Does an FLV need an accompanying javaScript file in order to play within an HTML page? How do you generate this or get a hold of this javaScript file if that is the case? I'm told you do not actually publish the file in order to get it to play / work.
So far, I have the FLV, the HTML page (where it's been inserted), the "skin" SWF and the movie in SWF also.
I have embedded an automatic slideshow as a swf file into a website I'm designing for my parents. When I test the swf file, it performs exactly as expected but when I embed it into the html, it just sits there and doesn't run/animate/whatever.
The slideshow (should) automatically run through a group of 7 photos, with a fade transition and was all done with actionscript, loading the external jpeg files into alternate movieclip containers etc etc.
The web page where it doesn't work is here: [URL] - you can see that the swf just sits there, doing absolutely nothing.
The location of the swf file is: [URL] - as you can see, it works fine on its own!!
In the below code i get an error saying Error #2007: Parameter url must be non-null on Internet Explorer only.What am i doing wrong here

I would like to load a different image inside a flash movie depending upon what .html filename my wesite is displaying. So, for example if im on index.html I would like an index image to load in a movieclip and when I'm on a (anything).html i want (anything).jpg to load. I know I can do this with loadmovie and however is there a way to detect what .html page the user is on or is there a better way of going about this?

Now which is this HTML file ? Is it the index.template.html file per project or the HTML file created per MXML application ?
View 3 RepliesI have some animation (programmatic, I'm NOT using keyframed animation in timeline), and some music I want to play in the background. Once the music file reaches the end (about 30 seconds long), I want to trigger the end of the animation functions.I figure I could either use an actionscript timer to trigger the end of the animation or a keyframe with actionscript that is placed on the timeline near the end of the song but these methods assume knowledge about the duration of the wave file. If I changed the framerate or updated the external wave file, these triggers would possibly no longer sync upIs there some sort of event listener or other detection method for an audio file to signal it has finished playing? Or maybe there is a way to get the duration of the audio file to use in the timer
View 3 RepliesI am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
I am using swfin to embed a swf object (video player) and it loads fine in all browsers, but in firefox it won't "start".I have to right click on the movie area and "start" is unchecked so I click on "start" and it will start just fine. Yet, in chrome and IE (haven't moved to a mac for testing yet) it fires up and starts just as I expected. I have tried swfobject instead of swfin and I have IE issues that I couldn't seem to correct. Hence moving to swfin.Here is the swfin code:

I have a problem that I have not found a syntax error or logic error to explain. It appears to be an obscure problem related to playing a sound file and graphic positioning in the same file. Click the pause button (which will be green while the selection plays) Then click the play button again. The knob that moves while the song plays, will begin moving from the position it was at the time pause was clicked.
Click the stop button (arrow facing left with vertical line at tip) Choose a selection from the html list by clicking the Play button next to it. Then click the play button in the player display. The title of selection will appear in the title area. repeat the original steps (play, pause, play) This time the knob that moves while song plays, snaps back to the start and moves from start, rather than from the pausedposition.

What am I missing here because my video doesn't have any controls? Is there a special parameter I need or do I need to encode the SWF file in a special way? I just used a MPEG to SWF converter provided by Blaze Media Pro.

I have a application developed in flex deployed on server. In the application data is filled by user and saved in cookies so as to be available even when the user closes the application. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.

The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. Let me give the context first. A user opens a local html file which has a reference to a network url of an swf file to embed.
(1) If the embed swf requests a local image file , will Flash allow the request?
(
2) If the embed swf requests an image file on a non local url other than one of the swf file, will Flash check a crossdomain.xml file on the url?

This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
