Disable Antialiasing For Text In HTML Components (Windows)?
Jan 30, 2010
I have an AIR application that uses the HTML component to display a significant portion of content (I set the html myself, it is not loaded remotely). The text displays normally on Mac (I think Mac antialiases all text by default). However, on windows, the text displays anti-aliased regardless of the OS settings. It ends up giving everything a red tint.
Ideally, I'd like to be able to control whether or not the text gets anti-aliased. Does anyone know if there's a way to to this in Flex / AIR?
I'm working on a project, and decided that readability was too low, so I enabled advanced antialiasing on text throughout the site. In the majority of places, it looks correct, however anywhere in text where the color changes, the text overlaps (e.g. a block of grey text with a blue link in it, the blue link text actually begins on top of the end of the previous word). The weirdest part is that if you roll over the first piece of text (that lies under the second piece), the text shifts and it looks correct.
I have screenshots of before and after and some code examples below. I've attempted to utilize the TextRenderer functionality in flash.text to no avail (setting any advanced antialiasing settings to make Flash treat light and dark text the same results in a crash of the Flash player, so I've abandoned this method) and manually setting thickness and sharpness seem to change nothing.
First an issue applying antialiasing to my text, it seems to not be used if the text color is anything but white. The second also regards the cell renderer. I've noticed a difference in the sharpness/brightness of text color (excluding the smoothed character edges) when enabling font embedding, do the rendering tecniques include a sort of blending with the background to less enthe text's visual impact?
when I add a dark glow to some text using 'Glowfilter', the text is set to use antialias for readability. When I preview my flash file the text renders incorrectly - the last few pixels on the right hand side of the block of text are missing. i.e. if I use the text 'word' then the vertical line on the right of the 'd' character doesn't render. If I change the antialias setting on the text to use device font or antialias for animation the problem doesn't happen.
I've been struggling to get some text antialiased in a static text field in CS4. The text field is using an embedded font, with antialiasing set to "Anti-alias for readability".
The field is referring to the font symbol in the library and the symbol does not have bitmap text enabled.
When viewing the field itself, the text looks properly antialiased. The field is inside a graphic symbol. When I navigate out of the graphic symbol, the text loses its antialiasing. It is also not antialiased when published.
It has something to do with the font symbol, as it antialiases properly if I set the font to the actual font on the system. It's not a standard font though, so will need to be embedded.
The three images show the text in the text field, the symbol and the published swf.
I'm having an issue with the PDF displaying outside the viewable area of the mx:HTML control in Flex. When the application starts up - the mx:HTML is set to a certain size, but can be enlarged if the application is maximized. These are the following conditions to replicate it: Issue only happens in Windows (Windows 7, not on Mac) Issue only happens with Reader X installed (not with previous versions) Issue only happens when running the built app, does not happen in debug / development mode from FlashBuilder
I'm wanting to do a interactive application that is fullscreen across two monitors. I know that invoking the normal fullscreen procedure will defult the the fullscreen to only the main monitor. I was wondering if there was a way around this. Like, if I removed the windows borders and flash toolbar from the application, set the initial window location to start at (0,0) and then set the stage size to the resolution of the two monitors horizontal resollution compined. Is that possible, and if so what the things(terms, methods)
I am using Actionscript 2 in Flash CS5, and I have "on(keypress)" actions, that allows the user to navigate using the arrow keys on the keyboard. However, as soon as I add any of the "components", it disables the entire keyboard. I am trying to add a scrollpane, and the scrollpane works but it disables the keyboard in both the projector mode using flash player, or in html using the Internet browser.
I would like to completely disable the soundin Adobes Flash-Player in case of "nerving"Websites. Is there a way to disable the soundin Flash-Player, but without disabling the sound in
I want to get rid of the typical Flex roll-over color in list-based components, and to display my own style of roll-over rendering. Setting useRollOver to 'false' is not an option, since disabling that will also make the List.isItemHighlighted() function to always return false. My custom renderer relies on that function. Can it be so hard? Is there no way of setting that roll-over color to transparent? Is there some other way for my renderer to figure out if an item is highlighted?
how can I open a window without menu or a chromless from a fullscreen swf ..flash movie.I can call javascript from swf embeded in html but its long now couldn't open a html or movie inside full screen flash
I am using flash CS3 with ActionScript 3.0. Suppose, I created a button component and a Combo-box component. Hence, SWF file consists of a Button and a Combo-box component. Now, my requirement is, How to access the instances and properties of these components(Button and Combo-box), so that I can create HTML webpages depending upon the Combo-box selection and the Button click events occurred on flash components? Note: Here, we need to pass/send the flash components' instances to HTML. How can we do it?

Am working on a flash component that is supposed to display some dynamic text which might include HTML formatting. This text is displayed in a label component (AS3), and i would want it to render correctly, like create a line break when <br> is inserted, but it doesn't!
So am wondering what the supported HTML tags in the label component, and in general all other flash components?
I'm setting up an HTML page that automatically starts playing a flash video. Well at the bottom of that page - is an area with testimonials thumbnails that the user can click on loading up a small flash video in that component. Is there a way to tell the main video to pause or restart or whatever so that I don't have two videos playing at once

In an application I'm writing, there's a chat section. Whenever anyone says something I show their name in bold, and a picture using an img tag, so therefore I make my chat area a dynamic text box with html enabled. However, this means anyone in the chat can start typing html tags all over the place and I do not want this to happen.
Is there a way I can encode a string to html entities so that I can prevent this sort of thing happening?
I am developing an Adobe AIR application which uses both native windows and floating panels. Is is possible to enable the creation of a floating window instead of a native window when a JavaScript window.open() function is called?
It is required that all of the floating windows are contained within one native window, therefore the creation of more native windows is not suitable.
I have used a Custom HTMLHost class in order to enable the creation of a native window but I can't work out a way of creating a MDI window instead. I am using the flexMDI framework for my floating panel interface.
When developing Flex projects, Eclipse gives warnings about the default index.html file generated by Flex Builder. The file is in the 'target' folder (or "generated artifacts" folder. Yes, I'm also using Maven). Can I eliminate or disable this warning? The code which generates the warning is below, though I would definitely prefer not changing the html - as I say this is the template suggested by Adobe. Eclipse warns of "Undefined attribute name (xxx)" for scroll on the body tag, and most of the embed attributes.[code]
There is a dynamic text box and I set it's wrap to be falseHowever, when I input text and press enter key, it still return to next line. How should I fix it in Flash CS3?
