is possible to create skins using Fireworks, however this does not solve my problem because it does not allow me to manipulate with panel shape. What would be the best way to do it?
I have a question about shapes (i mean the flash.display.Shape class). Is it possible to import Shapes directly from the library as Shapes and not as Sprites/MovieClips? Shapes are supposed to be faster than MovieClips/Sprites, right? So why is it only possible to import MCs/Sprites from the library? I understand that generally shapes could be created solely by actionscript, but in my case the shape comprises of many points and is curved - so it's quite infeasible.
Is there maybe some sort of plugin to generate code that would draw the desired shape from a drawn shape in CS4? And a last one: Are there any benchmarks out there for performance comparison between sprites/mcs/shapes? How much performance do i loose by using a sprite instead of a shape?
2 frames 2 shapes one moves to second frame other to first upon click with AS3 on second frame shape after i click copy of cursor snaps there and stay check attached file.
Does anyone know how make a custom handcursor to replace the standard one to desire shape. When mouseOver/Out it will change to the custom one instead of standard.
I am currently looking to see what the bounding are for the start drag method. And by the looks of it the bounding is set by passing the rect() object to the dragUpdater/ constructor. My question then is can you pass a custom drawn shape like a curve or what ever? By the looks of it you can not as specified by the adobe reference doc. startDrag()method public function startDrag(lockCenter:Boolean = false, bounds:Rectangle = null):void So from this I would conclude that to have a custom drag path one would have to create a custom class.
I've managed to draw a custom shape onto a canvas and use that shape as a mask over an image. Is there anyway possible to crop the image and save it out in the custom shape?making whatever is outside the shape transparent? The only image cropping i can find is using rectangles, whereas i need a polygon shape.

ActionScript Code: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; public class Base extends MovieClip { public var baseHP:int = 50; var newRect:Shape = new Shape();
1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Shape. 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method Shape. What does it mean by "undefined method"? I am somewhat of a newby, so sorry if there are any stupid errors
Id like to know if there is a way to do a shape hitTest.Not as the normal hitTest would do, but shape colliding another shape, not the rectangleof a movieclip.It can be in a movieclip.
using the shape tool you can draw basic shapesthen using the subselection tool you can re-shape them by relocating certain points
What i want to do is create a tween whereby one of the points is movedthe problem is you have to convert to a symbol first and after you have done that you cant change the shapes shape.so how do i go about using a motion tween to change the shape of a shape?
This is NOT duplicate of my earlier post (its is slightly different)But this is similar issue with similar error but its not the same error The error I am getting now is below while dispatching the custom event from my custom component
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert events::MapEvent@a74ab51 to flash.events.MouseEvent. dispatchEvent(new MapEvent(MapEvent.CLICKED_ON_MAP));
Note: The error in my earlier post is giving below error message
Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.events::Event@81ecb79 to com.events.ShopEvent
The difference here are two things, the earlier error is while converting flash event to custom event and now this one is while converting custom event to flash event and secondly, I have no clue why it is trying to convert to the mouseevent where I am just dispatching my custom event with proper listeners.
it is possible for me to add cut-out shapes onto Flash? I have cut them out in photoshop and pasted on a transparent background, but when I open them in Flash the background has changed to white.
