Jul 3, 2006I have an Array retrived from XML via xPath. I then compare one bucket with a string and dont get the result i want. It seems that the XML string isn't really a string.

Feb 16, 2012The question seems to be simple, however it create problems for me. I have a dataGrid with two dataFields: peerID, name. The information in a grid updated dynamically when new user joined the group (I'm creating a chat). I need that information about user deleted from a grid after it's disconnect. So, on "NetGroup.Neighbor.Disconnect": event i want to compare "event.info.peerID" value with all peerID values in a grid and delete info about disconnected user.
I'm trying to use next construction:

But it doesn't work at all!
I'v noticed that construction txtDataArray.source[i] (or txtDataArray.getItemAt(i) ) returned [object GridColumn] insead of value. So, I have two questions:
1) How to get the value of exact cell?
2) How to organized info delete after user disconnect?

Sep 5, 2006We have implemented a Flash photo slideshow on our site and it works just fine for most of our users. Whenever the xml.load(success) returns false I have the Flash email me a debug report. For the life of me I can not find a common thread between all of these people having problems with the Flash. I don't think it's a cross-domain issue because it works for most people, and I have the crossdomain.xml files where they should be.

Data Integration :: Run A Query And Convert The Results To An XML String?
May 30, 2007I need to run a query and convert the results to an XML string. I *think* I need to do all of this in PHP but I wanted to get some guidance as sometimes I make things more difficult than necessary.
Do I have 2 scripts... one to query and one to process the results to XML? Or can I put them both in the same script. To do the latter is not proper OOP practice, correct?
Once that is done, I can get the data into Flash. I need it to be XML though because the same data is being used elsewhere outside of Flash.
Is this the proper, most efficient way of handling this task?
Data Integration :: Securely Sending Connection String To Swf?
Oct 15, 2006ok so when i need to connect a swf to some sort of data source on the server be it XML, a .NET DLL, a CFC or what ever so that i can load data from a database or what ever, everyone is always saying that i shouldn't hard code the connection string into my actionscript as anyone can get it and do malicious things with it. So how should i load the connection string into flash. if i put them on the server in an XML file or somthing like that then i still need to put a connection string into the actionscript in order to load in my main connection strings into the actionscript.
Basically i need to know how to load an external string into a swf without anyone else being able to get hold of that string for them selves. i am developing an app for somone and i need it to connect to a database and i need it to be secure. i have everything sorted except making the connection string to the database unstealable.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Compare Array's Element (xml Reference) With String?
Jan 22, 2010I need to compare a number with a element in a Array(curModeDisplay), I can trace the element and see it without problem. But when I try to compare the inside element with a String, it didn't work. Why?

Is that because the element in the Array is reference to the XML node, and "11265" is String. If so, how should I fix this problem. The "11265" will be changed to any named String type variable in the future.

Now I have some developers working on a CMS type page in PHP that is going to hopefully pass some sort of information to my player that will let it know where the video is stored on our server. Is there a way to do this without using FMS? If so does anyone have ideas where I can find the information for it.

Data Integration :: XML Integration In Flash?
Nov 12, 2007I'd like to create one empty Flash movie that is essentially a placeholder for externally loaded content I can change through XML. This content would just be able to randomly load 1 of 3 photos, with a button linking to a website within each of the photos on page load. If the user refreshes the page, a new photo with it's link would appear, but I understand since it's random,having 3 images the same image is likely to reappear, but I can always add additional photos and links.
Does anyone know of a tutorial that might lead me on the correct path to create this? I've found some tuts, but they've been different than my need.
Data Integration :: Flash And FTP Integration?
Feb 1, 2007We want to be able to upload over 100+ files (if needed) to a server along with desc + keywords. I see that Flash 8 has the neccessary tools to handle file uploading, but my question is, can we have it act as a Stand alone FTP program so that we can utilize the fastest user upload, or will we be confined to the settings in the server INI settings.IE MAX_UPLOAD_TIME,MAX_FILESIZE, etc. If possible we want to avoid using the HTTP upload as it is noticeably slower. So if we can use flash to utilize user BW to upload, then that would be ideal.

There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

May 7, 2010Im trying to use dynamic SQL tables on my PHP server so I need to pass the table name to the PHP script. I don't understand why the Data Management system that sets up CRUD won't allow this extra parameter. It says it can only have one input: item. I can get all records, but when I try to create, update, or delete I get an error.
Or is there another way I can pass the tablename variable to the php file before I call any functions?

I know I can strip the doublequotes, but don't want to go that route if I can avoid it. I've tried replacing to double quotes with hex codes before passing the text via parameter to my flash file, but the text string always cuts off at the hex code, the same as if the double quote were present in the string. To ensure proper saving without surprising the user with a permissions dialog unexpectedly, I'd like to request unlimited data storage on first time app launch - Joey Lott shows how to do this in the Actionscript Cookbook... request=mySO.flush(1024 * 500);
My question is,Can I perform this permissions request with the user a single time with a generic app SO in global fashion, so that the permissions would be set for any SOs created during the use of the product (all written to same SO directory),or do I have to request
permissions for each and every SO created? Since the latter would be unacceptable from a UE standpoint, that means stuffing all app data into a single SO which doesn't seem so great from a data config perspective...
